| In search of a subject for a nature documentary, I signed up for a plant study tour at the forest park. Bai Qi, who was supposed to accompany me, was absent due to a last-minute mission from the Special Task Force, so I embarked on the journey alone.
However, on the fourth day of the course, Bai Qi unexpectedly returned…
“I recognize this. The professor just introduced it a few days ago; it’s called… it’s called…”
The name was right on the tip of my tongue, but I just couldn’t remember it.
Bai Qi couldn’t help but laugh, taking over the conversation with perfect ease.
“It’s called an epiphytic orchid.”
“Its roots grip the bark to stabilize itself, and it lives on moisture from the air.”
“Yes, yes, that’s an epiphytic orchid! Have you seen it before?”
“It was described in the photos you sent the day before yesterday. I remembered it after seeing it.”
“Oh, I see. Hehe, how did it become you answering my questions?”
“Otherwise, how could I be the senior?”
He said it so naturally, his eyebrows and eyes lifting lively, the weariness from before vanishing without a trace.
I couldn’t help but find him adorable and wanted to tease him.
“So, senior, are you not sleepy now?”
In my bright smile, a barely perceptible hint of embarrassment flashed across his eyes.
But after glancing at the receding line ahead, he narrowed his eyes slightly and quickly stole a kiss on my lips.

“Of all the countless wonders in existence, none can compare to a single glance from you.”
“Though we met in haste, my heart lingers still; this love can never again be laid to rest.”
🌟 Sweet Rain Date Blurb:
Ever since you were ordered to marry into the Zhou family, you've faithfully observed every rule and upheld the sacred traditions of your divine duties.
But this "immortal's way of life" of purity and restraint is hardly something an ordinary mortal can endure!
One night, unable to resist your appetite any longer, you quietly slip into the kitchen in search of a midnight snack... Only to catch someone familiar expertly rummaging through the cupboards and happily feasting away.
It's none other than your husband—the divine emissary who is supposedly utterly detached from worldly pleasures...!
[Gavin's birthday coincides with the award ceremony for two members of the Special Operations Team. I have long since prepared a series of birthday celebrations for him, hoping to convey the blessings of the entire world to him.]
[Part 1]
“O-o-one,
Everyone: “Congratulations, Sister Hang and Xiao Qiu...
As a series of small party poppers exploded in Gavin's office, fluttering streamers filled the air, mirroring the cheers of the crowd.
Some members of the special operations team kept setting off small celebratory cannons; off to the side of the crowd, Bai Qi smiled happily, looking completely at ease and letting them do as they pleased.
Finally, unable to withstand the shyness of being hemmed in by the crowd—and with her face blushing a deep, rare crimson—Sister Hang steeled herself, grabbed Bai Qi by the sleeve, and hauled him into the throng.
Hang jie: Thank you, everyone—thank you all—but we don't want to steal the spotlight from the birthday celebrant. The White Team is right here; you should celebrate with someone else.
Gavin: You shouldn't put it that way; today is the day you receive your award, too. It is also an honor, and well worth celebrating.
His tone was filled with an indescribable sense of pride, yet it was also clearly tinged with a playful, teasing quality.
The day of Gavin's birthday also marked the commendation ceremony for two members of the Special Operations Team.
They performed outstandingly in a major case and received the rewards they deserved, thanks to Gavin's efforts on their behalf.
Not wanting the celebration to be too ostentatious, Gavin gathered everyone in his office after the commendation ceremony.
He raised his eyebrows with a smile and gently pressed his hands onto the shoulders of the two, who were so flustered they wanted to flee, keeping them from moving even an inch.
Xiao Qiu: …………Captain Bai………………Last year, when they were teasing you about love, I didn't join in…………………They’re all Hang jie…………………who spoke on stage…………………
Gavin: What do you mean? Are you trying to say that I’m engaging in "retaliation" specifically targeting the operation against your KTV last year?
Hang jie: Team White! You really are petty!
Gavin: ...and even "verbally abused" the birthday celebrant.
He wore an expression of feigned innocence—though he seemed to be fighting back a smile—while his teammates beside him egged him on with even greater enthusiasm.
I couldn't help but laugh out loud, watching Gavin stand like a big boy among the people he liked, surrounded by those he loved.
Confetti cannons fired once again in celebration, filled with an indescribable sense of joy.
In the end, everyone tacitly crowded Gavin into the center, while shimmering sequins fluttered ceaselessly, like endless blessings.
Before long, a small medal case was handed to Gavin.
Xiao Qiu: Although Sister Hang and I were the ones who won the award for the mission's success, without Captain Gavin's command, we would have suffered heavy casualties—it certainly wouldn't have gone so smoothly...
Xiao Qiu: …………………Captain Bai, you have always striven to bring honor to the Special Operations Team, and we want to do something for you, too.
As she spoke, Sister Hang opened the medal case; a small, handmade badge gleamed faintly, embodying the loyalty and gratitude of countless people.
Hang jie: Thank you for all your hard work, Team White. Happy birthday!
Hang jie: Even though you have a terrible temper, we are all so glad that it’s you standing here.
Everyone: Dear Team White—
Everyone & Me: Happy Birthday!
At this moment, it was Gavin's turn to feel somewhat embarrassed.
He seemed not to have anticipated this scene; he stood frozen in place for a moment, then smiled the very next instant.
Gavin: I am also deeply grateful that you have come this far with me.
Gavin: And I will continue to move forward with all of you.
It was less an expression of gratitude and more like an unwavering vow.
Amidst the cheers of the crowd, I saw Gavin break into a smile, his gaze meeting mine once more across the sea of people.
He seemed enveloped in an aura of pure happiness, yet in his eyes...
Yet, I seemed to glimpse a hidden hue of silence.
Gavin: What are the plans for next?
Outside the special task force headquarters, Bai Qi, having changed into civilian clothes, grabbed me and ran out.
MC: What do you want to do?
Gavin: Me? So, this is the path things are taking this year.
The corners of his mouth curled up, and the cowlick atop his head swayed lightly in the breeze.
Gavin: I want to know about your surprise sooner.
Gavin:I just want to be with you, and I want to eat the birthday noodles you cooked yourself.
Gavin: I still want to hear you wish me happiness, kiss me, and see nothing but me in your eyes.
He poured out his words in a single breath—sounding greedy yet artless—and my heart melted completely.
But I still looked straight at him and gripped his hand tightly.
MC: Sure, I'll help you make them all come true. But is that really all there is to it?
The breeze gently stirred the locks of hair across his forehead, and the sunlight bathed him in a look of pure favoritism, reflecting a luminous amber glow in his eyes.
There is a certain silence congealed within it, yet it seems to be churning ceaselessly.
Gavin: Has this been discovered too?
MC: Because I have been watching you all along.
[Part 2]
He stopped laughing and stared at me intently, as if looking at himself through my eyes.
After a long silence, Bai Qi finally spoke, his tone full of sincerity.
Gavin: Okay, actually I'd also like to take a ride in the air with you.
The world continuously unfolds its vastness along the distant skyline, while the clouds seem like yet another illusory reflection of the city.
The towering skyscrapers transformed into tiny, densely packed black dots; the city, as if encased in a miniature model, appeared both distant and silent.
