Bi-Han thought:
Most people see Bi-Hans resentment for his father and headcanon that his father was very strict with Bi-Han particularly. Hence his lack of willingness to hear a spiel about honor and his dad’s morals.
But personally, my headcanon is that his father is an adamant and tough leader (in order for the Lin Kuei to be as discliplined as they are) but I think he’d have to be particularly fair, kind and inspiring for everybody but especially his own children (Kuai and Tomas) to cherish and value his every word and belief.
Also Bi-Han hates his father’s dynamic with Liu Kang which makes me think he was like Jerrod.
Another headcanon I have is that the trio’s mother was also kind and nurturing but particularly protective and ambitious. Passionate where their father was level headed.
I envision one night, Bi-Han as a kid over hearing a “not-argument” between his parents where his mother expresses some frustration at the state of the world and her feeling like they’re being limited by Liu Kang. Not even that she has a real problem with Liu Kang but she doesn’t understand why the Lin Kuei only protects earthrealm from other realms and doesn’t help earth with their domestic issues when she feels her husband has the power and honor to do so. I think such a conversation where Bi-Han hears his fathers dismiss his mother frustrations, in favor of remaining hidden and not concerning himself with responsibilities outside of the Lin Kuei and Liu Kang and not sharing what makes the Lin Kuei great with the world, and his mother’s obvious disagreement would stick with him. And is probably why he believes his mother would approve of the direction Bi-Han is taking the Lin Kuei.
And is why there’s a disconnect in how the brothers believe their mom would react. Kuai Liang and Tomas remembering the kind nurturing woman who wants to help and protect people and Bi-Han, who remembers the ambitious woman who believed the Lin Kuei’s greatness deserved to be exalted by the world.
I think Bi-Han’s a mamas boy, not because he think his dad was an asshole, but because he thinks he was too cowardly and soft for his strong mother.
