Kaito Headcanons I'm gonna be adding into my writing of him: Finally a list has been made.
He does gymnastics and has trained for it ever since he was younger. He's also pretty good with kendo (considering how he was able to hold out long enough when faced with Heiji who is exceptionally skilled at it).
Can actually cook pretty well. Just doesn't do it much cuz Aoko provides meals for him most of the time.
Kaito's genuine smile is more boxy, he can make it appear sharper as KID though, masking the boxiness of it.
I like to think of Kaito's "keke" laugh as his genuine one. He uses a "haha" laugh as KID to give more differences between his two identities. He makes sure his genuine laugh doesn't slip out, but it still sometimes does anyway.
Bestowing him the honour of: BPD and Plurality (Kaitou KID headmate upon him now).
What Kaito REALLY doesn't like about fish is its head. He can eat seafood so long as it's just the meat, such as sushi.
Has a separate place to keep all his birds at.
Tends to make friends with animals way too easily, any stray that crosses his vicinity are his buddies now. Naturally, he still makes sure to be cautious around strays as well.
Makes sure to carry some animal foods with him whenever possible just in case.
Always carries tiny plushies with him just in case he needs to cheer a stranger up and gifts one of it to them.
Good with claw machines. Those lil plushies are definitely from it.
Skilled with handicraft of any kind. Some of the plushies are actually made by him.
Kaito uses a black wig as KID.
Because of the incident with Inspector Nakamori seeing his face (Magic Kaito Ep. 2), Kaito now uses makeup to hide his real face a little more. He gives himself sharper features, making him appear slightly older as KID.
Kaito's KID outfit is fitted for his dad so it will always look big on him. He can modify them but Kaito doesn't want to. It's one of the things his dad left him after all.
The only thing different in Kaito's KID outfit are the gloves. After that incident with Jack Connery (Magic Kaito Ep. 12), Kaito made tighter gloves perfectly fit for him so that it won't slip off accidentally anymore should he grab someone.
Honestly, despite KID's outfit being bigger on Kaito, it doesn't show much due to the amount of gadgets and everything else Kaito has hidden in it for his magic tricks.
Toichi is Completely DEAD to me.
Also picking stuff from canon to integrate to mkp5: Love to pick and choose what I want.
Kaito can figure out the dimensions and measurement of any structure at first glance.
Kaito having photographic memory.
Kaito being particularly skilled enough with robotics to create a robot head accurate to his face and capable of saying "Good morning, Aoko." (Magic Kaito Ep. 1).
He did it again during OVA 10, although the canon of that is shaky due to being in a Detective Conan OVA.
Skilled at hacking.
Spider existing.
Basically almost the entirety of Magic Kaito (2010) cuz I adore nearly everything that Magic Kaito had to offer.

Kaito leaving a hair strand during a heist for Hakuba to find. Why was that such a shortcut way for Hakuba to figure out KID's real identity. I'm Never acknowledging that, Hakuba can still have his suspicions via his deductive abilities but NOT LIKE THAT.
It also won't work in my AU anymore too since I'll have Kaito wearing a wig whenever he's KID before Hakuba even arrived.
Aoko constantly showing fish to Kaito. I'm only letting her get a Slight pass if Kaito annoyed her a bunch. But I'd rather write Aoko as one who doesn't bring up fish much around Kaito.

Kaito being somewhat of an adrenaline junkie. The thrill of the chase got to him now.
Kaito having small freckles spread about his body <3 He covers those with makeup as KID though.
I'm going to give him some moles as well while I'm at it. Nothing on the face, mainly on his body. He also uses makeup to hide those.
Kaito's cupid's bow being uneven. I just looove that lil detail in the fic, I want it for him fr now! And ofc, as per the usual, he uses make up to make his lips even.
Kaito being able to see fairly well in the dark!
Inspired Slightly this time. Kaito having a higher tolerance to anesthetics but as a genetic thing instead. Trips to the dentist is a nightmare cuz of it but at least it's a useful thing to have as KID. Kinda...
Some headcanons for far into the future: This post is getting long whoops.