In the vast expanse of heaven and earth, everything recedes into the infinite distance, leaving behind only the hollow, desolate sound of the wind.
Gavin held my hand as we walked across the sky, his gaze involuntarily drifting to the strings of balloons behind me.
Vibrant colors shimmer between the white and the blue, like a dazzling kiss from the sky.
Gavin: This seems a bit different from the office decorations we just saw.
MC: Hehe, your powers of observation are a bit too sharp.
I smiled, holding his hand and shaking the bunch of balloons wrapped around it.
MC: I’ve long imagined "walking among the clouds" with you like this. Holding a string of balloons in the sky, doesn't it feel incredibly romantic and dreamy?
Clouds drifted by, appearing and disappearing, as if veiling the world from view.
We strolled hand in hand through the area.
The world was empty and desolate, as if Gavin and I were the only two beings.
But perhaps, we have already entered another private realm that belongs only to the two of us.
Gavin quietly observed everything before him. The wind lifted him up, allowing him to hold me and let out a long sigh of relief.
MC: What are you thinking about?
Hidden clouds filled his eyes, creating a silent and pure blank space.
He looked up and thought seriously for a long time, as if trying to find a precise definition of his feelings at that moment.
After a long while, I heard a soft voice.
Gavin: There's a feeling that's both real and unreal.
It was rare for Bai Qi to speak so vaguely, which made me blink and gaze at him intently.
MC: Have you ever felt this way before?
Gavin: Yes, but not many.
As he spoke, he guided the wind to lift our legs, pulling me to lie even more lazily among the clouds.
Gavin: Then I'll lie here like this, although... I don't even know what I'm thinking.
Light occasionally pierced through the clouds, scattering across his face and making his features appear both bright and dark.
Gavin noticed my gaze and turned his head away.
His breath was almost like another breeze brushing against me, and the amber-like color of his breath reflected in my eyes, as if it held too many unspeakable words.
I couldn't help but stroke his cheek, then leaned down and kissed his brow and eyes.
MC: It shouldn't just be lying down, right?
The sunlight falling into his eyes felt like another form of exposure.
I quietly met his gaze, slightly dazed, subconsciously pondering what his answer meant.
The solid heartbeats resounded through the embrace, sometimes sounding like a vague, empty cry.
But when his winds cease, the winds that were once stirred up also originated from him—
As he had done countless times before, he pulled himself along, gritting his teeth as he moved forward.
Looking at the person in front of me, my eyes couldn't help but well up with tears.
MC:Will this include now as well?
How could I not believe it?
"He looked into her eyes and felt his heart pounding wildly.
He knew that on such a day, he shouldn't say such inappropriate things, but he still wanted to tell her.
If the fall was merely a silent yet intense sensation for him, then from some point onward, as she gradually began to see him, he seemed to experience a more real heartbeat.
The person in front of him was so beautiful; all he wanted was to hold her hand and keep going upwards, to a more vast and beautiful place.
But she made him stop blowing.
Does she not know what will happen next? Or is she willing to accept whatever comes next?
He knew she was willing; she had proven it to him. But at this moment, he still felt a strange, inexplicable hesitation.
But her gaze was too patient and too gentle, like another breeze supporting him.
An indescribable sense of encouragement and impulse filled his heart, making him feel as if he were floating on air.
Perhaps, he is already in the wind that belongs to her.
Thinking of this, he couldn't help but laugh. He felt that his heart no longer belonged to him, so he couldn't help but kiss her.
Gavin: I believe in you. I'm willing too.
So he took her hand—
The wind stopped its clamor, and light shone through the clouds onto her back, making her look as if she were glowing.
The expected fall did not occur; instead, he saw her nervously yet proudly clutching the bunch of balloons—
Seeing Gavin's stunned gaze, I couldn't help but smile even more proudly.
I pulled him back.
Although my right hand trembled with tension, and my fingertips were somewhat stiff when I released them.
But the balloons in my hands, just like in countless training sessions, scattered and surrounded us, lifting Gavin and me up.
Under his wide eyes, I hurriedly followed the plan, revealing the hidden celebratory balloons and scattering them into the air.
Although everyone had neatly strung the connecting ropes, several balloons were still blown apart by the high winds.
Colorful, vibrant, free, and even somewhat chaotic.
Between the vast sky and the city, it is incredibly small yet vibrant, just like the birth of life.
Those dazzling colors seemed to have been reflected in Gavin's eyes as well, making him look at me and smile foolishly.
MC: Although things didn't go quite as planned, I still want to send you my second blessing from the sky.
I smiled, took his hand, and leaned against him.
MC: Although I don't have the power to fly, I can find a way to get other capable people to help me form wings.
MC: You used to be the one who carried me, but I want to tell you that I can also be your strength.
The clear sky is filled with vibrant blessings, the world's freedom stretches endlessly, and I greedily wish he possessed it all.
MC: So don't worry about the wind stopping, because I will hold you back. I will hold you back along with many other people and the world. I will always be with you.
At that moment, it seemed as if countless unspoken words were churning violently deep within those beautiful eyes. Bai Qi's lips opened and closed, eventually turning into an endless kiss.
Then he lay down gently, as if he were more free to lean into the blue sky.
The balloons, supported by love and blessings, floated around us, like his other pair of wings.
Gavin: So that's how it works.
MC: Anything is fine.
So, out of curiosity and boldness, he led me across what seemed to be another world stretching between heaven and earth.
We seem to be lying in the embrace of the world, or perhaps walking in a new world opened up by countless loves.
Gavin:Will you bring me down with you?
MC: Of course.
I kissed his cheek, followed the training route, and held his hand as we ran towards the depths of the sky.
[Part 3]
Buoyancy balloons surrounded us, bracing against the wind, allowing me to smoothly bring Gavin down slowly onto the hillside.
Giant lilac trees bloom above the beautiful flower field, their petals fluttering in the breeze, mingling with the soft pink hues that paint the sky.
Gavin looked down at the ground beneath his feet. The wind ruffled his hair, drawing his gaze around before finally settling on me.
Gavin: You are very skilled; you must have practiced many times.
I raised the corners of my mouth and shook my head with satisfaction.
MC: I want to give you something you'll like, and I want to be a little closer to your world.
MC: It seems that the more I understand you, the more you like the gifts I give you.
MC: So before training, I'd like to know more about you... or rather, what it feels like to stand high in the air.
Gavin: What does it feel like?
MC: Freedom, but also fear.
I turned my head and looked at him with sincerity and heartache.
In this vast world, I can go anywhere.
But all the places were high and far away, as if no place truly belonged to me.
But if I lose the power I rely on, I will fall and be shattered into pieces in another way.
Yet, I can also clearly hear my heartbeat, the wind, and the sound of the universe.
Hearing that I am alive.
MC: At that moment, I suddenly understood why you couldn't stop the wind.
MC: Because you carry not only yourself on your back, but also many, many people and many, many things.
MC: You always live a very hard and difficult life; you are always doing something that leaves no room for error.
The world rustled, petals fluttered, making the person before me appear so hazy and beautiful.
Gavin: ……………………I was very happy when the mission was successful.
It seemed that too many emotions were choking him, making his voice sound somewhat hoarse at this moment.
Gavin: I'm happy that everyone received medals.
