bro idk why they care? if you really give a shit about climate change, to the point of screaming at someone who makes an off topic comment on the post, then just boost the post yourself? stop giving a shit about what a 17 y/o kid does and give the actual post attention? 

if anything, tommy unintentionally showed that post to thousands of his followers that wouldn’t have seen it otherwise! 

It would be so much better for everyone over at twitter, if they actually gave a shit about the causes they’re ‘defending” and helped raise awareness about the cause, not Tommy!

Hello, I saw your post on Tumblr etiquette! I was wondering if you could give an overview on it, as I’m p new here, i didn’t come from mcytwt, my arrival alongside them was a coincidence lol-

hello! i think i covered the most important stuff in the etiquette post, but heres a couple of notable things: 

tagging

-tag your trigger warnings! add tw (subject matter) or (subject matter) tw, and same thing for content warnings

-if you find yourself wanting to filter any content you can go to your settings and find the tag filter section

just add any tags and any content that is tagged with that will be blocked. make sure to add many variations of that tag, just in case. 

-if you’re here for mcyt content, and you plan to make mcyt content, do not tag “minecraft” or add minecraft to any of your tags

-if you make a critical post, don't tag the creator or character its about! tag 

#(person) critical or #c!(person) critical 

this way it does not show up in the main tag, and bother the people who are just trying to look at cool fanart. even if its important discourse, even if you’re looking for a difference of opinion, don’t main tag critical stuff!

-make sure to add “c!” in front of a content creators name if you are talking about their character, or “cc!” if you are referring to the creator themselves. its not really a nessicary every time, but if you’re regularly switching, its important to let people know who you’re talking about. i’ve seen people on other platforms use smp!(character) or rp!(character) too, but c! or cc! is the most common on on tumblr. 

reblogs

-make sure to reblog the posts you enjoy, likes do nothing! 

-art and fanfics thrive off reblogs!

-you don't need to add tags or any comments, but leaving kind words for the creator is very nice!

-you can make a tagging system if you’d like, for example tag with “my art” on the art you post, or “reblog” when you reblog something. this way, you can easily find your content when searching though your blog. its not nessicary, but it helps with organization.

What happened on Twitter to make a bunch of people come to Tumblr? (I'm not into Minecraft or any related fandoms, so I'm out of the loop.)

a few things i think. its mainly the toxic environment in the mcyt community on twt. its gotten to the point where fans are purposefully crossing creators boundaries to provoke a response after their “educate not cancel” strategy doesn’t work. its a really gross environment and absolutely riddled with performative activism.

a lot of fans are coming over to tumblr because twitter and its environment is bad for their mental health.

ok so! in case you weren’t aware, mercury is the name of a planet, a chemical, and the roman god. 

mercury the god is the roman equivalent of Hermes, the god of travelers and thieves, who is known for speed

mercury the chemical is a slivery chemical found in the earths crust. its atomic number is 80. It is used in a lot of  thermometers, barometers and other scientific instruments. it conducts electricity and is used to make fluorescent lights. it can also me highly toxic when consumed. mercury poisoning can cause “mad hatters disease”  after inhaling mercury vapors. it can cause “emotional, mental, and behavioral changes” Mercury is also nicknamed “quick sliver” because of its metallic look.

Power: Quick Silver 

What the power is: You have the ability to speed up things! Since quicksilver and the god Mercury are associated with speed, I was thinking super speed? but that's kind of boring, so! you move at the normal speed, but you have the ability to speed up things around you. You can speed up everything in the reach of your power, or specific things. Since you can speed things up, you might as well be a be to slow things down too. This means you can increase or decrease the velocity of things (or people, really). 

Downsides: You have a limited radius, a few hundred meters, maybe? And if you speed up living things (animals or humans) for an long period of time, they have a chance of developing mad hatters disease (or, at least, a fictional version of it) that causes fits of paranoia.
