Ka'i - Song/I am singing

There is this song about rice pudding that was sung around me and sung around my brothers and sisters and peers, sometimes the lyrics went like this:

"Arroz con leche mi querio casar Con una señorita de San Nicolás"

"Que sepa coser, que sepa coser"

"Rice with Milk, I want to marry With a young woman from St. Nicholas"

"Who knows how to embroider and who knows how to sew"

There's tons of different other lyrics, mostly alluding to this young woman being a subservient wife.

Sometimes when I was little I changed the lyrics around, to make her sound like an evil step mother, or make her dance and sing.

I have been wondering about what kind of dreams this woman had, what sort of ways she expressed herself in the song.

Does she want to sing or write? Does she want to party and dance? All the women in my life who I admire all have dreams. I wonder what dreams I will realize.

Mayito está rindiendo culto a la diosa Chalchiuhticue por los colores de su enagua de jade, lleva un hupil amarillo con motivos del sol en oro, también lleva aretes de oro y pulseras de jade, lo que más resalta es la vasija en forma de garra que lleva en la mano, en ella lleva coloridas plumas y su ofrenda a la Diosa, muy bonitos colores fuuu!

Mayito is worshipping the goddess Chalchiuhticue through the colors of her jade petticoat. She is wearing a yellow huipil with gold sun motifs. She is also wearing gold earrings and jade bracelets. What stands out the most is the claw-shaped vessel she is carrying in her hand. In it, she is carrying colorful feathers and her offering to the Goddess. Very pretty colors, fuuu!

Pintando historias Esta pieza se titula Tributo a la vida. Fue un encargo muy especial; un noble hombre me contacto para comisionarme una pintura que celebrara la llegada de su primer nieto. Por esos días yo estaba dibujando un árbol de la vida inspirado en el mito fundacional del pueblo ñuu savi o Mixteco donde se menciona que la primera mujer y el primer hombre nacieron de un árbol; el árbol de Apoala. Estaba reflexionando sobre la maravillosa idea de que somos hijos de los árboles en la cosmogonía ñuu savi y por coincidencia en este pedido pude plasmar un árbol de la vida que contiene un bebé en su vientre. En la platica con el cliente surgió la idea de poner a una pareja debajo de un árbol de la vida soñando con la llegada del bebé. El bebé es como un fruto en el árbol; ahí se encuentran varias flores mexicanas, frutos de la milpa y cacao, también un nido de colibrí y al centro una orquídea, la flor favorita de la nueva mamá. El bebé ya nació y fue una hermosa niña. La pintura ya fue entregada al orgulloso abuelo quien la obsequió a la pareja de padres primerizos.