Gavin: Everyone is alive, and so am I. Everyone is celebrating my birthday, and you're by my side… It's all so joyful.
MC: But it's not just about being happy, right?
Gavin: Every mission...many times, looking at so many faces, I can't help but think...
Gavin: "This time, there was no failure eigher."
It's not about "success," but about "no failure."
Happiness is heavy, and sometimes it is even full of uncertainty, making people struggle like fools about whether to honestly accept this happiness.
The clumsy child always seemed unsure how to face happiness with peace of mind, so he was at a loss yet calm, and could only digest all his doubts alone.
He has carried the weight of so many people on his shoulders, and has walked alone under pressure for too long. Even peace of mind seems to have an expiration date.
Gavin: To be honest, I didn't dare to admit it before, always feeling that it was actually very cowardly.
Gavin: Perhaps, when I stopped being in the wind, I was just trying not to face this version of myself.
Gavin: I don't want to admit my cowardice and fear.
Gavin: He didn't want to admit that after the mission ended, besides being happy, he felt mostly relieved.
My life is no longer just my life, and sometimes I don't even know whether to celebrate it or feel fortunate.
He gave a particularly candid wry smile, but still raised his head with a flourish and looked straight at me.
My heart aches; I can't tell whether I feel more heartache or pride.
The sky and falling blossoms blended into a gentle hue, and as the wind swept across the land once more, I heard Gavin's voice become even more resolute.
Gavin: But even so, I have successfully made it here today, completed what I was supposed to do, and protected the people I love.
Gavin: And I...and that's why I became the person I wanted to be. So I don't regret it.
But he paused for a moment.
Gavin: Will this put you in a difficult position?
MC: How could that be? I'm so glad that you were born into this world and came into my life.
I cupped his face in my hands, completely willing.
MC: I know you always feel that all of this is a given.
MC: I just want to tell you that all of this was really difficult and remarkable.
MC: It is because of you that my world is so bright and beautiful.
MC: Don't worry.
MC: Because sometimes, I'll take you along the way.
[Part 4]
The tranquil lake rested gently at the foot of the hillside. When I jumped onto the prepared raft and turned to look at Gavin, he smiled again amidst his momentary stunned silence.
The boat wasn't very big, and even with my carefully designed decorations, it still felt a bit cramped.
So when Gavin jumped up to meet my palm, it even swayed slightly.
The shimmering light spots fell on his face, so vivid and lifelike that I couldn't help but squint.
Gavin: You look like you're laughing at me.
MC: No, I just think you're cute.
I smiled and pulled his hand over, making him squeeze in next to me.
MC: Let's go then~
As I spoke, I lifted the wooden oar and slowly rowed the raft to the center of the lake.
In the distance, soft pink and blue hues blended together, staining the night sky and floating clouds like a beautiful oil painting.
The soft light on Gavin's face made his usually cold and stern features appear incredibly gentle.
The moon shines brightly, the full moon hangs among the stars, like another blessing of perfection.
We leaned against each other quietly, stretching the world outwards and outwards.
Everything was peaceful, with only the occasional gentle breeze. Between the lake and the full moon, it seemed as if only our small boat remained, like the only point of contact in the entire universe.
Gavin: I long to... stay with you like this forever.
MC: You can always be like this.
I smiled and placed a small cake on the table, then hung a birthday hat on his head.
The gentle candlelight fell into those amber eyes, as if illuminating everything contained within them.
MC: Happy birthday, my absolute favorite Gavin!
MC: Although I know you are always very brave and strong
MC: But sometimes I wonder, when the wind stops, are you actually not standing on the ground?
MC: Sometimes it might be the surface of water, and sometimes it might be a swamp or other muddy pool.
MC: Do you often find yourself swaying and unsure of how deep the ground is beneath your feet?
The pupils reflected in his eyes contracted almost imperceptibly, but Gavin didn't look away, simply gazing at me silently, as if seeking some kind of answer.
Gavin:……If so, what should I do?
MC: Came back to my side.
MC: No matter what happened, try your best to come back to me.
In his slightly widened gaze, I looked back at him with unwavering determination.
MC: I will try my best to create a safe haven for you in this world.
MC: Before... I always wanted you to be "Gavin", but I forgot that you are more than just "Gavin".
MC: You are still Captain White, Commander White, the ideal and hope of countless people.
I gently cupped his hands in mine and pressed my forehead against his.
MC: Although I can't truly solve your stress, I also want you to feel safe even when there's no wind.
His eyes were very close to mine, completely enveloping me, as if this was the original form of the world.
Gavin: You shouldn't have said that.
MC: Why?
Gavin: Because...that way I can no longer work hard alone.
Gavin: I can't live without you anymore.
MC: This is exactly what I wanted.
MC: So don't "waste" your wishes on things like this, because I'll always be by your side.
MC: Please learn to take care of yourself, okay?
Gavin didn't speak, but smiled softly. Then, he obediently closed his eyes.
At this moment, the moonlight was bright and the wind was still, as if the whole universe was listening to his heart.
Bathed in the gentle candlelight, I couldn't help but close my eyes and pray for my boy in my heart.
May the world love him as much as he loved me, and may I always be filled with luck and courage to accompany him year after year.
I made many wishes, more than ever before.
Gavin: After a long while, Gavin gently opened his eyes.
MC: That's so wonderful! After all, so many wishes will come true soon.
Gavin: Will all of these come true?
MC: It will definitely happen.
As he blew out the candle, it seemed like the beginning of another journey.
But I believe it is also the beginning of another great happiness.
MC: Alright~ Now it's time to give gifts.
As I spoke, I brought out the guitar that I had been hiding in the corner and handed it to him with a delighted expression.
MC: You said in the summer that there wasn't a good piano, so I asked a lot of friends and finally found this one.
MC: Remember to play more songs for me in the future.
He thought Gavin would be surprised, but Gavin just narrowed his eyes slightly, as if he was cautiously touching upon some kind of understanding.
MC: ………Hmm? Why aren't you surprised at all?
He smiled, his fingers gently plucking the strings, producing a few melodious notes in the moonlight.
Gavin: Do you know? Actually, when I first met you,I never thought you would belong to me one day.
Gavin: I never imagined you would prepare all this for me, say those things to me, and stay by my side like this...
Gavin: He would say "Happy Birthday" to me.
He didn't reply, but what he said made me pause.
Gavin: But I'm different now.
Gavin: Just like this guitar. I feel... countless beautiful things, and things that bring happiness, will slowly come my way.
Gavin: You will bring them to me. Because you want me to be happy.
The interplay of light and shadow filled him, making Gavin appear so serene and happy at that moment.
MC:Yes, I want you to be happy forever.
As I spoke, I took out the last gift.
The silver sign necklace shimmered in the light, its reflection falling into his amber eyes, making him hold his breath.
MC: Hehe, you're probably familiar with this, but it's specially made for me.
I held the two silver medals in my palm and looked at him with a smile.
MC: This is the main card, it has your name on it, and this side card has my name on it.
MC: Although this is a gift for you, after you accept it, a part of you will belong to me.
I felt my voice tremble slightly, which was unusual for me, but I still gazed at him intently.
MC: Would you like to accept this gift?
The world seemed to stand still at this moment, casting its witness and gaze upon us.
