Changli and Rover's conversation at the end of "When the Night Knocks" could be foreshadowing a possible twist
[ SPOILERS FOR THE EVENT ]
This is just a wacky theory, so this won't be too long. To preface, Changli's said something about a person who lost their memories might confuse dream and reality. Rover indulged the train of thought and asked if Solaris was just a dream. Changli didn't confirm nor deny, but she did say to remain vigilant as "keen understanding" of one's surroundings would reveal the truth.
So here's the question: What if Changli's right? It's been established that Rover created several simulations to look for a solution for the Lament. Rover created the Tethys System, a super AI that can recreate different versions of the last ten minutes of reality before the Lament devastated the world. Now, we know that the Somnoire is another one of Rover's attempts to look for a way to combat the Lament by storing everyone's dreams inside, hoping that one of them could make some headway for the solution.
Our Rover has a penchant for making complex simulations from what we've seen so far. So then, what if the story we're experiencing through this Rover is another grand and creative simulation that the original Rover has cooked up? What if none of it is real and we're just living a simulacra through the eyes of a Rover who is just a stand-in of another Rover looking from outside in? What if the narrative is just another simulation, a test to see if this holographic world will yield results. What if this is another one of the disposable non-realities that can be wiped out and its assets reused if it doesn't give the answer someone above us needs? Is Solaris-III the name of the planet because it's the third one from the sun, or did a Solaris-I and Solaris-II precede its creation because both simulations failed?
