Protecting Her Family
“You told us he was dead.” Fuyumi whispered. The cause of so much of their pain- the man that lied to them- the monster that refused to let her find her older brother, flinched back. “Did you know?” He doesn’t respond. “DID YOU KNOW THAT HE WAS ALIVE?”
“No. No, I didn’t.” She heard. “Fuyu-”
“Don’t.” She stalked up to her room. She couldn’t bear to hear his words. That night she dreamt.
She dreamt of the fire- of her older brother. Of how he must have been so hurt, felt so alone. Of what he must have had to do to survive. She doesn’t get much rest.
She resigns from her job and two weeks go by so fast. She assured her students that yes, she does still care about them. It’s just some family problems.
She leaves a letter for Natsuo and Shouto. They’d deserve to know. She wouldn’t lie to them.
That night it’s just her and the thing. She places it’s plate down in front of him. She would not lie.
“I’m sorry for how I acted.” She says and she was. “I made your favorite as an apology.” It nods and eats the food. She watches to make sure the living nightmare ate it all.
It doesn’t take too long for what she was waiting for. He starts looking pale and sweaty and she sees him gasping for air. One thing not many people know is that if you’re poisoned, you will still vomit. But that’s not enough to get rid of it.
She still has six hours before Natsuo gets home. She cleans up the mess it left before it’s death. Then she goes to pack her things.
It doesn’t take her long to finally find her dear older brother who she hugs and he nearly falls in shock.
“I’m so sorry- I you must’ve been so alone and I should have- could have- I don’t know!” She sobs into his chest. She could feel the stares of his coworkers as she did so. “Please- please forgive me!”
“Fuyumi- you- you were just a kid.”
“I’m not anymore. And I can’t go home.” It takes some time for everyone to adjust but with her and Kurogiri making sure their plans go well, they lose very few fights. Soon after her debut, Shouto and Natsuo both follow.
Her family was happy now. Rei no longer had it in her life. Shouto, Natsuo, and Touya seemed so much better. She felt no guilt. She did what she should’ve done years ago.
She protected her family.