Gavin stared at me intently, his mouth opening and closing, but he couldn't utter a single word.
Finally, it turned into a frowning smile, and he lowered his head slightly.
Gavin: I hope...you can help me put it on.
My heart was pounding, and I gently lifted the necklace and hung it around his neck.
Gavin gripped the silver medal tightly to his chest, as if it were another heart that accompanied his vow.
MC: Gavin, you will definitely become everything you love.
All the endless words turned into a devout kiss, and into an even tighter embrace.
Gavin: That must be because... I have your love.

[Call phone]
MC: No rush, no rush, Officer Bai, please speak.
Gavin: It's me. Are you busy right now? I need to ask you something.
Gavin: Gu Zheng and Tang Chao insisted on giving me something, and in the end, they simply invited me to have dinner together that night.
MC: Okay, go eat and have fun!
Gavin: Don't rush me, I haven't finished speaking yet.
Gavin : Lao Gao and the others called in the afternoon as well.
Gavin: But they were too late; they could only invite me to dinner tomorrow night…
MC: Haha, why did you suddenly laugh while you were talking?
Gavin: Because it wasn't just them, other friends also called one after another.
Gavin: After calculating, it turns out that from tonight until the weekend, all the time has been perfectly arranged by these people.
MC: Haha, did all these gifts from your friends mean they were just invitations to dinner?
Gavin: No, that's not it. I received a few bottles of wine, two game discs, some hand wraps, a massage gun, etc., these past few days.
MC: That's quite a lot! Looks like I'll have to keep innovating next year; I can't lose to them.
Gavin: No, no, blessings and gifts can't be compared, we're all doing just as well~
MC: I'll give you the best and my favorites~
Gavin: What if I want everything?
Gavin: Okay, you said so. Let's get ready to go downstairs.
Gavin: From tonight until the weekend, we will eat together at every meal.
MC: This...this isn't quite right! They're treating you to dinner, and of course, it's most fun and relaxed when the guys are having fun together.
Gavin: No matter what, I'm the birthday person. I'm in charge. My greed needs your protection.

[CHAPTER 1]
The luxurious walls lining both sides of the corridor are sharply contoured, their surfaces gleaming under the lights with a cold, expensive sheen.
This is the most lavish hotel in M City—and also the final stop of my business trip.
Waiter: Ms. MC, this way, please—
The attendant leading the way comes to a stop and pushes open the ornately carved double doors before us.
Inside the salon, well-dressed men and women sit at gaming tables, casually playing card games. The crisp clatter of chips colliding drifts through the air from time to time.
I freeze for a second, then turn back to the waiter.
MC: Is this the wrong room? I’m here for the press reception, you—
Before I can finish, the attendant has already bowed and slipped out. As I’m left standing there in confusion, a familiar voice cuts through the room.
??: Another guest?
My heart skips a beat, and I Instinctively turn my head.
In the salon, where shadows slice the light into sharp contrasts, a pair of icy blue eyes meets mine.
MC: Kiro?
Why is he here? Didn’t he say he'd be away handling matters related to Black Swan?
I glance around again and realize that there are indeed several familiar faces from Black Swan seated nearby.
Director Liu: You're here, Producer MC?
The young man sitting across from Kiro smiles and waves at me.
It’s Director Liu—the one who sent me the invitation to the Stellar News cocktail reception.
To be honest, seeing Director Liu and Kiro at the same event isn’t strange.
But what if I look at it from another angle? What if it’s the Boss of BS and…
A thin sheen of sweat gathers in my palm, but I lift a perfectly practiced business smile to my lips.
MC: Director Liu, why wasn’t I informed of the change in venue?
Director Liu: Don’t worry, Miss Producer. There’s still plenty of time before the reception starts. Enough to play a couple rounds first—right, Boss?
Boss.
The moment that word is spoken, everything becomes clear.
Kiro stretches his long legs out, the tip of his shoe tapping lightly against the floor. A faint smile curves his lips, devoid of all warmth.
Kiro: Indeed. Cards are more interesting when there are more people playing the game. What do you say, Queen?
As he speaks, he pushes the chips in his hand towards me.
MC: ……
I hold his gaze steadily. Amid the shifting light and shadow, he quickly winks at me.
A fleeting trace of reassurance flickers in those sapphire eyes, and I instantly feel at ease. I deliberately pout at him.
MC: You think I'll just join in because you ask me to? You guys aren't planning to gang up and pick on a newbie like me, are you?
Kiro: Since when have I ever picked on you? Hypnos, step away from the table. Let me teach Queen the rules of the game.
At that, Director Liu chuckles and gives up his seat.
Hypnos. I silently commit the codename to memory.
After I take my seat, the dealer steps forward. The freshly shuffled cards fan smoothly between his fingers before being slid in front of Kiro and me.
Kiro: Add up your hand. The hand with the higher sum wins. Anything over twenty-one busts.
T/n: The game they're playing here is Blackjack, or at least, some simpler variation of it :>
He quickly demonstrates a round for me, and I nod, deliberately drawing out my tone.
MC: I’ll try one round first. If I lose, I’m out.
He smiles and agrees. The game begins smoothly and I glance down at my cards.
MC: Eight… Hmm, that’s not too bad.
Kiro: Don’t be nervous. This game is simpler than the one we played last week.
MC: You mean that strategy board game?
Kiro: Yeah. For that boss fight, we grinded for ages and still couldn’t clear it. We even said we’d try again together during Spring Festival.
…Wait. Didn’t he clear that boss in a single run?
The image of that boss flashes through my mind, and my hand pauses midair.
The attire... does look a bit like Director Liu’s....
Is he hinting that I should pay attention to him? Understanding what Kiro's getting at, I smile.
MC: Sure. It’s been a few days since we teamed up in a game anyway.
A fleeting smile passes across his lips as he taps the table lightly.
Kiro: Let’s not talk about that game for now. It’s your turn to draw.
I casually draw another card. Kiro seems to be considering the cards in his hand as he speaks in an offhand tone.
Kiro: So, did you catch them?
MC: …What?
Kiro: Oh, not you. I was asking Hypnos. We were talking about work before you got here.
I glance to the side. At once, Hypnos lowers his head respectfully.
Hypnos: We’ve contained a few of them, but the one who took the files got away.
Hypnos: With all the New Year travel traffic, it’ll take more time to track him down.
As he speaks, the second round of cards is dealt. I glance at mine—a heart.
Kiro looks at his own hand and raises an eyebrow.
Kiro: Get the others to talk. Find out who’s behind it. And as for the data... if we can’t retrieve it, then so be it.
Kiro: I've embedded a termination key into it. If anyone outside authorized access tries to run it, it will self-destruct immediately.
Out of the corner of my eye, I catch Hypnos’ hand stiffening slightly.
Hypnos: That wouldn’t be ideal. It is a unique copy, after all.
Hypnos: The core research on Evol transfer technology is just one step away from advancing to the next stage. If it’s destroyed, all our previous efforts will be wasted.
Hypnos: Boss, perhaps you should reconsider—
Kiro: [turning to MC] Do you want to reconsider?
Cutting him off, he turns towards me with a faint smile, ignoring Hypnos’ visible anxiety.
MC: Hmm…
I press my lips together, then let my gaze shift thoughtfully.
