Hello... canucks 2025 draft picks... Matthew Lansing and Gabe Chiarot..... thinking about you...
-
Matthew fell backwards onto the hotel bed with a soft thud, his hair splaying around his head. Vancouver was already pretty overwhelming and meeting everyone was fun, if not a bit tiring. With a loud sigh, he rolled over onto his stomach and looked over at Gabe who was frowning at his phone. Well, maybe not intentionally frowning, but he didn't seem as excited as Matthew felt,
"What's so important on your phone?" Gabe blinks up at him before turning off his phone and tossing it onto the rest of the bed,
"Trying to respond to the millions of messages I'm getting." His phone chime is muffled by the covers as Matthew nods and spreads out more over his bed,
"Mister popular over here," He can see Gabe roll his eyes, "We're supposed to be dreading that grouse grind shit, not texting."
"It's just my family. I'm usually with them during the offseason so it's a little weird."
"Well good thing you have good ol' roomie Matty here for ya'," A wide grin spreads across Matthew's face as he props himself up on his elbows, "Class of 2025 has to stick together. I already hooked Wilson in with some soccer, I'm sure we could both take his weirdly lanky ass down. Don't tell anyone but since we're roommates I'll always stick by you first."
That at least gets Gabe to crack a smile and laugh into his hand. It's still a little tight-lipped, but making people smile was always something Matthew loved to do, "Sounds like a plan."
The sun is beaming through the hotel curtains, though Matthew is sure he beams even brighter.
