@sabrinadhenson: I’m #Black and White! And oh that’s an interesting question. I would just say that growing up I was almost always bullied for my curls. It was too frizzy, unkempt, or my favorite “you look better with straight hair”. Later on; I found that through my adulthood I was constantly putting oil in my hair to better manage it but on a subconscious level the truth was way deeper. I needed help maintaining it but I also did it to tame the volume and make it less noticeable because society told me that big hair was unattractive. Through pages like yours sis and just the overall acceptance of natural ethnic hair textures I’ve embraced my curls for the first time in my whole life. I always wanted the straight hair because I thought it would just make me fit in. Not cause too much attention. Whereas now I have the confidence to rock big hair and not give a damn about how anybody feels about it. Curls are beautiful and I’m happy I’m walking in that!" 🏴🏳️🇺🇸 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ With the 2020 Tokyo Olympics finally happening a year later after being postponed due to the pandemic, I'll be highlighting #mixed Olympians and athletes you may or may not know about.
