Season 1 Episode 10

Episode 10: First Drunk, “The face doesn’t show anything, listen to the heartsbeats!” omg this moe-gap, the morning after, Wei Wuxian and playing children, let’s go to Yi-City, hey juniors why are you here?! total playtime: 27:48

Beware of fangirling like there is no tomorrow, yelling, screaming and crying in wangxian - you have been warned! So let’s see how this drunk thing works *cracksfingers*

0:00-3:33: So Lan Zhan is there and Wei Wuxian panics a little, but the only thing that happened is, that Lan Zhan pushes Wen Ning away without using any magical power and whispers (yes, Wei Chao just whispers!): “Go away.”, then Wei Wuxian notices that Lan Zhan wears his boots wrong and in the end there is the scene where Lan Zhan grabs Wei Wuxian’s fingers and Bichen falls to the ground….IMAGINE this fxxx MOE-GAP…..ahhhhhh, yes, from Wei Wuxian’s perspective this is just utterly unbelievable and surreal… - the only sound are cicades in the night by the way - but for me, this is a wonderful gap in personality…ahhhh, i can’t deal with it, i have to squeal about this…..just to picture this is i am sorry, but i just can’t…..*fliesawaywithflutteringsleeves*….

But what does that “Go away” and “Don’t let him follow” and “Don’t play the flute for him”, mean… Does he hate Wen Ning? Because he killed once GusuLan disciples….hmmm, i don’t think so, think about how Lan Zhan is drunk so i choose this time to interpret his behaviour a little different: he is like a jealous child! “Don’t be too close to Wei Ying” but also “Don’t steal Wei Ying’s awareness from me”, “Wei Ying, don’t play the flute for him” meaning not you shouldn’t summon him because it’s bad to use demonic cultivation, but literally don’t play for someone else the flute but me! In one word: mine! These lines are full of subtexts, but i have to admit, i felt sorry for Wen Ning, he is a sweet guy and must be protected:-)!!

AND :

The embrace with “The Face doesn’t show anything, listen to the heartbeats!” Ahhhhhhhh……..YES, you can hear is beating heart with headphones on your left ear and…….wow…….if you don’t want to melt here right into Lan Wangji’s arms ….you are not human…..it’s just with wangxian as bgm ….and i would …..just simply let him hold me…..my god, this scene is so romantic and sweet and….hmhmhmhmhm……all the feels packed into seconds……so good!!!! Wei Chao…..your voice…..my ears……*asdfjasdhfj*

03:40:-07:46: 

The whole scene feels to me that WWX is just taking care of LWJ and LWJ let’s him, there is nothing but sweetnes and LWJ being the honest character like he always is, the alcohol didn’t change his honesty at all, quite the opposite he seems even more honest to me and like WWX it captured me while listening…

Forehead Ribbon: WWX takes the forehead ribbon again:-)…LWJ: “No, you can’t take it!”, “WWX:”How should i wash your face then?” and LWJ let’s him

Looking good: “Hanguang-Jun why are you looking at me like that, do i look good?” LWJ:”Mn.”…me:  AHHHHHHHHHHHHH, *internalscreaming*

The questioning……as far as i know they are the same questions like in the novel:-) 

WWX: “Did you ever like someone?”, LWJ: “Yes.”….me: asdlkfnjasdhfjag…..god send help, my heart……

WWX (points at himself, while having Bichen on his back): “Do you want it?” and LWJ starring obviously at HIM and not at the sword: “I want it.” and WWX: “????, oh, he wants his sword!”……me: yeah, WWX his sword, wow how can a clever and smart guy like you be so stupid??” 

