mike and max go through another one of mike's memories and all of a sudden, before she has time to properly see where she is, mike covers her eyes.
that asshole!
max: hey, get off!
she struggles with his suddenly strong grip. being blind is not pleasant, yall.
mike: don't look. please.
"please"? wheelers know this word? max stopped trying to free herself.
max: what the hell, mike?
mike: just... wait. i'll find what's wrong myself. just don't look this time.
max: fine! i closed my eyes just let go of me before i break your hands.
some time passed in complete, and dare she point out uncomfortable, silence. no bite back, no usual wheeler sneer.
then mike took her forearm and led through this memory. thankfully there was no need to keep her eyes closed anymore.
they were in school now. god knows all the best memories come from here. this time it's them looking for dart.
max: ... it was your bathroom, right?
mike: goddammit max i asked you not to look!
max: i didnt! i just saw a bathroom and you in it before you freaked out.
mike: ...
max: there was no water tho and thankfully you were not naked.
mike was actively ignoring her now.
max: you were holding something.
mike: drop it, max.
max was a little shocked to see mike of all people appear in vecna's mindscape. i guess she just now finally understood the weight of what it meant.
she thought mike's an open book. she was so wrong.
max: mike...
she started but made a fatal mistake. she sounded like she pitied him.
mike: oh my god!
he turned around, annoyed, finally showing teeth.
mike: i got taken by vecna. it comes with the program, keep up. can we move on now.
she can't say she's surprised that he's allergic to those type of conversations. she can't blame him either. after all, she's the same.
max: okay. moving on. but we are so talking about later.
mike rolls his eyes but says nothing.
she would've loooved to drop it. she sucks at emotional support or whatever. but mike definitely wasn't planning on bringing it up, probably ever. and he's a pain in the ass but he's also her friend. and she hates seeing him like this.
she's plenty suicidal herself but it's different. she never acted on it.
max: look at us. in a world of monsters that can easily kill us we decide to take matters into our own hands.
mike looks at her, analyzing. he's as smart as he's annoying.
mike: yeah. i guess we're freaks.
max: speak for yourself.
they are so talking about it later. just need to get out of this shithole first.