MC: As a beginner, would you suggest I reconsider?
Kiro: As a beginner, it’s best not to overthink it. Just go with your instincts.
MC: Then I won’t.
The cards are revealed and I end up winning against Kiro by a single point. The corner of his lips curl up slightly as he pushes all the chips he wagered over to me.
MC: [grinning widely] Thanks, Boss.
I wink at him playfully, a happy little tail wagging inside my heart.
Hypnos: The Queen is lucky. No one else has been able to beat the Boss tonight.
As he speaks, he lifts his glass, about to clink it against mine—only to notice that there’s no drink by my side. He smacks his forehead.
Hypnos: Look at me, so focused on the cards that I forgot—waiter, a martini for the lady.
Waiter: Yes, right away.
Before long, the martini is brought over. I carefully set it aside and casually draw another card.
MC: [grinning] Reveal, and I have exactly twenty-one points.
Kiro: You say you don’t really play, but when you win, you show no mercy, do you?
MC: [smiling cheekily] Just beginner’s luck, is all.
He smiles, his gaze drifting briefly towards Hypnos.
Hypnos glances at his phone again, as if waiting for a message. Seeing that we’ve finished the round, he smiles.
Hypnos: It’s about time, Ms. MC, the press reception is about to begin. Shall we head out?
Before I can respond, Kiro carelessly tosses the cards in his hand aside.
Kiro: What’s the rush? We’re not done talking yet.
——*:・゚✧——*:・゚✧——
[CHAPTER 2]
For some reason, after Kiro says that, the atmosphere of the room turns a little colder.
Hypnos: …Then you’ll have to excuse me, Boss. The reception is about to begin.
Kiro lets out a soft laugh, but there is nothing warm in his voice.
Kiro: Are you really planning to attend the reception with the Queen... or abduct her and make a run for it?
The azure blue of his eyes flashes with gold. Hypnos’ expression darkens instantly, and a faint surge of energy fluctuations ripple through the air around us.
I immediately sidestep and quickly dart to Kiro's side. Almost at the same time, the surrounding BS members rush forward.
Hypnos: …***!
Hypnos curses under his breath. In the next instant, the air seems to warp and he vanishes—right from under our noses!
Kiro: MC, are you alright?
Kiro's voice sounds somewhat anxious beside my ear. I take hold of his hand and shake my head.
MC: I’m fine. Good thing you reacted quickly… Director Liu—was he planning to take me hostage?
Kiro nods, his voice deep and resonant.
Kiro: I'm guessing that's why he called you here. The stolen data we mentioned earlier? He was the one who took it.
My eyes widen in shock. Relief mixes with a lingering chill of fear.
MC: Good thing you tipped me off… The drink he ordered for me might have been tampered with too. I’m glad I didn’t touch it.
While we’re still talking, a young man approaches to report. Kiro lifts his chin slightly.
BS Member: Boss, he’s probably already gone far. No sign of him nearby.
Kiro: Let him run. And his subordinate too. Create an opportunity for him to escape with the data—make it look natural.
BS Member: You want to give him the data as well?
Kiro: Mhm. With the data in hand, he’ll likely meet his buyer within the next few days. Send more personnel to keep an eye on things in the city.
BS Member: Understood.
After giving these instructions, Kiro exhales softly, then turns to me with a smile.
Kiro: Let’s go. We'll get you something to eat first to calm your nerves. Just in case, let's skip the press reception for now, you can stay at my place tonight.
—
We walk out the room hand in hand. Even though Kiro looks relaxed, I still catch a trace of fatigue in the deep blue of his eyes.
My chest tightens a little and I gently poke his cheek.
MC: Feeling tired?
Kiro: A little… [lets out a long, exhausted sigh] Hope things wrap up soon so we can go home and get some proper rest. Then, we can go on a big grocery run for New Year’s Eve dinner, and celebrate the New Year together~
He narrows his eyes slightly, a hint of longing in his voice.
MC: Then how much longer do you have to stay here?
Kiro: Hard to say right now… If things move quickly, I can hopefully make it back in time for New Year’s Eve in a couple of days.
As he says this, he purses his lips slightly, a flicker of anxiety crossing his expression. I don't even think before I blurt out—
MC: Then I’ll stay and keep you company. Anyways, even if I go back now, I won't be able to do anything at home except miss you.
A flash of surprise lights up his face, but it quickly gives way to hesitation. Guessing exactly why he’s hesitating, I rush to reassure him.
MC: When you’re busy handling things, I’ll go explore on my own.
MC: And when you’re free, we’ll still get to see each other~
His eyes curve into a soft, beautiful smile.
Kiro: That’s true. Compared to staring at each other through a screen… I’d much rather be with you in person.
—
I originally thought that staying here would mean accompanying him through various matters. But early this morning, Kiro unexpectedly disguises himself and takes me out shopping instead.
Turning my head, I glance at him again. His soft hair glows with a warm golden hue in the sunlight.
MC: I thought you’d be busy handling things today too… Don't you need to worry about the guy who escaped yesterday?
MC: If you need to work, just tell me.
Kiro: It’s already being “handled.” I have to look like I’ve lowered my guard—that’s the only way they’ll expose themselves.
I nod in understanding.
MC: So we’re pretending to be on a date right now, then?
Kiro: Not pretending. Today, all you need to think about is me and how to enjoy yourself. You don’t have to worry about anything else.
Hearing that, I can’t stop the smile tugging at my lips and I tighten my hold around his arm.
With New Year’s Eve only two days away, bright red “Fu” (good fortune) characters hang everywhere along the bustling streets.
The scent of hot oil and rice cakes drifts through the air, the whole city steeped in that lively, festive atmosphere unique to the days before the New Year.
My eyes wander over the vibrant displays until I suddenly notice a shop window lined with bottles of liquor.
MC: I read that M City has two really famous distilleries. That means the liquor here should count as a local specialty, right?
Kiro: Yeah. There are quite a few varieties here you can’t find elsewhere. Let's go check it out.
—
The door chimes softly as we step into the liquor store, and a faint botanical scent lingers in the air.
Glancing at the dazzling array of bottles lined on the shelves, I am momentarily overwhelmed by the selection.
Clerk: Welcome. The shelves here feature specialties from our local distilleries. Would you like an introduction?
As I listen to the clerk's explanation, I curiously examine the unfamiliar varieties.
Kiro: Do you sell Moscato sparkling wine here?
Clerk: That one is a seasonal limited release. The distillery hasn’t been producing it recently. My apologies.
Seeing the flicker of disappointment on Kiro's face, I turn to him with interest.
MC: What kind of wine is that?
Kiro: It’s a sparkling wine with a relatively light and refreshing taste. The last time I came here, I happened to try it. I thought you’d probably like it too.
Kiro: I was planning to buy some for us to take back… but if production has stopped, there’s nothing we can do about it.
MC: But since it’s seasonal, that means it'll be restocked later, right?
Clerk: Of course. You can keep track of our store for our new arrivals.
MC: Then we’ll pick something else for today. When it’s back in stock, we’ll buy some and enjoy it together at home~
—
Before long, all the bottles I’ve chosen fill nearly half the counter top.
Kiro stares at them, momentarily speechless.
