FAROUK: Bio For Mobile Users~!
Name: Farouk
Alias: Formerly Known as Thief King (Yami) Bakura
Age: 28 years
Height: 5'10"
Weight: 190 lbs
Species: Human (No longer under Zorc’s Demonic Influence)
Sexual Orientation: Homosexual
Occupation: Currently Looking for One
Temperament:
Despite his reputation as a violent criminal, Farouk is quite far from it. Despite his tendency to be rough around the edges due to years of having to learn how to survive in the desert’s harshest conditions, he’s a confident, calm and caring leader first and foremost and does whatever he can to care for those he’s close to. While he does have the ability to hold a grudge, Farouk normally chooses not to fight if he can avoid it and prefers to settle things peacefully if he can. In his mind, hatred will bring nothing but trouble, and he tends to air on the side of caution rather than recklessness.
Farouk is surprisingly gentle, sweet and affectionate towards those he knows well. Once he truly trusts someone, he’s mostly just a big softie and is very touch oriented as a form of affection. Though he may pretend to gripe and grouse about it, he thrives on physical contact between himself and those he’s close to, platonic or otherwise.
He is also highly intelligent when it comes to street smarts and is not one to get into trouble very easily. He knows how to avoid danger and knows how to keep himself almost invisible unless other’s are truly paying attention to his presence.
History:
Farouk grew up alone in Kul Elna, and by the time he reached the age of only 12 years old, had become a master of survival. He knew where to find fresh water, where there were edible plants and how to scrounge up just enough food to keep himself alive. As he grew older, he began to come across others who had been ousted from their homes and were struggling to eke out a living, just like he was. So, he began to invite them to Kul Elna, which soon became known as “The Village of The Lost”. Many had lost their families to the pharaoh’s rampages over the years, and soon the village had come alive again. Farouk was no longer alone.
Yet by the time he turned 15 years old, his village was struggling to stay alive. Resources were becoming harder and harder to find, his people were slowly dying of starvation and dehydration. Farouk began having to steal resources in order to keep his people alive, which soon earned him the title of the Thief King" by those who caught mere glimpses of him. He would only steal from those who clearly could afford such a loss, and picked up more lost stragglers along his way, struggling desperately to keep his village well-fed.
Yet despite his valiant efforts, his village was slowly dying. For a second time, he was losing everything and everyone dearest to him and help for them would never come. He went to the Pharaoh’s palace several times, despite being stopped at the gates he begged and pleaded for help for his people…But his pleas always went unanswered and he was always turned away.
He stopped asking them for help, soon turning to the Gods instead. He prayed to them until his knees bled from kneeling upon the sand for help for his people, but yet again he received no help. Just when he had given up, a dark shadow fell upon his village, and one God finally answered his desperate cries. Zorc, the Demonic God of Death, had responded to his calls. Zorc promised Farouk that he would save his village in exchange for one simple favor: Give up his humanity and offer his body as the Dark God’s living vessel. The Thief King agonized for several days about what to do. Giving up his humanity seemed terrifying, but at the same time, he had no other options. He could choose to refuse Zorc’s offer and watch his people die or give up his life and humanity to serve Zorc and save his beloved village.
In the end, Farouk gave himself to Zorc’s demonic plans, and thus he was no longer the kind and gentle Thief King Farouk. Instead, he became the violent, evil rival of the Pharaoh’s only son, Atem, and became known as Thief King Bakura, the Robber of the Tombs and enemy to the Pharaoh.
Zorc never kept his promise to save Kul Elna, and the moment Farouk had agreed to the Dark God’s deal and his humanity had been taken, Zorc decimated what was left of the people he had once so deeply loved.
His true story was never told, and Farouk was only remembered by those in history as the uncaring, inhuman Thief King whose only goal was to murder the Pharaoh, overthrow his rule and smite the ones who dared to stand in his way. Even now, Farouk’s real story remains a mystery, and it may never truly be brought to light…Or even if it was, it’s likely that nobody would ever believe he was anything other than the Pharaoh’s would-be assassin.
Current Info:
Now, having been thrown back into Domino City and the living world, Zorc’s influence has been completely torn away by the Shadow Realm. The Gods decided to restore Farouk’s humanity and give him a second chance to live within a new world.
He remembers nothing of his time within the Millennium Ring, except for a few moments where Zorc grew bored and decided to throw whatever was left of his sane mind out into the world for an hour or two. The only thing he truly has a clear memory of…Is the quiet moments he spent having a genuine conversation with Ryou Bakura, the Host of the Ring’s mad influence. Farouk grew quite genuinely attached to Ryou and (whether consciously or not) forced Zorc to save his life a few times over, specifically during intense Duel matches against the young Pharaoh.
Despite this, he does not remember any of those duels, nor does he hold a shred of hatred towards Atem whatsoever. In fact, he remembers nothing of the days after Zorc had made his promise to save the village, other than the fact that his desperate final attempt to save it was completely in vain.
Now, he’s struggling to adjust to a bustling new world full of strange people, cards, and moder technology that he has no understanding of. Nine times out of ten, if confronted with an aggressive individual, he will simply back down and move out of their way, not wanting a fight unless he feels he absolutely has no other choice. Without Zorc’s influence, he is back to his true self, the gentle and kind man who had only wanted to care for his village and his people, and to this day he is still heavily struggling with such a devastating loss.
He can often be found on Domino’s Beaches at night or in the early mornings, the sand is the only thing still familiar to him even if the ocean is not. He tends to stay relatively close to the shoreline every morning and evening, only venturing out into Domino City’s bustling crowds to try and survive, and maybe even find a job if he can.
The only thing he will ever truly remember besides his past and the fact that Kul Elna is completely lost forever…Is the man who had once sat under the stars with his spirit by their side for hours at a time, talking about everything and nothing all at once. And if he’s lucky, he does his best to catch a fleeting glimpse of Ryou passing by whenever he can and even tries to reconnect with the man who was once the Host of the Millennium Ring.
