Maahes
A Lion Eukaryonite who choose a quiet life as a farmer and lived on the outskirts of the kingdom. He is not as involved with the kingdom due to his duties and worked with his childhood best friend Lunara.
He did his best to be a good friend to Lunara but she was constantly harassed by others in Eukaryona, and felt she wanted more. He was given private training lessons from one of the knights Fortis the hippo and trained with a combat hammer.
Everything changed when Queen Apalla died and Eukaryona shifted its rule. King Cerveras would force all of his people to make weapons and raise their defenses after his corruption. The rumors of Edenia had caused great anger and fear for King Cerveras which caused many residents to flee the kingdom.
Others were not as lucky as Maahes would invite others who did not escape to hide in his barn until they came up with a plan. Maahes was once reserved but opted to become a leader for the refugees. Unfortunately this wouldn’t last as Lunara was a mole to King Cerveras, secretly aiding him and giving him the info needed to invade.
King Cerveras attacked the farm with his forces corrupting everyone. Maahes and Lunara were the only two remaining, Maahes would battle King Cerveras in a duel. Both were evenly sized and strong, Maahes focused on his training and nearly prevailed.
However, Lunara betrayed him, she attacked him from the back and caused him to lose his footing. Maahes never received such betrayal as Lunara stood side by side with King Cerveras and was corrupted by the vial the king made, to corrupt all mammals with the canine tooth and carnivorous ancestors. His mind warped and now Maahes is King Cerveras’ enforcer, forced to serve his corrupt king and his best friend who betrayed him.
Maahes would continue to serve Lunara for many years even after the untimely death of King Cerveras. But Lunara knows the true worth of her friend, if she can get Maahes stronger, she may be able to bargain with Shang Tsung, Maahes soul for the soul of her lost love.
Maahes is a tragic example and victim of King Cerveras’ and now Queen Lunara’s leadership, it may be possible a certain dragon king may have use of his soul to exact revenge and summon a forgotten ally.
Notes: I designed Maahes using my original design for King Cerveras who was going to be a lion in early drafts. I settled with King Cerveras being a panther because there are too many lions villains and a panther villain was much prefered. I decided his design was cool enough to make into a separate character.
