Drawing Armageddon Roster
Pt. 27: Moloch
Master List
Mirror Drahmin/TR Drahmin
Nowadays a member of the Oni race in the Netherrealm. Drahmin had been a warlord in Outworld during his days walking among the living, known for his brutality and ruthlessness. He had been born in one of the most violent conflict-filled regions of Outworld, where one needed to be strong to survive, and he had decided to be the strongest, most ambitious warrior there. His power and brilliant strategic mind earned him a loyal army of followers with which he conquered many parts of his region while annihilating any enemy in his way.
Nonetheless, the cruel warlord found himself unable to expand his territory far from his birth region when he discovered the existence of the dragon Onaga and his alliance, who were too powerful even for him. Having a lust for power too strong to hold himself back, Drahmin decided to expand his territory in other realms first to gather enough forces to continue the conquest of his home realm. He chose Edenia, the realm he believed full of weaklings due to their ‘peaceful’ ideals, as his target. His arrogance led him to his appropriate end.
After he attacked some Edenian towns, the Edenian Regime’s forces struck back, swiftly demolishing Drahmin’s army. Drahmin eventually had to face the young but powerful sorceress Delia, who reduced the warlord to ashes. As payment for his crimes in life, Drahmin’s soul wasn’t only sent to the Netherrealm, but to its fifth plane. That plane was one of the most brutal environments that could be found through the realms, inhabited by decree of the once ruler and protector god of the realm Lucifer, by one of the most powerful species: the Oni. There, Drahmin would experience suffering like no other.
For hundreds of years, Drahmin was subjected to unspeakable tortures which would shape his being in different ways, with both his body and sanity being affected by it until the point that he was no longer anything like his old self. The torture would have continued for far longer if it wasn’t for an Oni who thought he was already screaming too much, Moloch. He convinced his fellow Oni to stop torturing Drahmin, and explained to him that, as had happened with others like him, he was now considered another Oni and citizen of the fifth plane.
At that point, the person Drahmin had been was already gone in many ways. He could barely remember his name and the few other things he remembered of his past life were just sporadic events which seemed like dreams, or nightmares. He knew he would need someone to stay alongside and guide him through his new home, and asked Moloch to be that person. Moloch didn’t mind it, he thought the skinny man was fun and could become his new buddy. He was quite right, as the two of them would turn out to be a powerful duo, especially good at torturing other dark souls which arrived on the fifth plane. It wasn’t exactly a pretty life, as you may have guessed… and yet, Drahmin actually managed to bond with Moloch, if only because he had been the one who put an end to his torment and helped him adapt to his new dangerous environment. Both of them ended up enjoying the other’s company and support, becoming actual friends and companions.
During his time as an Oni, Drahmin found a powerful artifact, a mask called the face of Kun-Lo, which increased his power and gave him new abilities such as command over some kind of blue flame. He has worn the mask from then on, and it, alongside his remaining intelligence and fighting skill, have earned him a respected place among the Oni, as well as a title of his own: the Oni Tormentor. His legend has earned him admiration from his fellow Oni, which made him feel welcomed in his new home, and even develop a genuine kinship with the rest of the Oni.
For many years, it seemed like that had been Drahmin’s final fate. A brutal man in his first life, and now a brutal Oni in the second one, with the only difference being that his brutality was directed towards those with enough darkness to be sent to the fifth plane. It seemed like it could change once Shinnok and his Brotherhood started his reforms.
Since he was one of the most intelligent Oni, Drahmin was the most contacted by members of the Brotherhood for negotiations of cooperation and sharing of resources, hoping the Oni could also be reformed into an actual civilization of people who could live for anything other than just torture. Drahmin had the chance to see how the demons in the first four planes could live peacefully, enjoy their lives, and compared it to the extreme conditions of his fellow Oni lived. He finally agreed to collaborate with the Brotherhood, convincing many Oni, Moloch included, to follow him. Nonetheless, the majority of Oni still distrusted the Brotherhood and kept refusing to cooperate with them, which caused stagnation in the progress of the Netherrealm’s society in the fifth plane and below, one that would have grave consequences when Cetrion arrived and took advantage of it.
