Gabriel Agreste centric — “Messy blades and spilled blood”
The response to this prompt comes to us from @hanaasbananas!
— I've been sitting on this for a few days now and I keep coming back to the idea of, like, a set of vignettes or snapshots through his life, with a repeated motif that changes as his life does or gets sort of warped.
So it could go:
"Gabriel Agreste would never be a father." going into his reasons why, a child would be a distraction from his work, and there were too many variables involved. He'd considered having a child to be his heir but the chances of the child posessing the same skills needed to run his business were slim, he'd rather take an apprentice the way Audrey had taken him in.
"Gabriel Agreste didn't want to be a father." He really didn't understand why Emelie so desperately wanted a child. It would only disrupt their lives. Treatments were expensive etc etc. He didn't want to be a father, but for Emelie he tried.
"Gabriel Agreste was not a very good father". Emelie told him with every reproachful glance, every whispered argument late into the night about his indifference towards their son, every something something. He pretended to ignore her when she'd call him mr grumpy face to Adrien as he passed them by. Emelie didn't talk to him for a week after he asked why she wasn't simply content enough that they'd HAD a child, why did he need to get involved too?
"Gabriel Agreste was a single father." But he wouldn't be for long. Some nights would hear Adrien crying in his room, but what was the point in comforting him, trying to bond? Neither of them would like the experience and besides, Adrien would have his mother back soon enough.
Idk about the part in the middle, where I could have him maybe discover chat noir is Adrien and resents him even more for fighting against him, not wanting his mother back (which is illogical bc adrien doesn't KNOW what Gabriel's endgoal is). There would be a fight, maybe Gabriel doesn't want to get his own hands dirty so he makes an akumatised knight for the blades part of the prompt and he comes out only when Adrien is exhausted. Blood is spilled.
Now this could go either way it could be Adrien had faked and strikes a killing blow or he wasn't and Gabriel does it instead. Either way:
"Gabriel Agreste never wanted to be a father. And now, standing over his sons body/lying at his sons feet, he was a father no more."
