Many company's have invested huge chunks of money into their infrastructure but now "mobile" and "social" needs to be incorporated. Mobile Web America can provide such a solution at amazing costs savings and time-to-market vs. an overhaul.
We now have a Silicon Valley presence officially with our San Jose location. This is an exciting step as part of our expansion efforts.
Our firm has been working closely with larger enterprise clients who need more complex mobile solutions and this is an important step towards that end.
Wow, 17-year old entrepreneur sells his company for $30 million! Very impressive!
To anyone out there who has someone saying you're "too young" to start a business: don't listen to them!
Future of Mobile - For Online Business
Think of the internet as nothing more than a race to create the most interconnections from one place to another. It seems like a *face-palm* sometimes...
But in order to have success on the web you need to create the largest web-work of links to your business URL as possible (this is one component of what's known as Search Engine Optimization or SEO).
A mobile website effectively doubles your links out there, because you have a separate website, which greatly enhances your search ranking. Taking things further; Google, Bing and others know very well that mobile internet traffic is now the primary source of overall internet traffic. Now imagine this: an Android user searches on m.google.com for "Chinese Food, Palo Alto"; Google knows that you as the end user are on a mobile device. So with great rationale they rank "Chinese Food" restaurants in "Palo Alto" that have mobile websites greater than those without. Google's goal is to provide the best and most useful end result to their clients (the search engine user) which is based on relevancy in terms of content and usability.
Mobile Website...Check!:
Hopefully you don't need much more convincing at this point to get a mobile website. But if cost is your barrier to entry then go to mobilewebamerica.com to convert your existing website to mobile for free.
Goal:
Let's keep our eye on the prize: the goal is to channel the greatest amount of high-quality traffic to your website. Once there, you need to own that environment. Every aspect of the user experience should be thought about, analyzed, improved and perfected. You need to keep clients on your site and make sure there is no stopping points. Many mobile websites out there are simply a dumbed down version of your existing site (I hate to admit it, but so is the free version of mobilewebamerica.com)
Functionality:
Think about what your good or service is. If you are let's say, Serena Software (a client of Mobile Web America's), you are trying to provide information about your service and allow for a quick easy way for prospective clients to contact a sales personnel. However, Facebook.com needs to provide a constant supply of information indefinitely.
We know you need a mobile website already but with these two examples it becomes clear you need to decide if you need a downloadable app.... Serena?: maybe not. Facebook?: without a doubt.
Controlling the Clients environment:
For Serena, controlling the environment means delivering relevant information to eventually draw the client to contact. For Facebook controlling the environment means having a 100% Facebook experience without the option to press "Back" to go somewhere else.
On that note, the end user is up to 75% less likely to convert from a mobile device if they are not provided a mobile friendly experience. The decision should not be whether or not to go mobile at this point but rather: should I do a 1) Conversion; 2) Complete overall; 3) An app; or 4) Combination of two.
Recap:
Let's think about these steps real quick:
Mobile Experience:
The mobile experience should not be a limited experience of the desktop site. It should be the same exact functional experience but delivered in a mobile friendly environment.
How Can Mobile Web America Help:
Think about your business. If you are a professional services company, likely mobilewebamerica.com's do-it-yourself builder will be a quick fix to mobile. Mobile Web America will custom develop a solution for you that will likely be less money than your original site. Future of Mobile - For Business
We all have smart phone's now; we all use Apps; we all use the mobile web. Everyone we can think of is on Facebook, Twitter, Google Plus both on the web and our phones. Even our mom's, dad's, grandparents and elder siblings are purchasing products from our smart phones or tablets.
I think at this point we are all unanimous in the statement that "...we love our mobile devices for the consumption of content..."
But what about the workplace?
Millions of companies throughout the world use Microsoft Outlook for checking emails and use a VPN/Desktop Software or SaaS to Complete daily tasks while at the office. Mom & Pop shops have invested thousands and large firms have invested tens of millions in their ERP solutions; all with the goal of efficient management and propagation of content throughout a firm.
What is in the workplace back-end?
