“The SPOOKS After Christmas”

You’ve heard about the Nightmare Before Christmas, now get ready for the SPOOKS After Christmas. Haha! I am creative genius.

As the holidays slowly draw to a close on my end with the New Year lingering on the horizon, this squiggle meister wanted to post one last piece for the 2017. And what better way to close off this creative year than with the Christmas inspired squigglustration that I promised you all featuring my SPOOKS-y characters alongside the Miraculous K-SQUAD.

 PUMPKIN-Y GHOST FACT:

Last time, you all learned the names of the holiday pumpkin ghosts as Winterbelle and Casper Whites. Did you know that a group of Casper Whites is called a stringband?

A stringband of Casper Whites commonly consists of a total of twelve Caspers (six Naughty and six Nice; one for every day of Christmas). The Caspers are always led by one Winterbelle Pumpkin Ghost.

Just like in this squigglustration, where ever a Winterbelle goes, twelve little Caspers are sure to follow.

The end product of this piece is adorable. Every time I look at the close-up detail shots of this art with the kwamis and my pumpkin witch Noira interacting and even playing with my Holiday Pumpkin Ghosts, it puts a warm smile on my face because I did it. I challenged myself to create another original squiggle art with my characters and I achieved it. I really hope you guys like it and I hope you like my characters too.

Now all that’s left for me to do is finish my annual Art Summary for 2017 as well as something else to bring in the New Year.

“Boku No Kwami Hero II”

Sequel and Companion Piece to ♦ Boku No Kwami Hero

‘...You’ve heard of My Hero Academia, now get ready for My Kwami Hero! Part II coming at you like a Detroit Smash...!’

 One does not simply transform three miraculous kwamis into heroes without doing the rest. Now this quirky circle is complete! In accordance with my last K-SQUAD BNHA-inspired squiggle art, this piece all started with me looking at Nooroo and thinking ‘...How awesome would it be if I drew Nooroo as Todoroki! He’s already got those amazingly giant butterfly/moth wings. Imagine if he had Shoto’s powers and half of his body was ice with one wing being covered in ice shards while the other’s almost completely engulfed in flames to represent his fire elemental side...?’

So naturally if I thought the idea, I immediately had to squiggle it, of course. After drawing Nooroo as Shoto, the other kwamis more or less drew themselves. Obviously Duusuu had to be Fumikage because...y’know birbs and birbs of a feather flock together. Wayzz HAD to be Ieda-kun because not only can I see Wayzz matching Ieda’s personality with being the most responsible of the group, but I also love drawing Wayzz in armour so naturally Ieda and Ingenium’s battle suit would be a perfect fit for our turtle kwami.

Pollen’s choice was a tricky though. It would have probably been better to draw Pollen as possibly Momo or even Mina. But I feel like those two would be the obvious choices for her based on personality. However I chose Kirishima because I honestly favour Kirishima as a character over Momo and Mina. Don’t get me wrong, Mina and Momo are amazing characters. I just really like Kirishima more. Plus I looked at it this way. In my other piece, Trixx is Bakugo, right? In the series, Kirishima is the closest thing to a best friend to Bakugo than any other hero in the series (that I know of). So since Trixx is Bakugo, then Pollen had to be Kirishima because on the kwami zodiac, Pollen and Trixx are right next to each other. A side of me was really curious to see how Pollen would look as Red Riot. Quite frankly she doesn’t look too bad. She actually looks like quite the little badass especially with her little neck floof which I imagine would spike up and become as sharp as needles if she had Kirishima’s ability to harden her body into an unbreakable shield.

Really digging Nooroo channelling his inner Todoroki. Gaaah I really love how his fire and ice wings turned out. I’m mostly proud of the two kwamis representing my two favourite male characters from the series. I know most fans are Team Deku or Bakugo or even Kirishima. While I do really like those characters too (BNHA has a lot of likeable characters), if I had to choose favourites : Todoroki and Fumikage/Dark Shadow as my favs of the boys

Hope everyone enjoys this week’s newest piece. As an additional side note, Happy Independence Day to my home island of Trinidad and Tobago. Today, sweet, sweet Trinbago celebrates another year as an independent nation. 55 years to be exact!

