My dad put me in martial arts when I was 6 years old, almost 20 whole ass years ago. Of course, I didn’t want to go, and when I got old enough to have a say, I stopped training. Instead, I danced, cheered, and even played basketball (I sucked lmaooo). I still competed in tournaments, but was never fully invested in the art. Two years ago, I decided I wanted to get back into it and FINALLY get my black belt. I was stunted by a major joint surgery and couldn’t do much, but I still tried my hardest. Due to complications, I had to stop training until Further notice.
In January, I got the okay from my doctor to go BACK to training, and for the past 3 months, I’ve been working my ass off, and it showed at my black belt testing on Saturday! I find out the results on Tuesday, but regardless, I’d say my dad (a 6th degree black belt), is pretty proud of me, regardless! Thanks for everything dad! #MkuuObey #BlackBeltTest #MartialArts #FamilyThing #DaddysGirl #BlackGirlsTrain #BlackGirlMagic #Locs #NaturalHair 😍🙌🏾🥋