I like to think of Kaito still continuing on with KID even after everything with Pandora is resolved (hc influenced by the fic: "a study in scarlette"). He's just not as active as before since without Pandora, Kaito's targets will just be counterfeiters and accepting Jirokichi's challenges.
I've also been playing around with ideas for mkp5's third semester cuz I wanna drag Kaito into it. My first idea is that Kaito met with Maruki and they got to talk (Maruki ends up learning about Kaito a lot from Akiren). Kaito getting dragged in third semester was also how he was gonna learn about Akiren's secret and find out that Akiren had changed Kaito's heart before therefore already knowing about Kaito's secret. Broken trust angst occurs.
So that idea was before I wanted a different dynamic and changed it where both Knows the other has a secret but neither knows What it is. So if I drag Kaito in third semester, he's bound to find out about Akiren's secret. SO! My new idea now that I'm currently playing around with is that Maruki never got to personally meet Kaito but cuz of all the stuff Akiren most likely told him about Kaito, during third semester we now have Cognitive Kaito!
A "Kaito" that's formed from all the things Akiren sees him as and all the things Akiren wants for him (happiness and the like). A "Kaito" that's molded by and for Akiren. In this place, Kaito is "happy", freed from whatever problem he may have, safe from any dangers that he may be hiding himself and others from. So Akiren, which reality will it be?
For my Main main au though, I think I prefer Kaito not having an arcana at all. As like-- a way for Kaito to just blend in the background as a side character to the entirety of p5 events cuz Akiren himself doesn't wanna involve Kaito in the whole thing. Kaito isn't a social link cuz Akiren would rather build that wall himself if it means making sure Kaito doesn't get dragged into it. I think it'd be very fun.
Kaito who most likely has a Palace of his own and Akiren's growing urge to explore and steal Kaito's heart as a means of helping him in the same way that they helped Futaba all while Akiren doesn't wanna intrude in Kaito's secrets. So Akiren now creates this certain wall between them just as how Kaito has his own boundary as well. They're so close to each other and yet so far.
BUT! I am playing with my touys so playing around ideas are also Very Fun. So I wanna make Kaito's Palace and social link, anyway.
Got jokid in my brain again and something that I'm tryna integrate as a core part of them is the fact that Neither confesses their secrets with each other. Kaito doesn't want to drag anyone else with his business and Akira doesn't want to subject Kaito into his own problems as well so they're in a floating state of Knowing that the other has a secret identity but neither wants to pry cuz they respect the others' decision of hiding it from em all while none of em wanting to ever tell the other of the secrets they have.
It's just sooo fun. The perpetual state of Knowing a secret while not Actually knowing what it is. The two being careful to look away from any possibility of peeking into that secret cuz they both know they have something to hide that they don't want to involve the other in. Yaknow, just the mutual understanding of secrecy and value of keeping that secret all while doing everything you can to protect whatever it is without giving into the urge of knowing more.

Akechi massaged his temples as he walked through the station after having just gotten out of the train. It was headache one after another for him nowadays, the matter with Shido's jobs combined with the emergence of the so called Phantom Thieves of Hearts, not to mention the return of that pesky thief Kaito KID in Japan after doing heists overseas. His first problem is easy to deal with, as something he had gotten used to doing, his second problem was coming along well enough as he already has a good idea on who the members of the Phantom Thieves are, and the third problem is the biggest headache of all as Kaito KID has been a consistent problem for years now. Disappearing in the past only to have a come back years after and no one has any idea how to deal with him.
There's already even a police force specifically designed to capture that thief and yet there's no progress at all anyway. And for some goddamned reason, Akechi was also tasked to help with that too!
If a police force dedicated to capturing that thief can't even handle it then what else can I do anyway? Detective Prince my ass, if only those people know the truth they wouldn't add on to my mountain of problems something nearly impossible to achieve!
Figuring out the identities of the Phantom Thieves were easy with how sloppy they were at keeping it hidden in the first place but figuring out the identity of a criminal that's most likely been at it for more than a decade isn't something Akechi should be doing in the first place. That should fall on the hands of the adults instead.
Ah but of course! Adults are practically useless, good for nothing fools who's only good at hurting others and getting children to clean up after them, OF COURSE! WHY ELSE AM IN THIS WHOLE MESS ANYWAY IF NOT FOR THAT!