Kiro: A few days apart and Miss Chips has turned into a little drunkard…
MC: That’s not it! These count as local specialties. Since we’re already here, I might as well pick up some New Year’s gifts for everyone back home.
MC: For Savin, for the neighboring uncle who always helps take care of Apple Box and Cello, as well as some colleagues at the company…
After calculating and making sure that it all adds up, I wave my hand decisively.
MC: [with a big smile] Please wrap them all up for me.
Clerk: Certainly. If you’d like, we also offer mailing and delivery services.
—
After arranging the delivery, I leave the store feeling completely satisfied.
Hand in hand, we wander slowly through the bustling streets, and wrapped in the warmth of the New Year’s atmosphere, a quiet calm settles in my heart.
We've both been so busy lately that it feels like it's been ages since we last properly went out shopping like this. As soon as the break started, Kiro was even forced to go on this so called "business trip".
Glancing back at him, I see Kiro's eyes squinting a bit, a relaxed smile curving at his lips. The sight of it makes my chest warm.
I gently poke the corner of his mouth.
MC: You’ve finally stopped looking so tense.
Kiro: Have I really looked that tense these past few days?
MC: You have. Especially when I saw you yesterday.
Although he tries hard to smile in a way that doesn't make me worry, that subtle, unmistakable agitation still manages to seep through.
Since we’re usually so busy, every holiday the two of us get to spend together as a couple is precious. So I know, better than anyone, how frustrating it feels when that time is disrupted by troublesome affairs.
MC: I'm glad I didn’t leave you alone here~
What answers me is the sudden closeness of his breath—
The kiss is especially heated in the winter air, its burning warmth travelling all the way from my cheeks to the tips of my ears.
A moment later, he slowly pulls away, smiling as he nuzzles his nose gently against mine.
Kiro: And I'm glad you’re by my side now.
We walk slowly beneath the sunlight, and the faint tension from yesterday seems to dissolve into the warmth of the day.
I tell him about the books I’ve been reading at home these past few days, and about Apple Box’s fun little antics.
He smiles as he listens to me talk, as if nothing in the world could get to us—as if time would simply stretch on like this forever.
Until his phone interrupts me mid-sentence.
He glances at the screen, and the softness in his eyes fades.
I can more or less guess it’s about BS again. I give his fingers a gentle squeeze.
MC: Go ahead and take it. I’ll sit over there for a bit.
He nods and steps aside to answer the call.
Like a rhythm abruptly cut short.
The moment he answers the call, every trace of his smile disappears and he’s back to the cold, detached expression he wore at the casino yesterday.
I used to wonder sometimes—if this was what Kiro was like when I wasn't around him.
Yet he never fails to return to me with all that warmth and happiness of his, leaving the darker, more complicated matters in places I cannot see.
…If only there was something I could do for him, too.
A dull ache rises in my chest. Before I fully realize what I'm doing, I’ve already taken out my phone and dialed a number.
MC: Hello? Sister Wen… I'd like to wish you a Happy New Year in advance.
MC: Let’s definitely get together after the holidays… Oh, by the way—didn’t you mention you’d be having dinner with Director Liu sometime these next few days?
MC: There’s something I’d like you to help me keep an eye on.
——*:・゚✧——*:・゚✧——
[CHAPTER 3]
We wander through a few more interesting little shops before finally returning to the hotel as night falls.
After dinner, we sit together in the hotel’s rooftop bar. There's a wine cabinet that's built into the wall of our private room, with rows of glass shelves neatly displaying bottles of all kinds.
Clear, amber, and deep brown liquors stand quietly under the lights, their bottles sleek, their labels understated—yet their value is obvious at a glance.
Warm dim lighting envelopes the room. Beyond the floor-to-ceiling windows, the city stretches into the distance, its glittering skyline merging with the moonlight.
MC: As expected of M City… even the bars here have such a wide selection of drinks.
Kiro: The owner here is a real wine enthusiast, so the collection is extensive. Remember the wine I mentioned earlier? This is where I first tried it.
MC: Do you come here often? Is the owner a friend of yours?
Kiro: He has to call me Boss before he dares becoming my friend.
Glass bottles are lined up neatly across the table. Under the lights, the different hues of liquor catch and refract into delicate glimmers.
MC: So are all of these M City’s “specialties”?
Kiro: Some are. Others are imported. Want to pick one and try it?
I study them for a while, noticing how each bottle has its own distinct color.
MC: The drink you mentioned earlier—do they have it here?
He picks out a bottle from among them and pours the liquid into the glass in front of me.
The wine is pink, with tiny bubbles rising through it, carrying with it a faintly sweet aroma. I take a sip, no longer able to control myself.
Instantly, the sweetness of berries spreads across my tongue, mingling with the bubbly fizz. My eyes widen in surprise.
MC: It’s really good.
Seeing me nod, he leans in and takes a sip as well.
Kiro: The first time I tried it, I thought it felt a lot like you.
MC: Hmm? And what does the “feel of me” taste like?
He gently swirls the glass, the fractured light refracting through it gliding across his fingertips.
Kiro: Sweet at first, like bubbles dancing on your tongue. Then, once you swallow it, there’s this tiny hint of sourness to it… like this.
As he says that, he leans in and gently kisses the corner of my lips.
The sweet-and-sour taste of berries mixes with the faint trace of alcohol on his breath—a concoction more intoxicating than the wine itself.
Kiro: Back when I used to come here alone to handle work matters, I’d often think about you, and then I’d order a glass of this.
Feeling like I've uncovered another little secret of his, I feel both my lips and my heart grow warm with sweetness.
MC: Then… what about the other times? What do you usually drink?
He passes me the glass in his hand.
The dark amber liquid sways gently inside. I take a small sip.
The spirit's full-bodied intensity, accompanied by a crisp, dry coolness, pours down my throat, leaving a lingering and unforgettable aftertaste.
MC: Is this… gin?
He nods. I take another sip, savoring it carefully—
It feels like swallowing a mouthful of cold winter air.
It perfectly mirrors the inescapable chill he exudes whenever he's operating within Black Swan.
Though there’s a certain distance between us, it enthralls me, and I'm unable to resist the temptation to get closer to him.
Kiro: At BS gatherings—or when someone meets me alone for a drink—this is what I usually order.
It’s the first time I’ve heard him reveal such a thing, and it instantly piques my curiosity.
MC: Do the members of BS often drink together?
Kiro: Occasionally. But most of the time, when someone asks to drink with me one-on-one, it’s usually because they want something. The last time Hephaestus said he wanted to treat me to a drink—
Kiro: He ended up spending half the night complaining about a few project heads being too aggressive with spending and asked me to rein them in.
MC: Pfft—so did you?
Kiro: I did. Those people were using project funding as a pretext to line their own pockets.
Kiro: [smiling roguishly] Once they’d made their profits, I made them bleed out every last cent—including the principal. And then, I removed them.
MC: Haha, exactly what those bad guys deserve~
Grinning, I lightly clink my glass against his.
MC: Then let’s take down this villain soon as well—and then have ourselves a wonderful New Year.
Kiro: For me, having you here already completes fifty percent of my “wonderful New Year”.
MC: Then what I want is more than that.
He looks at me, slightly puzzled. I smile and wave my phone in front of him.