Recently firms have been able to take advantage of the cloud, which has created almost unlimited access to data storage at fractional costs never seen before. We can access data with ease through lighting fast networks powered by fibre optics and wireless connections (fast data). Big Data enables us to compile, process, analyze and make decisions based on huge amounts of information. However, something is missing
A relevant thought from my past:
I remember being at Disneyland in 2004 or so and ordering some lunch with friends while in college. The waitress when taking our order used a complex, expensive looking touch screen to enter our order; and it was rather convenient. I remember thinking to myself "...what kind of investment did Disneyland make so the wait staff doesn't need to write down my order?". Disneyland not only had to develop the software and infrastructure to run it but they needed to develop the actual device to enter it.
And that is what's different about today; we have readily available iPad's and Android Tablet's for fractions-on-fractions of what old custom built hardware cost.
Now let's put this all together:
Our workplace has front-end tools to mange their firm but employee's are essentially stuck to their desktop PC's or Laptops. I remember working at an international conglomerate where I had to take physical notes on paper, that I then had to enter into our homebase computers. Is it just me or is this crazy? We have extremely fast wireless 4G networks in every major metropolitan area that if tied into could enable employee's to have the most up-to-date data input.
Conclusion & the future of Mobile:
Firms do not realize the ease at which an Application or Mobile Site can be developed for a Tablet that would simply put a "skin" over the existing backbone. The skin would tie into the firms system and provide familiar tablet functionality.
The mobile software of the past is no longer a huge undertaking that requires complex hardware engineering or multi-million dollar software development.
Mobile Software of the future is simply a Web App; a Web App that utilizes a firms existing software and backbone to provide employee's with Tablet or Smart Phone functionality. By connecting to wireless networks an employee can now use existing, familar infrastructure on a custom developed app.
Mobile Web America Can Help how?
We have developed and patenting a solution called Live-Sync. Our technology is a complex parsing system that enables us to utilize existing content and software to output a mobile version. We are thus able to provide incredible functionality with high-end mobile solutions that are extremely economical in pricing and have record time-to-market.
MWA has partnered with JAUST Partners, a leader in ERP, together with whom we provide a complete ERP overhaul to address our mobile world.
Go Stephanie, keep those blogs up!
A glimpse at our story
Where was Mobile Web America's concept originated: Starbucks while Moe and I were playing with our new iPhones but noticed the web experience was limited
Why?: We originally were developing apps and custom mobile websites . However based on the price point we knew we needed to create a method for the 400 million other web sites in the world to create a mobile version of their site.
What did you do first? Launch a website and start a development hub in... (we'll tell you later) ;)
Next? File a patent!
Anden? No anden!
Anden? Get investors. We sought out angel funding and were able to close our first round in a couple months. We ended up being able to self fund from thereafter.
Who is on your board? We were introduced to Derek Proudian, who is a notable Silicon Valley figure, who is chairman of our board. Moe and I and are board members and Johnny Perales is on our advisory board.
How are things? Amazing, we officially launched our company in February 2012 and have since gained 50,000 users and have clients such as, CBRE, AT&T, Serena software and hundreds of notable others
Moving forward? The future of mobile will be any new firm or startups first step towards the online marketplace. Whereas previously desktop was. I can't really fill you in on the details but we will be a complete services firm in the near future.
Highlights of getting started: I've truly loved being part of bringing a company from concept, to funding, to a functional company and eventually sale. It's been a blast getting to work with Moe and everyone else. Let me take the time to say that I am so happy for Moe having a daughter during the process and it has been fun watching her grow with MWA :). But! It sure is tough to have flexibility with a family. (hint: we are moving to Silicon Valley soon). Advice to young entrepreneurs: get fully funded if you have kids!
Future of mobile: Mobile is new and unique. The key to Internet success is drawing traffic to your environment, or URL. Having a mobile website increases this likelihood The key however is providing and controlling the environment your users are in and ultimately drawing them towards conversion/ purchase. This includes a multi-pronged approach like responsive design, app (if needed), ease of contact and ease of use. Most importantly, the mobile experience should not have any limited functionality whatsoever from the desktop version and should instead be a user friendly mobile version.
What else do you see as an important factor for mobile? Well, platforms are becoming fully integrated and mobile needs to be looked at as a component of a firms overall platform. We have been helping firms utilize mobile convert existing software platforms for use on tablets etc on the go. Mobile, Big Data, Social and Cloud all need to be thought of as parts to a whole. Through partnerships with Jaust Partners we are excited to address this growing need.
