This is for mainly for me at the moment so that I can keep designs consistent between each other. However, this also exists if you'd like to draw your lovely ocs into this universe :)
The toons, "civilians", in the au stick to one color palette to subtly hint they were man made, and are uniform because of that.
You do not have to use every color in this palette in a design! Be resourceful, try to limit yourself to 5 or 6, so that your design feels balanced and harmonious
Magical Forms are Much more loose color wise as it allows the toons to do whatever they wish! They do not follow a color scheme. However, I like to make them extra saturated compared to their civilian counterparts! It makes them very much stand out.
Clothing is very lax, you can dress up your toon in pretty much anything! I do keep a few things in mind when making them.
Toons in this universe worry about being comfortable mainly . They wear clothes people you'd see every day wear. Jackets, clothes, sweaters, ect. They're civilians after all, they just are average.
The au takes place during fall, which both has sometimes warm AND COLD DAYS! This is why most characters have something on that'll keep them protected from the elements, something that is layered, ect. As advance as these creatures are they do not got heating n such. So they have to bundle up. Alas, there's those couple few that wear shorts while it's completely white outside. You can always make them wear videos.
I don't really know where to put this, its just general stuff I don't like doing. Feel free to break them.
I don't like drawing hoodies! No hate I just feel they're out of place sometimes
no graphic shirts (however repeating simple patterns are encouraged)
I'll add more when I think of more oops
MAGICAL FORMS CAN AVOID ANY CLOTHING RULES SINCE THEY CAN DO WHATEVER THEY WISH!!
Though please avoid putting characters in anything suggestive. most characters are modest and flat chested and got nothin to show🥹🙏🙏
Referring to their "skin".. Have fun with them really, there's no set rules you HAVE to have em..but..heheh.. it's encouraged. Spots and stripes are fun, as well as splotches.. most of the time. Don't go TOO overboard ..unless ya wanna. I keep things simple bc I animate and draw a lot, but if you wanna add 50 stripes for a design you may draw once have fun!!
They add interest into a design, and can be whimsical.
Magical Forms can go crazy with patterns especially. Some users choose to reshape their already existing patterns, while others choose to make them unique markings (this makes them a pain in the butt to animate, so think about what you're willing to draw if you do this)
Most of the time, keep these to a minimal. These goobers were never gifted claws or sharp teeth by their creators, so they fumble hard at hunting and just surviving. However, characters with unstable ichor like Astro, or the Magical user toons, are allowed to have animal characteristics in their designs. See "mutations" this section ? For more info about them
MAGICAL FORMS USUALLY HAVE ANIMAL FEATURES!! I encourage them to have them, play around have fun!!!
At the end of the day, just have fun with it . If your unhappy with your design, don't be afraid to do revisions! It can help a lot to test multiple things in order to strike gold.
