You can overcome failure
When I started community college, I failed most of my classes and was even put on academic suspension.
I was a straight A student in high school, and I remember how embarrassing and frustrating it was to be forced to take a semester off because my grades were so bad. I was so humiliated that I didn't even tell my older sisters about it until years after the fact.
I easily could have used that experience to write myself out of academics. I could have told myself that college wasn't the right path for me because I wasn't even good enough to do the beginner courses. But I didn't. I went back and now I'm at my dream university studying what I love with a degree in my sights.
When academic probation or suspension or even just a failing grade hits you, it's really easy to feel alone in your experiences. Nobody likes to talk about their failures. I'm here to share my experience and tell anyone out there struggling that those failures do not define you. They are a wonderful teaching experience when you face them and assess what you could have done differently. What's important is that you remember that there are no dead ends in life. Be flexible in your goals if you absolutely must, but I believe that with determination there is always a way to make your dreams come true.
Let yourself grieve if you've lost a battle, but don't give up on the fight. Talk to someone you love, and talk to a counselor about your options. Even my inbox is open if you want to talk more about what you're going through. You're not alone, and you are capable of great things. Failure doesn't define you.
