Some doodles for a Hermit mythology AU that I’ve had in my notes for a little while.

Etho is a god of madness who has taken a liking to a trio of mortal heroes (Gem, Joel, and Bdubs), and disguises himself as a human so he can gift the three coins, claiming them to be “lucky charms”. These coins basically symbolize that they are now under Etho’s patronage, which is not a thing you want. Mortals tend to die when Etho gets attached to them (not his fault, exactly, he just brings a lot of bad luck).

Tango is a trickster god as well as a “mother of monsters” type deity. He takes notice of Bdubs after he chooses to spare a young monster, and after realizing that Bdubs is under Etho’s patronage he reveals himself to him, destroys the coin, and becomes Bdubs’ new patron god. This is the first mortal he’s liked in centuries, he’s not letting Etho ruin it for him.
