As You Held Onto Me
Before: He sits with her until the sun peeks through that place where the earth ends and the sky begins. Soo doesn’t lean on him; that’s a level of familiarity she won’t allow herself. But he’s here with her, he’s warm and alive. He says he belongs to her. He stands beside her when she is alone. He takes arrows meant for her. And though the grain-sized baby inside of her stops her from reaching out for him, her fragile heart holds onto him with all its might.