After Cetrion gathered her followers, their first step was the fifth plane. First, they made sure to hunt down most of the Followers of Lucifer who hid themselves in that plane, and then they started taking control of the plane. Countless Oni have already been ‘purified’ (brainwashed) by Cetrion and added to her followers. This menace forced Drahmin to escape the fifth plane alongside many of his fellow Oni, searching for refuge in the territories of the Brotherhood. They have been fighting Cetrion’s followers alongside the Brotherhood from then on in an attempt to reclaim their territory and save the Oni whose mind has been twisted by Cetrion’s ‘purification’.
Still quite a brutal warrior despite how reasonable he has proven, it is the hope of many in the Brotherhood that collaborating with them and experiencing the life of the demons of the first four planes will help tame his violent instincts and that of the rest of the Oni. While it may be working, especially in Drahmin’s case, there’s little to no doubt that his cruel actions Drahmin performed in life will have even more consequences than they already have. After all, there’s a certain powerful hydromancer who is an ally of Cetrion as part of the Edenian Regime and hates Drahmin more than any other being…
Also, I take the chance to showcase a version of his Warlord design. Is meant to be the main universe version, but in this AU he was the same in life, so doesn't really matter.
Mirror Moloch/TR Moloch
The fifth plane of the Netherrealm is where a powerful race known as the Oni inhabit. They were sent there by Lucifer a long time ago, to take care of torturing the mortals with enough darkness in their souls to go there after death. To encourage them to fulfill their work, he recommended the Oni to feed off the flesh of those wicked souls, whose bodies would reform in the fifth plane after death over and over again, turning them being devoured just into part of their damnation. With time, the Oni discovered methods to alter the body and mind of those they tortured permanently, receiving many of them as fellow Oni once their conversion was complete to keep expanding their numbers.
Moloch was an Oni Beast, a kind of Oni known for their size and strength. Even among his kind, Moloch displayed a power and ferocity like no other, managing to destroy any opponent in his way. He started being known by the title of Oni Destroyer, feared and respected enough for only a few of the most powerful Oni daring to challenge him.
One day, Moloch was wandering through the fifth plane when he found a particular mortal being tortured, Drahmin. The little skinny man called his attention. His transformation into an Oni seemed complete, and he thought he was already making a lot of noise with his screams. He convinced his fellow Oni to stop Drahmin’s torture, and, since he didn’t really have anything else to do, he explained Drahmin he would be an Oni from then on.
Moloch also found being alongside Drahmin fun, probably for how contrasting the little man and him were as a duo. That’s why he agreed to guide Drahmin and help him adapt to his new home in the fifth plane. In the process he found Drahmin to be quite a great buddy! They had a lot of fun together, whether it was by assisting in tortures or challenging others to fights, becoming quite a fearful duo.
When Drahmin decided to try to collaborate with Shinnok's Brotherhood, Moloch followed his friend simply because he trusted him. He visited the first four planes sometimes alongside the other Oni who followed Drahmin. He watched the life the demons there lived, and initially couldn’t understand it. Giving those with darkness in their souls possibility for a second chance or just imprisonment instead of eternal torture? Dedicating themselves to build a more organized society rather than just torturing? He didn’t even hate it, but it was just strange… and yet, as time went on, he couldn’t deny it was nice in many ways, especially after seeing that people collaborating made for a more comfortable life than the one anyone could have in such a terrible environment as the fifth plane.
Moloch and the other Oni who followed Drahmin eventually saw what he had seen. They decide to bring change a chance, by stopping torturing the mortals who happened to appear in their territory and trying to organize a more similar society to those of the four planes. Given that there were still many Oni who refused to change their ways, it was quite a difficult and slow process, and one which was interrupted when they had to escape their plane to avoid Cetrion and her followers.
Now collaborating with the Brotherhood more than ever while fighting Cetrion’s followers, Moloch and his fellow Oni more often than not have to hold back their brutality against their foes. It’s quite annoying, but according to their allies it is an essential part of changing the ways of the Netherrealm, the very thing they had agreed to do. Hopefully, time will help Moloch and the rest to keep adapting and changing.
Since Moloch is the tallest MK character (17 feet high),does his Chibi form as tall as someone's knee? Or most adult Chibis (except Ferra due she's petite) are same height?