That was my first reaction to this scene in the novel and the audio drama, BUT now after reading and listeing over again, here is my essay why WWX is oblivious until the end or more like he SEEMS to be this way: if i think about who Hanguang-Jun really is, what he represents, what he is doing, what he symbolizes and what WWX is, represents and symbolizes and you put that into the structures of the world here….i honestly admit, that i wouldn’t believe it either….that someone like Hanguang-Jun would choose completly out of his own desire someone like “me” (like WWX)….., please consider such a perspective. Yes, we all love Wei Wuxian and he is great and powerful and a sweetheart, but think about WWX’s experiences and how people treat him…and now i am saying something that perhaps fans didn’t want to hear, but we have a simple but refreshing  way of telling a Cinderella - Trope….and naturally this is just my own humble opinion *winkwink* and beware WWX’s obliviousness is something really trickey, so maybe it’s worth to check this character trait a few times more:-)) O, and one thing: my impression of this whole First Drunk is just that WWX is so utterly surprised and astonished in regards to Hanguang-Jun’s behaviour, that he really doesn’t get it and why should he care? LWJ is DRUNK!!! Do you take drunken people seriously in real life?!?!

08:00-11:48:

 But let’s move on to the morning after….:-))

Like in the novel WWX teases LWJ in the morning with how bold he was last night and you can hear the shock in Wei Chao’s voice, it’s so clear how shocked he is….i just want to give him a hug….:-)……he clearly thinks that he had done something unforgivible (his inner thoughts are something like this: It’s not the problem that YOU did something to ME, but rather did I something to YOU?!?)….and as it occures to him that really nothing had happened he is soooooo embarrassed he just wants to die?!? But then our “dear friend” is acting up again and so they have to play Rest…After that WWX let’s LWJ rest again….but believe me, i am sure that LWJ has a headache but more than everything he is so disappointed at himself and just dies from embarrasment…

11:49-18:00

Then we learn that WWX loves children,… again, he meets the kids who are playing the Sunshot-Campaign…:-) and how easy he gets along with them….the voice actors of the children are all cute:-)…at 13:48-50 there is a painful short scene, where the bgm changes into sad and dark and you feel like someone stabbed you right into the heart…the kids talking about WWX’s death….this is just short but the audio drama managed to hurt me in 15 secs or so?! Wow….

There is the important thing that WWX realizes how happy he is with LWJ, so yeah, his obliviousness is not as easy as  it may seems….the problem is his own conclusions….:-))

Okay, then LWJ is coming to the scene and the pain in your heart just vanishes.. and together they went to Yi-City (omg, the coming pain…be warned about of tissues and crying in advance!!).

18:01-20:00

There is this scene where WWX is giving the girls the rouge as a token of gratitude because they showed them the way and here it’s just how WWX departet and coming back to Lan Wangji who was waiting for him a bit farer away and WWX asks: “I am back, did you get tired from waiting?” and LWJ just honestly: “No.” (in the novel he is playing with a little stone or rock while waiting and starring and so many said, that he his jealous again….but i think otherweise: waiting for WWX is not the problem, but to just WATCH from the OUTSIDE what he is doing is difficult. You could argue then why doesn’t he go with him….did you actually remember how common people reacting to Lan Wangji? Like they didn’t dare to look at him, like he is not a human being, but an otherworldy existence? You worship someone like him, but don’t treat him like a mere human….and LWJ knows that common people don’t  know how to treat him, so he stays in the background and just watches….check the extra Lotus Seed Pod, where the only human who is helping Lan Wangji is a blind, old women…)

20:00-End: Now to entering Yi-City!!!

WOW, the bgm is so dark (it sounds like dark ethno folk or something like that, like you have some tibetian horn over a spheric, eerie strings and synthesizer …hmm,  i am not sure though…) and the fog is literally breathing, it is really a good spooky sound to set up the famous Yi-City-Arc…..and the tapping sounds of A-Qing’s bamboo pole …..sounds so hollow in the breathing fog….*shivers* and Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji are just well let’s be careful but hey, nothing to be really afraid of, so let’s hold hands!!!!  … Hahahah *screeches-while-listening-to-this-whole-bgm-in-the-middle-of-the-night* …sure Grandmaster with such an exeptionally, godlike cultivator at my side HOLDING MY HAND you are totally right, there is nothing to be afraid of !……BUT WAIT!!! Why are the juniors here and talking about strange things and the way was enchanted,  and where do the fxxxx walking corpses are coming from and why can’t the Granmaster control them (remember the Stygian Tiger Seal!), omg now the corpses spreading strange powder and then there is the gravedigger attacking and noooooo there is this fxxxx cliffhanger here!!!!!
