Kotal is my all time favorite, he gets his own tier.
I love these characters: Shao Kahn is my second favorite. I like Hanzo Hasashi, Johnny Cage, Liu Kang (Both Mortal and God versions) I really like God Raiden, Reptile, Ermac and Erron Black. I really like Jade. She is cool, she is green and even though the romance between her and Kotal came out of nowhere I think the ship is rather cute. I really like both Kitana and Mileena. I like Kuai Liang, Female Khameleon, Fujin, Shinnok, Tanya, Onaga, Ashrah, Sareena, Johnny Cage, Geras and Takeda. I really like Sindel in all her games with the exception of mk11 that version of her was trash. I really like Female Cyrax. Normally I don’t like genderbend characters but Cyrax surprised me with how good she was written.
Has Potential (Characters that would be better if they had some improvements): Male Chameleon has great potential to be something more. Like I have plans for him to be written as Onaga’s son, true heir to Outworld’s throne. Meat has potential to be good if you retcon him to be a different character. For example I have an original character called Hadokuro who is a replacement for meat. Instead of being one of Shang’s experiment, Hadokuro is one of Onaga’s undead soldiers that was spared from the mass suicide ritual. Kronika would have gotten into the garbage tier and erased from history, but I believe I may have the solution to fix her. First you make her an Elder God, second you make her the One Being’s living vessel.
Noob Saibot would have been fine but I see him with potential. Perhaps as the Elder Gods’ Champion similar to Scorpion in the midway timeline. You could do some parallels with this plot. Sonya Blade is fine as a character but she could have story potential if she was made a Revenant. Kintaro is the most boring out of the three Shokan but I think he has the most potential to be the best out of the three. I’ve got plans for the kitty cat. Smoke is pretty good though I see potential in him playing a villain role. The only reason Jezebel isn’t in straight up garbage please erase them from history is because I see potential in her being a Sindel imposter plot line. Kai has some potential to be really good if the writer knew how to use him. Drahmin has the potential to be something greater. My current running idea is to make him a formally God of Outworld, be killed by Onaga and imprisoned by Shinnok to be remade into a weapon for evil. Li Mei has the potential to be written as a double agent for the Holy men. Nitara would have gone into dislike but I see potential in her being better written. Dairou, Darrius and Hotaru have potential to be something greater if the writer did something with Orderrealm. Mk1 Havik has Potential considering he is this timeline's Dairou and you could do some interesting stuff with that information.
Cassie is alright if not a bit annoying. But she could be better. I would have rewritten her as a famous female wrestler. Ferra has potential to be something great. Ultimately she and Torr are fine in mkx, though I would rewrite Ferra to be formally from Earthrealm. Cetrion has potential to be something greater. She should be written as the voice of reason among the elder gods, but also have a secret envy that holds her back. This envy may or may not be taken advantage of by a certain fallen elder god. Dark Raiden has potential to be something greater if the writer had the guts to keep him around. Kobra has Potential if you write him as a Saurian.
Fine / Tolerable: Bi-han is fine overall, though he could have done with some better writing. Goro just exist. Game Kano is fine, he serves his purpose well. In the movies though he’s great and entertaining. Shang Tsung is fine. Kung Lao is fine. Baraka is Tolerable. Blaze is fine as a story plot but he’s nothing more than a living macguffin. Kabal is fine. Nightwolf is fine. Frost is fine. Kenshi is already. Shujinko is ok as a character. Skarlet serves her purpose. Kung Jin is pretty good, but not enough to make him a favorite. Mortal Raiden is fine though I wish Kung Lao had been the protagonist of mk1. Bo’ Rai Cho is tolerable. He would have gotten into like tier but I really don't like his kombat style.
Boring as Hell: Jaxs is boring. Male Cyrax and Sektor are boring. Motaro is boring which is a shame cause the Centaurians should be explored more. Stryker is boring. Reiko is boring. Hsu Hao is boring. Mavado is boring. Mokap is boring. Kira is boring. Although as a story idea you have her be a Red Dragon defector. Daegon and Taven are nothing burgers. Daegon's only saving grace is that he is the leader of the Red Dragon. Taven has nothing going for him. Triborg is boring and only exists to make all Cyborgs playable in mkx. Tremor is boring. Despite one of my earlier statements, Torr is boring. Only Ferra is the interesting one out of the two.
I don’t like them: Female Sektor is annoying as hell and a big simp for an already badly written character. The only reason NRS change their gender is because they are too cowardly to make Sektor gay. Sheeva is really annoying. Quan Chi is bad, he steals a lot of aura from Shang Tsung. But he does serve a purpose as Shinnok’s right hand. I don’t like Mk1 Tanya, they just turned her into Jade 2.0. I don’t like D’Vorah. However she is a unique fighter
Straight up garbage characters should be erased from the series: Jarek is a cheap replacement for Kano. He shouldn’t exist, get rid of him. However if you wanted to redeem him you could have him as Kano’s son. Moloch is a waste of space, get rid of him. Jacqui Briggs is boring and a waste of a character slot. Get rid of her. Cole Young is a very bad character. I know Floyd is a joke character but his only purpose is to replace Chameleon. Shouldn’t exist, get rid of him. Kollector is ok but he’s kind of useless to the plot. He won’t be missed if he was erased.
I need more people acknowledging the fact Liu Kang has ties to Onaga without actually having met Onaga in canon. HE HAS ONAGAS FIRE POWER!! Why does no one talk about this? Liu Kang is the dragon king’s decent! Or at the very least biologically distantly related to him in some way. Liu Kang could have some sort of dragon power other than his fire, imagine one game he just grows wings and horns and people are like “wait that’s so similar to Onaga’s??” Not to mention he is always associated with dragons- he turns into one during some instances!
GUYS PLEASE ITS SO COOL! I wanna see fire Dragon Liu Kang!!
