hana found herself in this position too often - a cracked phone screen in her hand and a sheepish smile on her lips. if her parents knew how often that poor thing hit the ground, their hearts would probably stop. she was taught to value and take care of her things, and usually she did. however, her butterfingers tended to get the best of her. at least, that was the case only sometimes. and perhaps she’d be a bit more careful if she didn’t have someone right there to fix her screens for her.
her first visit to sunwoo was based solely on an accident. after a battle with her blankets and her missing phone, the girl ended up taking the shattered screen to the boy who was known for the quick fix. and the cute face. so maybe she dropped her phone because she was clumsy or maybe her repairman was just extremely cute.
“sunwoo...” hana greeted the other with a shy smile, holding up her damaged device with one hand. she slid into the seat opposite him before placing the phone down on the table. the girl looked up at him, feigning innocence as she presented her situation. “i dropped it again, could you fix it? please?” ❪ ✽ . — SUNWOO , ❫

@mmsunwoo !
classes have been let out for the day, the nice spring weather meaning that most of their fellow classmates had gone off-campus, leaving the main building barren aside from pesky ghosts. sunwoo and him are in an otherwise empty classroom, out of the prying eyes of any teachers, because the excuse, “i need to work on an assignment!” coupled with sung’s puppy-dog look is a classic. jiyi is busy with quidditch practice, and he had to practically drag sunwoo to come with him today, even though the other boy is still glued to his phone, playing whatever mobile game that’s caught his attention this time.
he’s hunched over his cauldron, sleeves pushed up to his elbows ( after accidentally getting his sweater caught on fire he’s never making that mistake again ) as he peers at the potion he’s been making. inventing, technically. it’s another one of his bright ideas born out of absolute boredom while sitting in arithmancy, a prank in the making that he’s hoping will turn out just fine in his test trial.
sung waves his other hand in the general direction of where he’s laid out his ingredients, eyes focused on stirring the mixture in his cauldron in a series of complicated movements. “sunwoo, can you hand me some of the haliwinkles?” he waits until he feels an object make contact with his hand and takes a better hold of it, grin stretching at the corner of his lips. “thanks honey,” he says, tone sugary sweet before his resolve lessens and he snickers, throwing the last ingredient in.
he consults his neatly written recipe before sitting down, mumbling under his breath as he makes a mental checklist of everything that should have gone into his potion. “okay! it should be done once it finishes simmering and turns a pink color,” he says, propping his head onto the palm of his hands as he looks in the direction of his best friend.
“so whatcha playing, dude? oh, wait- let me guess- is it a dating game? jiyi said that you were lonely, but i didn’t think you would be that lonely,” he teases, voice light and eyes crinkled.

minbyeol laughs at her brother's unexpected burst of anger.
" it's fine, oppa! it didn't even hurt. she just can't accept that i was better than her and decided to be a twelve year old about it. " minbyeol snickers while flipping another page of her book. the curtains of the common room danced in the cold, breezy air. it was the perfect night to sit in front of the fireplace and read the second installment of the series that she was so invested in.
minbyeol vividly recalls what happened in flying class earlier, it was honestly too funny for her to forget.
their professor was demonstrating how to summon brooms for their first meeting. minbyeol wanted to give up, no matter how intensely she stared at her broom and yelled at it to go up, it stayed rooted on the ground like a twig that fell of a tree. after about an hour of trying to raise her broom by even an inch, minbyeol succeeded with a cry of triumph. she looked around and saw that she was one of the first students to get their brooms up in the air. a particular brown-haired girl stared ( or glared ) at her a little too long. not one to back down from a fight, minbyeol matched her stare with equal harshness. for a good five seconds, none of them were willing to yield, until their professor roared at them to focus. the girl was the first to break eye contact. minbyeol scoffed and continued trying to summon her broom.
when the class finished, they all took the liberty of cleaning up after themselves and put the broomsticks back to the storage room. the brown-haired girl " accidentally " brushed past her a little too hard, causing minbyeol to lose her footing. minbyeol just stared at the girl, waiting for an apology. realizing that she won't receive one, rolled her eyes and sauntered to the storage room.
hearing how her brother reacted actually surprised minbyeol a little, he was never one to get angry. minbyeol looks over at him and her face breaks into a tiny smile without her knowing. " i guess he is my big brother after all. "

wonsik doesn’t mind admitting he’s in the wrong. ( sometimes you just gotta suck it up and move on to important things. or go to sleep. he likes the latter. )
he won’t, however, admit that he’s horrible with technology. which he is, terribly so. it’s something that he could never make sense of, unlike charms or even potions, his least favourite subject. too many functions, too many features, wasn’t it just easier to send letters by owls? the only form of technology he can work around is his phone, and even then he has his…moments.
he had been reluctant to buy a new one for weeks, what with his old one still being in good form though it was lagging for too long at one point ( it was an older version after all ) and he knew he had to do something about it. the newly released haneul smartphone was sleek and light but for someone as incompetent in technology as wonsik is, he found it to be a struggle to manage, ending up with a black screen and sunwoo’s name written in big white letters.
“facetime…” he reads ( not out loud because it’s 3 in the morning and people are sleeping, except him apparently, stupid new phone ) with his eyebrows furrowed in confusion. “what the hell is that? ah, shit, knew i shouldn’t have thrown the manual away… ”
“ have fun in alchemy. try not to punch anyone. ”

jiyi groans and whines a few unintelligible syllables, sliding down into her chair and a little under the table. “why didn’t y’all take it with me,” she complains, like this isn’t the same thing she says before every alchemy lesson. she may like the subject, but god is it boring without the other two around. plus, sunwoo’s supposed to be smart, mister tortoise hyeonmu, and she desperately needs someone smarter than her ( a low bar ) to guide her through class.
“i’m not gonna be punching anyone, alchemy’s gonna be punching me.” she pouts at him and flops her head on the table a little too hard, her forehead bouncing once. “ow.” jiyi tilts her head up from the table to look at sunwoo, pointing at the faint red mark that’s left in the centre of her forehead. “d’you think sung’s big bro scary nurse will let me stay at the medcen for a while...”
but ugh, she doesn’t actually want to miss alchemy, she just wants her friends there with her. gotta suck it up and put her big girl pants on.
jiyi swings her bag over her shoulder and mumbles a spell that gets all her parchment haphazardly back into it; she’ll sort it out later. “see you soon, don’t have fun without me!”
