Ancient Memories and shorline blobs by Mizzy Pacheco Via Flickr: Took a small step away from the camera as of late... seems to be a reoccurring trend of mine in the summer months of Malibu gloom...I do think the fog gets into my brain.... but the winds are changing and the shutter seems to be calling to me again from the dusty bag of electronics that blocks my shoe ridden stairway to the dungeon. So is life I suppose, My dreams and desires crash in the surf, rolling in the deep you might say. and left in the glittery morning shoreline, is a faint imprint of my recent sandy castles.... in place of it's once rigid towers of polished glass and shells.. just blobs of beach pimples remain... but still I build. I'm a builder with many unfinished pieces, perhaps some day they will equal something yet unseen and worthy of such a life spend hunting in the dark. Something bigger than the single fractured piece itself. Bigger than just a 2 dimensional image or moving picture to sound. After all, limbs come and go. Twiggly branches twist and break in the trials of weather that befall us. One might say our convictions are the trunk that carry the burden of such calamities. And our determination the fuel to passions like water to the root of our very soul. Me, I'm collecting my fallen twigs for a personal bonfire. Wish me luck. NOW, In celebration of the eastern sierra fall color extravaganza about to take place just beyond the eastern sierra gateway. I present an image I took one stormy clouded day in may 2015 of a well known and often photographed bristle cone pine along the Methuselah trail. I was quite stricken with elevation sickness at the time of this snap and missed the sunset that day, but had a few head pounding hours to snap handheld under the brooding clouds before the pounding sent me running for lower ground. I'm one of the unfortunate few who can only withstand higher elevations for several days before succumbing to agonizing head aches. For that reason I'm often at the mercy of the almighty hourglass. I credit Tylenol for this image.... and the maker of clouds himself. See ya soon.
12 Moons #4 The Pink Moon
The Pink Moon: Production stills.
What a glorious morning.. I just returned from the final day of flower moon love, finishing up filming for Episode #5 “The Flower Moon”. May was kind to me. Great month filled with extreme azimuth settings and strange, lucky clear skies. I had to climb a few fences to escape the coming tide this morning, as my way in to a particular location was closed off from the rising tide as I was shooting, it was either climb a wicked fence or wander through some rich and famous persons house to reach my car :) I chose the fence. That episode will be a while, But, I thought I would share a few stills from “The Pink Moon” episode, which I’m currently in post for. maybe a week or so until I release it.
Much needed rest on the menu for me, with plenty of strawberry pancakes and Nawang khechog.
PS The Swallows have returned.
The Crow Moon - 3 of 12 by Mizzy Pacheco Via Flickr: Our beloved Full Crow Moon as it set into a windy sky over the pacific ocean at El Matador State Beach Wednesday morning March 23rd 2016. 12 Moons Over Paradise: Episode #3 The Crow Moon
It is with great intentions that I present Episode #3 of my 12 Moons Over Paradise. The Crow Moon. I chilled a little on the frantic deadlines and tried to be like flowing water. Marches moon hunt was a really great moon month, unlike the snow moon which didn’t show me much love in the image category. All the more reason to stay the course I suppose. Hope you enjoy the music as well, wrote a few new pieces just for the crow... and even threw in some Blessid oldies but goodies in light of our march reunion. I hope you enjoy. Just finished the April filming, doing post now. “here fishy fishy”. I’ll post some production stills in a few days.
“Move like a butterfly, sting like a bee!”
While shooting a timelapse for the next 12 moons episode, the crow moon, I took a second to grab some iPhone video. On the edge of the fog wave, about a minute from home in corral canyon. Each day is a gift. @malibu
12 Moons Over Paradise: The Snow Moon
Well well, it was a long month, hard to believe I’m already filming episode #3. I came down with a terrible flu during the post and final editing stages of episode #2 “The Snow Moon” which actually set me back 2 weeks considering I couldn’t record voice dialog until I could actually speak again :) But, I’m back at it and feeling much better, and just in time... we just had a beautiful moon set at El Matador for Episode #3, I’m moonstruck. Spring is here and so are the frogs. Hope you enjoyed the Snow while it lasted.
