17294444 to much is going on in this design. i like the colors but good lord
There's a lot here so let's talk about it!
First and foremost, there's way too many colors in this palette.
You see how a lot of these look like the same color? That's an issue!
To fix this, I would combine all of the blacks into one color, probably the bottom most one.
All of the purples adjacent to each other look VERY similar, and if you get rid of every other color on the first column of colors, you'd have a much better palette.
For the markings, something that people talk about a lot (particularly in animation) is "floating" markings. Essentially markings that don't have any anchor on the body to make its placement identifiable from any position. This can hurt your design and make it harder to redraw later!
The ghost on the hair is the best example of this!
It also doesn't help that the ears change positions between each ref. In the headshot, they're squished together in a solid shape, in the chibi ref, theyre separate but symmetrical, in the fullbody they're separate but lean on one side of the head.
For the stomach ghosts, I think a better way to incorporate them would be to have the ghost spouting off of the topmost leg stripe. This connects it to markings that DO have a tangible connection to the body (the stripes match the curvature of the leg, so they feel like a part of the character.)
You could also get rid of the leg stripes completely and use the arm stripes for this.
The hair having two lines of dyed edges is also contributing to the cluttered feeling.
I really like the choice to make the face and hair indistinct from one another, it's interesting and lends to the character feeling supernatural or mysterious in some way. The purple edges of the hair obstruct this though, in a way that detracts from a really cool design choice.
Leaving the purple edges to just the tendrils would be a good compromise.
That's all I can really think so say.
As I've repeated way too much already, the best way to fix these things is to draft your design!! Go through multiple small concepts.
I think the pop design urge to put a ton of detail to exaggerate motifs (the overdoing of the ghost theme instead of leaving it to be more subtle) is really destructive. It also makes these designs a pain to own and try to draw.
