Last week, I was asked by @aegor-bamfsteel to make a post related to Mkhaya the packy’s 1st birthday. So, I decided to do two! This week at the San Diego Zoo (technically the San Diego Safari Park, if you want the exact truth) the baby packy Mkhaya celebrated her first birthday! Here’s a picture of her having a stroll with her mother & making sure not to run into that big rock!

Another #RhinoFact from our #media trip to gather information on #rhino #conservation: did you know that it costs R6000 per month per calf per week for the milk formula? We met these two boisterous youngsters at #mkhaya, one of #swaziland's gorgeous #BigGameParks, where they are being cared for by the legendary Reilly family, long time #nature custodians here in the #kingdom. Huge thanks must once again go to the #ComanisFoundation and their tireless founder, Corinne Itten, for funding the #RhinoFacts mission. #pentax #ecotravel #natureconservation (at Mkhaya Game Reserve)
Hey. #stepbackstepback #youdontknowmelikethat #giraffe #forMelissa #latergram #africa #Swaziland #mkhaya
The first swimming crocodile we meet in Swaziland!!!
(Which means the others we met just stay in the water just like floating logs~) Maybe next time we can see a crocodile opens its mouth and swallows something!
Swazi believes that crocodiles hate DOG! It is because crocodiles think dogs may eat their babies. In order to avoid be eaten by crocodiles when passing a river, you had better take on a dog with you. So that you can sacrifice the dog to crocodiles for your own safety.

2013.06.23 Day Tour in Mkhaya, Swaziland
We started our journey from Matsapha to Mkhaya. It took about an hour to reach the destination. We drove on the MR3 through Manzini and turned right onto MR8, which leads to Big Band. The day tour of Mkhaya costs R620(roughly NTD1,860) with two safari and one hearty bush meal.Fortunately, who lives in Swaziland will be charged R550(roughly NTD1,650) rather than R620. Thus we got the big discount!!
The Mkhaya Nature Reserve is famous of endangered species, especially rhinos. According to the tour guide, there are four of the Big Five in the Mkhaya Nature Reserve(except for the lion).During the tour, we saw lots of rhinos, hippos, impalas zebras and one giraffe. We also met the very first swimming crocodile in Swaziland, which means the previous one we saw just stayed fixed in the lake.lol
It was a quite interesting journey, and the bush meal was also very delightful! The animals you could see and the hospitable service absolutely worth what you pay!!!