Normally every year I’d try to draw something for independence. This year I dedicate this piece to show my patriotism! Celebrating 55 years with kwami heroes!

“In the Company of FOOLS!”

Companion piece to ♦ ‘Day of Fools’

He’s baaaaaaaaaack! Remember that K-Squad crossover squiggle art I did for April Fools where I guest starred Excalibur from Soul Eater. Whelp, since some of you guys seemed to like this idea, guess who decided to bring him back for a sequel piece.

Guess who’s back to mess with the kwamis again? That monocle wearing legendary little shit, that’s who!

Man I love Excalibur. To be honest, I never quite finished watching out Soul Eater (Soul Eater meisters, don’t hurt me). I think I made it to like episode 19 or so but that was like four years ago. Never finished it BUT I do remember Excalibur. Like who could forget him, am I right? Let’s be honest, even you’ve never watched a Soul Eater episode in your life, you’ve probably heard of Excalibur. He was one of the best funniest running gags of the show for me. I really lover Excalibur as a character and as you all know, I also really love the kwamis from Miraculous.

Do I think these guys would mesh well if they met for realsies with Excalibur being kwamified? PfffffffT! HA! Nope. The only kwami I believe might actually get along well with Excalibur would be Trixx surprisingly. Mainly cause, like her holder Alya, I think Trixx would totally fangirl if she got to meet someone cool and famous and who is more famous than the legendary Excalibur.

Makes me feel bad for poor Nooroo being all jelly and purple with envy cause his foxy lady is giving another dude attention. Don’t worry Nooroo, Trixx still loves you, you adorable purple nurple you. She’s just more dazzled by Excalibur because...c’mon. Who is more fabulous than Excalibur?

Don’t ask me how Excalibur even got the kwamis to be his foolish pawns for the day (probably through sheer bribery meaning that they had no choice but to submit to his will and entertain him as a means of not having to deal with his annoying butt all day). Just roll with it. The scenario doesn’t make a lot of sense. But boy does it make for some good ole humour or at least a chuckle or two.

Like the character himself, I think I’ll make Kwami Excalibur a running gag in my K-SQUAD sessions. You never know when he might pop up again...just know that like Arnold Schwarzenegger in the Terminator, he’ll be back to reign his annoyingly legendary head.

Speaking of K-SQUAD sessions, this is piece number 25. Only one piece left before I conclude this first session of my Miraculous K-SQUAD art. ‘Mermay With the Maidens’

Companion piece to ♦ ‘Fondue With the Fellas’

‘We’ve all heard the legend of the mermaid. But I bet you’ve never seen anything more miraculous than a kwami-maid. At least...until now!’

It’s May 31st. Last one out of the Mermaid Month of May. Concluding K-SQUAD Session One with the kwami girls as mermaids.  For my 26th squigglustrations, I thought it would be fun to draw the kwami gals as mermaids. I’ve seen some folks draw Miraculous characters (like our girl Marinette) as mermaids so I figured why not join in on the #mermay fun with the K-SQUAD. With this piece, I conclude my first ever Session of Miraculous K-SQUAD. I have now officially drawn a full twenty-six pieces (as much as one full season of Miraculous Tales of Ladybug and Chat Noir) for the Miraculous kwamis. Next thing to do is the compilation post of the full season which will be submitted some time tomorrow from my ♦ main blog. But for the most part, I hope everyone who has been following me and my ML K-SQUAD art have enjoyed it. It has honestly been a blast squiggling all my crazy ideas for these adorable little guys and illustrating them all in my style as they were revealed by Hawkdaddy and crew. I hope to do more full sessions of the K-SQUAD for the future as I continue to follow the Miraculous series and be part of its amazing and talented fandom. “A Hairy Predicament”

Read panels in this order: (Feryon ---->Plagg---->Trixx---->Tikki---->Nooroo---->Wayzz)

 I must’ve changed the title of this squiggle at least four times. Finally decided that the best title for anything should always be a pun.

