dad said I shouldn’t temporarily foster a cat from the rescue “because when you give him back they’ll kill him, which means basically that YOU killed him”

so in case there are other people out there who think this is a good reason not to foster or adopt animals: 

-Rescues and shelters are different. Rescues generally don’t kill for space needs, as they also generally aren’t obligated to take any animals they don’t have space for. 

-The cat could easily get a forever home. Not every animal at every shelter or rescue immediately dies, christ

-Helping a person or animal does not mean that it’s your fault for the bad things that happen to them in the past and future

-The reality of death is not a reason to make life worse?? fuck everyone who says “who cares about making life better for farm animals & people with short prospective life spans because they’re gonna die anyway?” YOU’RE gonna die anyway. This cat’s gonna die anyway. I’m gonna die anyway. All you can ask for in life is to experience and create your version of happiness with the time you have

-anyway I made Mittens a house in the closet with a heated blanket and stuffies and his cat stuff but he is sleeping in the sink
