5 Ways to Reduce Travel Stress
I am a gypsy at heart - wondering as much as possible, getting lost (on purpose), exploring.
But even spontaneous trips can cause a little bit of did-ease and stress. Here are my 5 surefire ways to beat the stress and enjoy MORE of your trip!
Pre-trip/Prep
- You're so excited for the trip, you can hardly wait. The best thing to do before a trip is to stay grounded. Make sure you have everything together, pack appropriately. The last thing you want to forget is your favorite bikini for that island hoping cruise.
1. Make a list! - Use a spreadsheet, note every day of your trip, any excursions, special events, everything! Then think about everything you'll need to get through. Start w/the necessities and then add on bling. Remember, no body wants to travel 2 days with the chick who brings 1/2 her closet.
Planes\Trains\Automobiles
- You've waited MONTHS for this trip - don't ruin it by getting sick. Keep others germs, bacteria and viruses away from you! My go to is On Guard by doTERRA - I carry this EVERYWHERE I go. 1-2 drops under your tongue before a flight. Add 10 drops and witch hazel to a 2oz spray bottle and instant hand sanitizer. This is especially good when traveling overseas, on buses and with kids!
On the Trip
- One thing that's important to me, even while traveling is access to clean food! This is why I LOVE my meal replacement, Vegan protein shakes. Winding Down

DON'T! Stay present. Stay in the moment. Enjoy every second, of every minute, of every hour that you have left. You'll have plenty of time to go over your list of to dos when you get back.
I love to take the last couple of days or hours of my trip and start a gratitude journal. I journal all of the things I experienced, people I met, things I tried. I write them down and after each thing I write thank you. Thank you for the experience. Thank you for the opportunity. Thank you for this life.
Back Home
- Whether it's jet lag or just recovering from all the fun; getting settled in back home can take days. These are my MUST do's when I get back home - sure to get me back in the saddle ASAP - especially when I schedule a meeting first day back!
1.Get home, unpack immediately! Nothing reminds you you're OFF vacation and back to the grind than seeing your luggage sitting by the door. So sad! Get unpacked! Get back to your life!
2.Drink lots of water - if you flew chances are you're dehydrated, hours on a plane can lead to several water loss in your body.
3. Go to bed early! I love doTerra's Serenity (to help me fall asleep and stay asleep) and Mito2Max (to get me going first thing in the morning). I'm fully alert and ready to go even if I have to be on my game the very next day.
Traveling for a weekend, a week or a month shouldn't be stressful - it's the most exciting time of your life. A chance to get a way.
