Poor Chris... He made a mistake when he was 14, but I can understand everyone's anger at how he just *stayed* out of Hope and Frisk's lives, even after he'd snapped at his parents... Still, though, if I were Hope, I'd have forgiven him by now. There's no point in staying mad and grouchy at someone that is genuinely wanting to apologize and help, even if it's years late. Also he's been verbally bludgeoned by Sans and Deacon AND Hope now, so I mean. I think we're good, lmao.

Well he only stood up to his parents basically after she’d gone missing and was in the Underground, so he didn’t really have a chance after that point to try and get back in Hope’s life, unless he was willing to cross the Line as soon as it opened. Which wouldn’t have meant very much for all the years before that (since it would have only been a few months earlier than it is right now).

But I don’t think that Hope was very grouchy at the end of this chapter? If anything, she was the most understanding by the end of it out of all of them (with Sans and Deacon being a lot angrier in general for their own reasons).

Also this like... happened in the space of like, two hours? Maybe three? She hasn’t had a huge amount of time to process. But I don’t think she gave the impression of holding a grudge, personally.

I am a long time secret lurker and lover of WTMYH and I have to send you this just so you know that the final scene really hit me hard. My own mom was terrible and Hope managed to do what I've wanted to do for so long, but have been too afraid to. So there was empowerment that came with reading that scene and it feels really good. That aside, I ADORED Act One. Started reading it back when it was a little four chapter baby!! EVERYTHING IS GOOD AND I LOVE YOU, THANN YOU FOR YOUR WORK!!! <3

I’m sorry that your own mom was terrible. I never want to hear that people can relate to Hope’s experiences so closely, but I’m glad that what I’ve written could give you that good feeling. Glad it came off well. delstimpson ~ Completely agree that this can apply to a multitude of people. This is just a telling of my own story. Just hoping that it helps other victims of such treatment to speak out.