Akechi let out a small quiet sigh, it's best for him to retire for the day and take a rest, although, just as he rounded the corner, he was met with a particularly familiar face that had immediately fallen into a frown the split second she noticed Akechi.
“Ah, Asuka, yes?” Akechi put on his usual polite smile, the face of the exemplary Detective Prince.
“Riight, yeah.” She averted her eyes from him, it was obvious it wasn't out of embarrassment, “Excuse me.”
Akechi could just let her go, but a thought formed on his mind, “Wait, if it's alright with you, could you spare some of your time to have a short chat?”
Asuka attends the same school as Akira. In fact, she attends the same school as most of the members of the Phantom Thieves. There's a possibility of her being involved with them, it's better to check just in case.
There was also... That... Although it doesn't seem to be relevant at the moment, it was still a particular pattern to keep in mind.
Asuka looked back, her eyes squinted slightly, though it was still a frown, Akechi can feel the sharpness of a glare hidden behind a thin veil of public civility. “Unfortunately, no. Goodby—”
“Isn't that…”
Just before Asuka could finish her sentence, a person by the distance caught Akechi's attention. And as his gaze fell on the figure's back, the person turned to meet his eyes.
It was Kaito Kuroba. Someone who's close to Akira.
Asuka followed Akechi's sight with a glance and it was at that moment that Kaito beamed at them before waving his hand as he approached the two.
“Oh hey! You're that so called Detective Prince, aren't you?” He smiled so brightly at them Akechi felt blinded and very much so annoyed.
But he can't quite show such a thing, smile, smile… smile… he needs to smile.
“Ah, yes—”
Kaito then quickly turned to Asuka, her passive aggression towards Akechi was replaced with slight anxiety, “And you… Ah! You're that student Akiki told me before! You sit behind him, yeah?”
She nodded, “R-right…”

Akechi really hates this guy.
He mentally collected himself, it seems that he'd have to talk to Asuka another day. Though this is an ideal situation of killing two birds with one stone, both of them have possible connections to the Phantom Thieves but right now, he'd rather not deal with someone as obnoxious as that guy.
Kaito clapped his hands, “Hey! Since we're all here, how about a meal? My treat! I'd love to get to know more about Asuka and Mister Detective Prince! It's not everyday an opportunity like this can come by!”
Goddammit, WHY?! “You're right, I'll take you up on that offer then.”
“I'll take my leave instead…”
“Now, now, Asuka. Since this kind person is going to treat us, wouldn't it be polite to accept such an offer? He seems to know someone close to you too.”
FINE! Might as well take this chance! DAMMIT!!!
“I'm not really… close to him though.” Asuka tried to take a step away from them.
“Aww! Please, please, please, pretty please? How about I help you with homework too? Please come with us! The more the merrier after all!” Kaito pleaded with the best puppy dog eyes expression he can muster.
“Exactly!” Akechi added, to which Asuka openly glared at him for.
For a second, the two's expression seemed to telepathically communicate with each other, two different thoughts yet both in sync enough to converse with the other.
This bastard is surely planning something…
If I'm getting roped in with this guy, I'm going to drag you into this one too.

And so, the unlikely trio sat by the table of a restaurant nearby. One who was visibly dragged in, another beaming with a light as bright as an artificial sun, and lastly someone who deep down wanted to break the glass of water nearby as they waited for their orders.
Dealing with Asuka should be easy enough but this obnoxious bastard has got to be faking this entire overly cheerful personality of his otherwise his entire existence is just gonna piss me off to no end.
“So, you go to Ekoda High, Kaito? That's quite far from here.” Akechi is luckily used to maintaining this image of his, it should be easy to do despite how badly he want to just get out already.
“Nah! So long as you know your ins and outs, it's actually pretty close by!”
“Is that so—”
“By the way, Asuka! Your scarf suits you so well! It even matches your uniform!” Kaito cut Akechi off again.
Deep breaths… This guy… is clearly doing that on purpose!
“Ah… Thanks…” She took a small glance at Akechi and then at Kaito before looking at her scarf, she seemed to be thinking about something.
It's fine, if his goal is to rile me up then let him try, his attempts won't work on me at all anyway.
