Day 6: Love notes
Pairing(s) Mob x Gn!Reader
Divider Creds (in order): @/uzmacchiato, @/dollywons
You were in class, working quietly as the teacher explained how to solve a math equation. A few people werenât exactly focused, but no one was outright slacking off. Honestly, if anyone had been, it wouldâve been obviousâ the teacher was the type to throw a fit at the smallest sign of distraction. The only sounds in the room were pencils scratching and his voice cutting through the silence.
Thatâs why it caught your attention when you started hearing whispers behind you. Low at first, then louder, and then disruptive enough to make you glance back. There was even a bit of stifled laughter. Eventually, the teacher snapped. He spun around, scanning the room before marching toward the source of the noise, a pair of guys still chuckling, and snatched the note they were passing around.
Without a word, he strode back to the front of the class, slammed the note onto his podium, and turned to face everyone. You didnât think much of it, at least not until he started talking about the note and its contents.
âLoveâ and âcrushâ were the two key words that caught your attention. You looked up from where you had been absentmindedly doodling on your paper and finally decided to listen to what the teacher was saying.
He was speaking to the class in that firm, scolding tone of his. âClass time isnât for passing notes, especially not ones about little crushes.â A few people snickered at that, amused by the idea of someone flirting in math class. âI mean it,â he continued, âthis is class time, and I expect this to be the last time I hear or see something like this.â
He took a look at the crumpled piece of paper, eyeing it suspiciously. âWhose note is this, anyway?â he demanded, glancing at the two boys he had taken it from. After tracing the chain of hands it had passed through, the trail finally ended at the culprit.
You, and apparently everyone else, turned in your seats. The culprit was Mob. You were so shocked that you nearly swore out loud. Mob looked mortified. To your surprise, he didnât deny it, in fact, he actually raised his hand. He stood with his head down, face red with embarrassment.
He almost looked guilty, not just for the note, but for disrupting class at all. The teacher, realizing who it was, simply sighed, waved him off with a warning, and went back to the lesson.
The laughter didnât stop until the teacher snapped again, and even then, you couldnât help glancing back at Mob before turning to your work. You couldnât stop wondering what that was all aboutâŚ
-
A few more classes passed before lunch finally arrived. You practically jumped out of your seat, determined to catch Mob before he disappeared somewhere you couldnât find him later. You hurried after him, calling his name until he turned to face you.
âWhat was all that about?â you asked, the impatience in your voice hard to hide.
âHuh?â Mob blinked, clearly confused, as if he had already forgotten the entire ordeal.
âWhen you got caught passing that noteâ the one about âcrushesâ. What was that about?â You fixed him with a look, waiting for an answer.
At the mention of it, he flustered immediately, face pinking as he glanced away. That was when you decided youâd get the truth out of him one way or another.
-
After walking for a while and dragging Mob by the hand to somewhere more secluded (which he stuttered over the whole time), you finally stopped and turned to face him.
âSo, let me get this straight,â you said. âYou asked Reigen about love, he gave you some awful advice, then Dimple caught wind of it and told you to drop the idea entirely?â
âYep,â Mob replied, still looking at you.
âAnd Iâm going to guess you let Dimple convince you that writing love notes was a good idea?â
Mobâs face turned pink again, and he nodded while avoiding your gaze.
âPffftââ You couldnât help it. You started laughing, then broke into hysterics. The whole situation was just ridiculous.âYou actually took Dimpleâs advice? After what happened today, I donât think anyone in that class is ever going to forget it.â
Mob didnât respond, though he looked more embarrassed than upset. After a moment, he explained that it wasnât even the first time he had tried. The first note never made it because someone dropped it and the teacher threw it away. The second one got caught in the wind and flew off somewhere.
âThird timeâs the charm, huh?â you said with a sigh once youâd finally calmed down. âSeriously though, Mob.â You looked at him deadpan. âWhy would you ever listen to Dimple? Or Reigen, for that matter, especially when it comes to love?â
You waited for an answer, but when Mob stayed quiet, your amusement faded into curiosity. âWhat is it?â
He hesitated before speaking. âAm I supposed to go to you for advice about love?â It was a genuine question.
âOkayyy,â you said slowly, not sure what to make of that. âWell, instead of asking anyone for advice, why donât you just talk to the person youâre actually dating?â Then you gestured to yourself.
At that, Mob grew shy again.
âWell, okâ You scratched your head, âJust heed my advice ok?â
Mob faced to look at you again.
âDonât take any love advice from Reigen or Dimple ever again, just ask Ritsu or Teru if you have to. They seem sensible enough.â
Mob nodded, âYea, ok. Sorryâ You sighed and smiled at him endearingly, âItâs okay Mob, you donât have to apologize.â
âActuallyâŚâ You got your bag, opened it, and began to go through it. Then, you took out the very note that had been discarded in the trash after the whole incident.
âI retrieved it some time during another class, I made the excuse that I had to throw something away.â You handed it out to Mob. âIâm not gonna read it if you donât want me to, but if youâre okay with itâ may I?â
At that, Mob flew into a panic. He shook his head then he nodded really hard and then he just broke? You arenât really sure.
âHey, itâs fine if you don't want me toââ Mob interrupted you.
âItâs okay, I wrote that note for you so I want you to read it.â Mob looked determined, as determined as he could anyway.
âSeriously?â You asked and Mob nodded, but eventually the confidence he had mustered depleted from his body.
âCan you do it in private?â He had made an ask and all you could do was laugh and nod. âFor sure, donât worry about it Mob.â
Mob had already turned to walk back the way you had come, and you were about to follow when you felt like admitting something.
You stalled and then you added, âButtt I may or may have not read a bit of it.â
At that, Mob tensed up and whipped back to look at you, âAnddd if you wanted me to give you a kiss on the cheek, you couldâve just asked.â Mob quickly faced away from you, the thought of you doing that seemingly having already overridden his overdrive.
You laughed and caught up to him so that you were both standing side by side, âI was kidding Mob,â he lifted his head â For the most part anyway.â Then he looked down again.
âA quick one? I promise Itââll just be a peck.â He looked even redder, maybe you should stop. You quickly stood up straight again, âI'm just teasing, sorry. We should get going though.â You walked a bit ahead before you realized that Mob wasnât following.
You turned to face him again, âMob?â
You walked back up to where he was standing and looking down at the ground as if it was something worth noting. âYou canâŚâ He mumbled.
âWhat? Sorry I didnât hear.â Mob looked up and he told you, âYou can.â
oh. OH. You gasped and then gasped at your gasp and obvious surprise. âSeriously?â
Mob slowly, and almost reluctantly, nodded.
It took a bit to get him at an angle where he wasnât shying away or obstructing his face but you managed to plant that kiss on his cheek in the end.
And It took a bit (a whole lot) to calm him down from it.
Finally, when you decided it was time to head back, you stopped once again. âCan I hold your hand?â
Mob shook his head and you accepted it.
Worth a try.
You two began walking back to class and down the hallway, âWhere is Dimple anyway?â
âHe said he had something he had to take care of,â Mob replied.
âLet me know when that booger gets back, I need to have a very firm talk with himâ Reigen too now that I think about it.â
-
You did in fact smack the shit out of Dimple, the end.
You still werenât sure how to feel about the fact that he was the one who had added the request for a kiss in the note, not Mob, which you also later found out.
