Read a post about how much character growth Pat has shown (regards his family and himself) and I just had some thoughts I had to pen down. Sorry abt the long post I rambled way too hard.
Pat's character growth in the last few episodes has been so commendable. I cant even begin to think how hard it has been to unlearn all the things he has been taught and fed into since his childhood. Challenging ones core values is already hard enough but questioning your value givers that you have grown up idealising takes a hell lot of courage. It must be so hard for Pat to realise that the entire value system he based his personality and had full faith upon is hollow and built up on matchsticks. Doomed to burn.
And not just that but also coming to terms with his sexuality on top of that?!!!!! Insane. He is so strong to accept it in one stride and go yeah I love this person what about it. But the rate at which he makes this transition is crazy and I think most of it is definitely due to how he felt around Pran. As soon as his feelings for Pran became clear. His mind felt how it feels when something is true & how something is supposed to feel right. And I think that comparison is what helped him contrast and compare his thoughts and put a finger on the wrongs.
His parents did put him on a pedestal with a lot of expectations however it was with an arrow to his back so he had no choice but perform his 101%. Not just to maintain his position on the pedestal, but also because too much movement from the pedestal might mean grave consequences for him.
That's why he feels free with Pran as he has no expectations to meet or impress. He can be this carefree witty self around him. His main goal is to make Pran happy and he doesn't have to try hard because that comes naturally to him. He's so strong for putting himself out in a state where he doesn't know the extent of Pran's feelings and there's a chance Pran might not be as brave as him.
Yet he is still doing that because I guess somewhere he wants Pran to feel the same freedom that he feels not just about his sexuality but also from the shackles of his family. Cause I guess even Pat knows that Pran is put on the same pedestal of expectations as him. The only difference is if he has an arrow to his back; Pran has a whole ring of fire waiting to swallow him the moment he as much as stumbles.
And that's why I guess Pat speedran his feelings because apart from realising his feelings about his family; in the midst of it he realised that Pran needs rescuing too and way harder than him and we all know he has a natural protective instinct when it comes to Pran.