MC: Hypnos is involved in the film and television industry, y'know. And lately, M City just so happens to have a lot of film-related events going on.
MC: So what do you think? Don’t ever underestimate this producer’s network of connections.
Kiro: Of course not! I just wasn't expecting this big producer to secretly prepare such a surprise.
His eyes curve gently, like a pool holding countless stars, shimmering faintly within.
I smile and poke his cheek.
MC: This isn’t a surprise. I stayed because I want to be with you.
MC: Just like when I secretly work overtime by myself, you always show up with tons of good food and stick close to “recharge” me.
Kiro: Pfft—but isn’t this situation a little different?
MC: Not really. This time, Hypnos is basically just stabbing the company in the back for kickbacks—classic disloyalty.
MC: I’ve dealt with way tougher partners than this before.
He clearly doesn’t expect the comparison and bursts out laughing.
Kiro: When you put it that way, it really does sound quite similar~
MC: See?
MC: I know that sometimes you worry about danger. But at least when it’s not dangerous, let me shoulder more of the burden with you.
A faint smile plays on his lips. He gently swirls the drink in his glass, his steady gaze resting on me.
Kiro: I just think you’re already so busy as is.
Kiro: When you finally get a chance to rest, I’d rather you relax and look at the garden—instead of clearing the weeds with me.
MC: Are you saying that all the trouble that BS causes you are like weeds?
Kiro: Yeah. Most of the time they aren’t dangerous, but they can pop up all over the place and spread everywhere.
I understand what he means.
Like missing a train by just a couple of seconds, or saying something unintentionally painful, or encountering setbacks at work…
Weeds don’t destroy you overnight—they just wear you down, day after day. And if you don’t pull them out quickly, they’ll grow into something far worse.
MC: These weeds are so annoying.
Kiro: They are. Very much so. If you don’t clear them out, they’ll drain the flowers of their nutrients and take over other people’s space to survive.
Kiro has always walked alone through the night before. Like a star, or a tiny lamp. But the night is also vast and endless, and against it, just a single lamp is bound to be entirely too little.
Even so, he has never once stopped moving forward.
I look into the depths of his eyes.
MC: There will always be weeds in a garden, and weeds need clearing—but a garden deserves to be admired just as much.
MC: Still, no matter which one you choose, doing it by yourself will make you feel a little lonely. So, I want to be with you.
Kiro presses his lips together lightly, a faint smile flickering across his face.
Kiro: Even if it means keeping your head down and missing a lot of beautiful scenery?
MC: To me, there's no scenery that's more beautiful than you are.
MC: I don’t want you wearing that expression you had when you answered that phone call earlier today—not when I’m with you.
MC: Troubles, like weeds, grow everywhere. If I’m not with you, they’ll take up all the space in your heart.
MC: That's why I need to stay by your side—to occupy your heart so completely, that they can’t even try to get in.
His gaze trembles and he blinks slowly, as if the effects of the alcohol are starting to settle in, or as if he’s making up his mind about something.
The moment seems to stretch on for a very long time.
Kiro: Go on then—take as much of my heart as you want.
His voice, soaked in alcohol, carries a soft, seductive huskiness to it.
At last, he reaches out his hand—inviting me to cross that ambiguous, unspoken line between us and come to his side.
So I take a step forward, closing the distance between us, to the point where even our breaths almost blend into one.
MC: Your wish is my command.
The warm amber light filters through his lenses, and melts into a suggestive glow in his eyes, as if he's been waiting for me to say those words all along.
Then, taking my hand, he presses a gentle kiss to my wrist.

[Released Date: 16th June 2026]
[Prologue]
Shaw has been coming to my house much more frequently lately.
The reason was that construction had started below his apartment. Every day at exactly nine in the morning, all kinds of sharp, ear-piercing noises would begin right on schedule, blaring in his ears like an endless performance.
To make matters worse, Shaw was a night owl who often had his days and nights reversed.
He put up with it for two days, but on the third day, he finally showed up at my doorstep with his bag in hand.
Under normal circumstances, this would have made me very happy... if Shaw's birthday wasn't drawing closer and closer.
The afternoon sunlight spilled across the living room floor. While Shaw was catching up on sleep in the bedroom, I quietly dragged out a box of crafting materials.
I had just picked up a pair of scissors and was about to measure a ribbon when a lazy voice suddenly sounded from behind me.
Shaw: What are you doing?
MC: ………?!
I had no idea when he had woken up. He was peeking over my shoulder, and the messy blue-purple ends of his hair almost brushed against my cheek.
His gaze moved away from my face and landed on the paper boxes and colored paper scattered all over the floor.
Shaw: Are you preparing a birthday gift for me?
MC: Hmph. Your birthday is still half a month away, and you're already thinking about gifts. Dream on.
Shaw stared at me for two seconds, then lowered his head to look at the wrapping paper and decorative flowers on the floor.
Shaw: Keep pretending if you want.
I smiled nonchalantly and naturally looked up.
MC: By the way, there's something I wanted to ask you.
MC: Our company is preparing a nostalgia program about a classic rock band. You're more familiar with this stuff than I am, so I wanted to get some advice from classmate Shaw.
Shaw: Let's hear it.
MC: If I need a crash course, are there any must-watch concerts or documentaries?
As soon as he heard the words "rock band," Shaw finally stopped paying attention to the suspicious pile of materials.
He narrowed his eyes and thought for a moment, his tone becoming more serious.
Shaw: It depends on what direction your program is taking. If you're talking about live performance energy, Queen is impossible to skip. You could also watch The Beatles, especially their rooftop concert.
MC: The rooftop concert?
Shaw: Yeah, it was their farewell performance. There was no traditional stage, no official promotion—they just suddenly started playing above the city. It’s pretty interesting.
I repeated it unconsciously, a faint image flickering through my mind.
Shaw: That look of yours… you’re not coming up with some weird plan again, are you?
MC: No, no. I’m seriously learning. Keep going.
Shaw then listed a few more bands and documentaries. I nodded along while typing the keywords into my phone notes.
Shaw: If you need vinyl records or old footage, you can find Jensen. He collects a lot of that stuff.
MC: Got it. I’ll look into it over the next while.
Shaw: So polite?
MC: Expert advice is very valuable.
Shaw: Cut it out.
Shaw let out a lazy laugh and stood up, ready to go back to sleep. His hand was already on the door when he suddenly paused and looked back to confirm.
Shaw: It’s really not for my birthday?
MC: Nope. Doing this little mind game every year would be boring. We’ll just have a normal birthday this time, don’t worry.
Shaw: …….
Shaw: Alright. I believe you.
—
After plugging in the final cable into the audio interface correctly, I rotated my sore arm and stretched lazily.
The instruments marked with “Isolated” were arranged one by one on the rooftop. The red brick walls and wooden floor were bathed in the warm glow of the setting sun.
Wind passed through the gaps between high-rise buildings, making the string lights sway gently, as if tuning this small rooftop stage in advance.
Thinking about the expression Shaw would have when he pushed the door open, my heartbeat quietly quickened.
It should feel pretty similar to those performances back then.
I raised my phone again and took a few photos of the rooftop, sending them into the group chat named “SHAW Plan.”
MC: Venue confirmed! Equipment is almost ready, too. Everyone, remember to follow the plan and come on time.