It’s the K-SQUAD ft. Feryon in the hizz house ya’ll! For those of you who aren’t familiar with her, Feryon is what I presume the main heroine of another one of Zagtoon’s up and coming animated series entitled ‘Tales of Feryon’.  

It is created and designed by Nathanaël Bronn, the art director of Miraculous Tales of Ladybug and Chat Noir. Judging by her hair, I’m going to assume that Feryon’s character and powers will be inspired by the classical fairytale character, Rapunzel.

Not much more is known about her or her show other than that. There isn’t even much character art or fanart of her either that I could’ve used as reference. So if I got some of the details in her costume wrong, cut me some slack. Unlike Pixie Girl, I didn’t have much to work with for Feryon so I did my best. But like many other Zag titles, this squiggle meister is definitely looking forward to this series when it comes out. Who wouldn’t love a series about classical fairytale characters turned into superheroes? Aah giving me dem Rise of the Guardians type of feels all over again. Thank you to my lovely star kids over on Twitter for helping me decide the special guest character for this Miraculous K-Squad art. I like doing crossovers with the kwamis and other characters so this time around I decided to feature them alongside a character from another one of Zag’s titles (not the obvious Pixiegirl since I drew her already). I asked folks to choose between Feryon and Zak Storm and ya’ll picked Feryon. Will probably squiggle paint Zak another time one of these days and check out his series. It looked interesting.

With this piece marking my 23rd K-SQUAD art, I’m only three squiggles away from completing my first session of Miraculous Kwamis. Looking forward to wrapping things up this month. Until then, I hope everyone enjoys this week’s newest squiggle. Hope you get a nice laugh out of it.

“Day for Fools!”

It ain’t April FOOLS without HIM showing up at least one! A crossover that needed to be done...and just in time for today! I was going to turn this into an animated comic panel butttttttt....then I decided it’d be more fun to just let you miraculous folk make up your own crazy stories based on this squigglustration.

In honor of this April Fools, instead of pranking, let’s play a game! Miraculers, CAPTION THIS squiggle art!

We’ve been blessed with an unexpected cameo from everyone’s favourite sassy holy sword: Excalibur from hit anime series: Soul Eater who has strangely, now been kwami-fied, However, it doesn’t seem like the K-SQUAD are too pleased with greeting this now pit-sized stranger. Hmmm I wonder why.

Let me hear what you think is happening here. It’ll be funny to hear you interpretations. In the meantime, I hope everyone enjoys this new K-SQUAD squiggle art. It’s been a while since I’ve drawn the kwamis. Now I’m another squigglustration closer to completing the first session in my Miraculous K-SQUAD series. "Nativity"

Finally sharing the squigglustration I did for the A Little Light fanzine (@a-little-light-zine) from last year. 

My piece was inspired by the Christmas Nativity Scene set that you traditionally see around Christmas time and depicted all seven kwamis portraying popular characters from the Christmas Nativity Scene.

The roles of Father Joseph and Mother Mary were played by the kwami pair of Plagg and Tikki (of course). The bee kwami was the glorious Angel Noel. Trixx, the fox kwami was our shepherd. Lastly the roles of Three Wise Men were played by the remaining kwamis: Wayzz, Duusuu and Nooroo. 

Sorry for the lack of new kwami content these days guys. As much as I adore the ML kwamis, after pretty much a full year of drawing mostly them (seriously 95% of my art from 2016 were of the kwamis. No lie XD), this squiggle meister kinda needed a short breather. Plus I’ve been enjoying painting the other human Miraculous characters in my Miraculous Squiggles so, if you haven’t seen those, please check em out.  I’ve still got my first session of K-SQUAD art to complete before the new season of Miraculous Ladybug begins. I'll presume working on kwami stuff next month so until then, no new K-SQUAD content until February.

A Little Light is a Miraculous Ladybug charity zine created to help benefit victims affected by Hurricane Matthew which devastated Haiti this year. The theme of this zine is to be a light in the darkness for those who need it most; and it features the works (art, fanfiction, cosplay, etc) of some of the most talented, most awesome-tastic and all round creative minds that you all know and love from the Miraculous fandom.
