#MLKSitInELP
Join the citizens of El Paso as we join the nationwide Martin Luther King Jr. Sit-In! Come out and enjoy this family-friendly peace rally at North Hills Crossing on Martin Luther King Jr Blvd on Sunday, July 31st beginning at 1PM (at the entrance nearest Wal-Mart). At 2PM we will join people gathered at rallies across the nation in reciting the ending of Martin Luther King Jr.’s “I Have A Dream Speech” and celebrating the legacy of MLK. We’ll be using #MLKSitInELP to share photos, videos, and info on Facebook, Twitter, and Periscope! This event is part of the National #MLKSitIn Day of Action: A national gathering of everyday people in an occupational protest on every single street and monument named for Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. in America on Sunday July 31st. More info about this event available atwww.MKLSitIn.com. #MLKSitInELP is the chance to: • Draw international attention to the systematic execution of Black Americans and the terrorism inflicted upon us by racist institutions • Celebrate the JOY, LOVE, and HOPE of our future in defiant acts of community and peace • Call everyone around the country to commit themselves in the fight to eradicate racism, sexism, queer/transphobia, xenophobia poverty, injustice, and all violations of civil and human rights and liberties. • Take part in a national act of peaceful resistance, an act of defiant JOY, a sit in on the every street and monument named after the man who gave his life to move us closer to freedom and liberation. We ask that everyone wear WHITE (for peace, for clarity, for the ancestors, for hope). We ask that you bring your children; this is a FAMILY event. We ask that you bring water, snacks, fruit, and small items to share among each other and with those less fortunate than we are. We ask that you come in peace, with reverence for the movements towards justice, and with and open heart and joy in your soul. If you have physical limitations, please send us a message/post a comment and we will work on that as best we can. Spread the word far and wide. This is about LOVE and JOY as defiance and resistance in a world with too much HATE and MISERY. Contact [email protected] for media requests