Adam: Received! Mission guaranteed!
Jensen: Don’t worry, we’ll definitely give Shaw a birthday to remember.
Randal: I’m already getting excited!
Fitch: See you there.
Watching the messages pop up one by one, I finally couldn’t help but smile.

[Translation under the cut!]
[door opens + footsteps]
Hmm, what's wrong?
[MC gets out of bed and hugs him]
Awake? Or still asleep?
[Shaw laughs]
What do you mean by asleep but not asleep
My steps were pretty light how could you still hear them
That means you just weren’t asleep
[Shaw kisses MC]
Alright, then go on and sleep…
[His cute panic voice]
What are you doing?
Hmm? Sleep with you?
I can’t really sleep, but I can lie with you for a bit.
[Shaw lies down and takes a deep breath]
Did you forget? I’m going to the countryside with the archaeology team tomorrow for half a month.
The bus is at 4 a.m.
I might as well just get through it like this and sleep on the bus later.
There are only a few hours left anyway.
Hmm? I’ll definitely get enough sleep.
The place this time is really remote.
The bus ride will take seven or eight hours.
That’s why they said to leave early and avoid the rush.
Once I get on the bus, put on a neck pillow, put on headphones, close my eyes,
and by the time I arrive, I can still have lunch.
Who said I can’t sleep because I’m excited
You think I’m like you?
Every time I travel, I act like a primary school kid going on a field trip
[MC hits Shaw]
Tch, can’t even tell the truth?
You’re getting more and more pushy
Alright, aren’t you going to work tomorrow?
Big-time producer
[in a sweet, low-key pleading voice]
I’m begging you, just sleep already
[typing sounds + Shaw's breathing]
Hmm? I replied to a message
[Shaw lets out a sigh]
Adam asked to borrow my game account, they’re playing a five-man team
I told him not to change my key settings
[Shaw yawns]
Hmm? I’m not sleepy
[in a pouty voice]
Yawning is just a normal physiological reaction
You should be the one closing your eyes and sleeping
[Shaw yawns again]
To freshen up
[Shaw gets of bed + pop one candy into his mouth]
Hmm? It’s just a mint candy
What are you going to eat, aren't you sleeping?
Copycat
[Clicks his tongue + take out a candy and give it to MC]
Hmm, open your mouth
Yeah, it’s yogurt mint flavor I gave you
This one has a softer taste, not too strong.
Mine?
I think mine is called…
Flame Mint.
No, you can’t have it.
[MC gets handsy + Shaw's cute panic sounds]
Why are you acting spoiled? Do you really have to taste it?
Fine then.
[Shaw kisses her]
Can you taste it?
No?
I did taste the milk flavor in your mouth though.
It’s pretty obvious.
But I barely tasted the mint.
Let me try again.
No?
[in a dangerous voice]
That’s not your call.
[Literally kissed her for 10 seconds straight]
Alright, now your candy is in my mouth.
[MC ambush him]
What are you doing?
[acting innocent]
How am I like that? What did I even do?
Like a primary school kid grabbing candy?
Don’t slander primary school kids.
[laughs + in a low seductive voice]
Primary school kids don’t even kiss like that—only college students do.
[Kiss + MC hits Shaw again]
Then I’ll give the candy back.
[starts teasing her]
Do you want it? Do you want it? Do you want it?
[MC fiercely kiss him + as a result he ended up swallowing the candy]
I accidentally swallowed it, let’s start over.
This time, taste it carefully, hmm?
You pick the flavor.
Or…
Do you want a blind pick?
Then I’ll choose blindly.
[puts a candy in his mouth and starts kissing her]
What do you taste?
Still mint.
I mean, besides mint, what else do you taste?
I was just messing with you—you actually started thinking about it.
It’s just pure, additive-free mint candy.
Now even our breath smells like it.
Too cold?
I don’t think you feel cold anywhere.
Your mouth is warm, and so is your face.
[his voice dropping an octave 🫣]
Even here… it’s burning hot.
[delicious kissing sounds + low teasing]
I just realized something.
[Kiss]
You also smell like mint body wash, just like me.
Thanks to you and the mint, I’m completely awake now—no sleepiness at all.
What about you?
Dodging difficult questions again, are we?
That’s fine. Your body already gave me the answer anyway.
It's much more honest than you are.
I can feel it, you know.
It's telling me…
...that you can't bear to let me go.
That you're going to miss me terribly while I'm gone these next few days.
[Kiss]
That's why you refuse to sleep tonight.
So, don't sleep.
[Kiss]
Have another one.
Engrave this taste deep into your memory.
[Kiss]
The ice-cold.
[Kiss]
The burning-hot.
[Kiss]
Remember it for a lifetime.
[endless kissing without stopping]

ASMR Texts (Miss you)
[Section 1]
Shaw: Miss you.
[Section 1.1]
MC: It's been 15 seconds already. Where's the "v50" reply? Did your internet freeze???
[T/N]: "v50" (V我50) is a famous Chinese internet meme/slang which means "transfer me 50 yuan via WeChat"
Shaw: 111, the connection's fine.
[T/N]: Typing 111 is Chinese internet slang similar to saying: yep, yeah.
Shaw: Can't I tell the truth once in a while?
Shaw: Do I really have to video call you and say it to your face?
[Section 1.2]
MC: !!!! Who took Shaw's phone? Give it back to him right now!
Shaw: ……
Shaw: Must be an impostor Shaw.
Shaw: Want to start a video call to verify my identity?
[Section 1.3]
MC: I miss you too =3
Shaw: ...You accepted it that easily?
Shaw: Boring.
Shaw: I thought you'd question whether it was really me first.
Shaw: Then we'd have to video call to verify my identity.
—
[Section 2.1]
MC: Can you video call right now?
Shaw: ...Looks like I can't.
Shaw: What a terrible internet connection out here in the countryside.
Shaw: Forget it. Whatever.
[Section 2.2]
MC: No need. Everything you said afterward already proved it's really you.
Shaw: You verified it that quickly?
Shaw: Actually, I was kind of hoping we'd video call so I could see you.
Shaw: But I tried just now. The internet here is terrible. What a pain.
[Section 2.3]
MC: Actually... you could verify it another way~
Shaw: ?
Shaw: I've sent 520 to your Couple Wallet. Got it?
[T/N]: 520 (wǔ èr líng) sounds similar to 我爱你 (wǒ ài nǐ), meaning "I love you." Because of this, 520 RMB has become a classic romantic amount to send in China. This brat is using money as a way to "verify" that it's really him, since it's something only he would do!
Shaw: Turns out saying something casually can be pretty expensive.
—
[Section 3.1]
MC: Why did you suddenly say you missed me?
Shaw: Do I need to submit an application before I'm allowed to miss you?
Shaw: I just heard someone humming one of your favorite songs.
Shaw: And it suddenly made me think of you.
[Section 3.2]
MC: When are you coming back?
Shaw: Soon.
Shaw: Three or four more days, probably.
Shaw: No, tonight I'm borrowing someone's hotspot if I have to. I'm video calling you no matter what.
[Section 3.3]
MC: Shaw, I miss you.
Shaw: You're sure there isn't some elaborate punchline coming afterward?
Shaw: Then I'll take that as your genuine feelings.