“Being a so called Detective Prince at that age sure is impressive, huh Akechi?” Kaito threw the ball back at Akechi's court.
“It's nothing I can't handle—”
“Yeah, it must be so hard getting swarmed with cases left and right that you don't even have time to do all of them anymore.” It was Asuka that cut him off this time.
“Pardon?”
“Oh, I'm just saying. In a general sense.” Asuka slightly squinted at him and seemingly rolled her eyes in a subtle manner as she turned to look away. It was as if a switch was flipped and now, instead of Akechi killing two birds with one stone, it feels as though that two birds are killing him with one stone.

Akechi mentally sighed as he could only freeze his own smile in place to keep it from faltering, he shouldn't have accept this invite.
Flufftober day 3 and 11 prompts: Favourite scent || Ingredients and spells
Characters: Akiren (Persona 5) and Kaito (Magic Kaito)
Kaito took a deep inhale as he took in the tasty smell of curry blanketing his kitchen, "That smells so good already!" he exclaimed while looking over at the pot by the stove. Akira stood in front of it with a proud smile on his face.
Currently the two are at Kaito's home, Kaito is usually the one that'd come visit him at Café Leblanc so this time, Akira wanted to be the one that'd visit. They played games and watched movies, and now, they're preparing dinner. Akira took the lead while Kaito helped with preparing the ingredients, from cutting and measuring all while Akira looked over to see if it's correct.
Kaito told Akira before that he rarely cooks anything that isn't as simple as an omelette, so truth be told, Akira was kind of excited to see Kaito help him with the curry. Seeing his friend so diligent and focused with it was heartwarming, and most certainly a side that Akira rarely sees from Kaito, he's usually too busy being so silly than serious.
Not that Akira minds. He loves that side of Kaito too, in fact, he loves joining him in this antics whenever possible.
"Is it time to put the rest of the ingredients in?" Kaito pointed towards the counter with a bright smile.
Akira nodded, "Yup! Would you do the honours?" He gestured to the pot with a flair, even bowing his head slightly, as if guiding a star to the centre of a stage.
Kaito puffed out his chest, matching Akira's lead, with the same amount of flair and dramatic gestures, "With pleasure!"
The two giggled as they swapped places, Akira handed the ingredients Kaito needed, "let's make this curry extra special!" Kaito grinned at Akira before taking the bowl in his hand while Akira tilted his head.
"I bless thee with a spell of tastiness!" Kaito declared before gently dropping the contents of the bowl in the pot, earning a small chuckle from Akira.
It didn't stop there however, whenever Kaito puts an ingredient in, he would declare a spell, as if tending to a witch's brew. A spell of luck, of health, of tenderness, and of love. Akira couldn't help but join in as well, declaring each spell, at times having become too silly for a curry, in unison with Kaito.
That was how their curry filled with spells was cooked.
"Thank you for the food!" They chorused at the dining table, Akira sat across from Kaito, both have satisfied expressions painted on their faces.
This was really fun.
"MMM!!! THIS IS SO YUMMY!" Akira can see Kaito kicking his feet from under the table what with the small tremors from his knees bumping the bottom of it, "You always make the best curry!"
Akira giggled, "Thanks, I'm glad you love it so much."
"I love it so much that the word "love" itself can't contain the multitudes of how much I love this!" Kaito squealed once more after taking another bite.
Just watching him eat so giddily like that was enough for Akira to feel so happy.
"Hey, Akiki!" Kaito stretched out his arm in front of Akira, and snapped his fingers. "A spell of gratitude for you!"
Akira smiled, thinking nothing of it until Kaito pointed to his ear with a wink, it was only then when Akira became aware of the object thats been sitting atop his right ear. He reached out to take it off, it was a red rose.
Kaito chuckled, "That's all I have in hand but you better be prepared for a bigger surprise soon!"
Akira let out a fond laugh, it was light and airy, much like how he's feeling right now. He really did love Kaito's company, "I'll be waiting patiently then!"
Frankly, the rose was enough. It was more than enough. Akira was never one to have a favourite scent, but ever since that fateful night, he found himself drawn to the smell of roses.
Akira took a small sniff of the rose before gently setting it down beside him to continue eating.
