     a potent fragrance of popcorn wades through the air as gunwoo and jihye are diving through different spots of the amusement park, the variety being too broad for them to choose one. they’re out at a rather late time, but it’s perfect for such activities —— when the time comes to ride the ferris wheel, they’ll be illuminated by the resplendent glow of the stars hanging right above their heads. but until then, they have so much to navigate and explore that gunwoo starts doubting if they’ll even get to experience everything in the same night. well, seems like they’ll just have to get back again another time.

     “ okay. do you want to get something to eat first or get straight to the fun? ” his eyes are glistening as they’re carefully scanning the map he’s clutching in his hands, keeping his close distance to the other. the boy stuffs it into his pocket once he’s done inspecting it and shifts his gaze back to jihye, offering a bright yet humble smile. “ wait. ” he pauses, shrugging his jean jacket off his shoulders to clothe jihye’s, making sure she’s basking in warmth before they can move on. “ i don’t want to have to wipe your runny nose and feed you with chicken soup later. ”

     it’s almost two am and it’s dead quiet around the house. there are shadows dancing on the walls of his room, matching the rhythm of the wind blowing outside the opened windows, and, truth be told, if gunwoo was still a kid, he’d find it rather spooky. now his nightmares are twisted alternate versions of his past, making an effort to give him an illusion that it’s real, which has gotten exhausting by this point.

     the street musician abandons his bed and his room to go on a wander around the house, making his first stop at the kitchen to grab a cold bottle of beer. he doesn’t really know where he’s going since he’s still not familiar with the territory of this house & he ends up finding himself outside, splayed out on the grass with his head lolled back to watch the stars. for a second, he thinks of waking up his best friend, but he protests against the idea, deciding to spend the time alone. it’s alright — nights like this, he’s used to them.
