Rambling about my skincare that no one will read 🤣
I'm so weird with makeup. My skin care products cost more than my actual makeup. I always think makeup truly looks good if your skin under the makeup is healthy and smooth.
I'm in my 40s. Yeah I hate saying it but yeah I'm old and I have sometimes posted filter-less pics to show my face on here.
I, however, have no wrinkles. Not a brag. But people in my family actually physically age slower.
People think my grandfather that is pushing 90 is actually 70, my mother looks like she's in her 40s at most. My now adult son's school has given me a hard time picking him up cos they think I'm lying about being his mother. Sometimes they even thought I was his girlfriend 🤮.
Also my son gets confused for a very tall 14 year old cos he's got an extremely baby face.
We're mixed af too (we've got black, indigenous, white and even southeast Asian. Our French and Spanish blood is surprisingly minimal according to tests. There's a lot of white looking relatives that have black mothers in my family. But we assume the slow aging has to do with certain mixed ethnicities that are known to age slower)could explain it. We also have weird hyper pigmentation issues.
Due to how "weird" my skin is I have to blend my foundations in special measures. My skin is a natural light golden brown, when tanned I'm literally a reddish brown. My skin is forever changing but due to this I have the weirdest pigmentation.
For instance my lips are two tones. Some people think I lined my lips but nope, that brown outlining my lips is my own pigmentation.
My eyelids are also a natural dark brown so if I want to have eyeshadow stand out I have to use white (pure paper white) foundation with sunblocking moisturizer over my eyelids and even under my eyes cos even that skin is darkly pigmented (my mother has the same issue and she's slightly darker than me).
My younger half sister was born black and she's also got pigmentation issues like this so we're literally all blending foundations with different shade concealers for different parts of our faces 🤣. (We mostly use Elf. And we mix it with moisturizers and SPF. It doesn't matter what skin color you are, protect your skin from the sun.)
I had an uncle who is dark skinned and he got skin cancer in his forehead. Everyone thought it was "protuding freckles" but it was cancer and they had to remove so much cancerous skin you could see his skull. I can't stress enough how important it is to protect your skin from the sun.
This happened to a black man. Don't risk your skin like he did, please.
Sorry for my random ass (as usual) getting off subject. But as I was saying... I wonder if other mixed people have this pigmentation issue.
For instance red or pink blush looks like crap on me but purple blush is just perfect for me. I was surprised myself. Who would have thought purple blush was the answer 😂? A combination of bright red lipstick with clay brown really covers up the 2 tones of my lips (and creates a pretty color)
Gold or silver shimmer around eyes can distract from hyper pigmentation around the eyes if you haven't done a good foundation blend to cover up dark lids and under eyes.
Also covering dark circles is done best after you do your eye makeup, especially if you're using eye makeup darker than your skin.
Yeah it sounds like a lot of work but you get used to it over the years. I used to have freckles but they have gradually vanished due to me using creams for hyper pigmentation.
Gonna organize my skin care stuff and throw away expired creams (super important. I've seen what expired lotions can do 👀😱. Like literal skin peeling off and tumor-like pimples, redness and pus. 😟)
"I'm half-White, a quarter Black, and a quarter Japanese."
No, you're not. I don't see it. How can you be all of those things? Are you really? You're not Japanese. You're not Black. Now that you say it, I can kind of see it in your eyes. Oh, that explains it. I thought you were Mexican. You're not Mexican? Are you sure you're not Mexican? Are you Spanish? Are you Brazilian? Are you Argentinian? Are you (insert any ambiguously brown race here)? But you don't act Japanese. But you don't act Black.
These are just a few of the things people have said to me throughout my life when I answer the question, "What are you?", truthfully.
