The first thing that Samira says to Abbot when she first sees him at the conference meet-and-greet drinks is, unfortunately, “Please be my boyfriend.” To his credit, Abbot’s expression barely changes. He just watches her, like he’s waiting for the rest of it to make sense, which, fair. “Please pretend to be my boyfriend,” Samira amends, very aware that she sounds like she’s about six years old and on a school playground.

Speedy Gonzales AKA "MOBOT-I" (1981) by Ralf Hinkel and Ewald von Puttkamer, University of Kaiserslautern, Germany. the MOBOT-project developed a series of autonomous mobile robots able to explore previously unknown environments, starting with 'MOBOT-I' (right in the above photo, next to Micro Gonzales) which entered the 1984 Micromouse competition under the moniker, 'Speedy Gonzales'. "The lure of five free trips to Japan brought 14 micromice to Copenhagen for the 1984 European final … Speedy Gonzales had some sensor trouble, but put up 2 1/2 minutes all the same. Ralf Hinkel has designed a cunning guidance system which balances the reflections from the walls to place his tower-shaped mouse in the centre of [the] passageway. I just loved these African Daisies my friends and I saw at the Missouri Botanical Gardens a few weeks ago!  Funnily enough, as we were all standing there “oooohhhing and aaaaahhhing” over them, a lady walked by and said, “There’s those ugly daisies again.” =‘D  Bah humbug, I say!  There is clearly no accounting for good taste!  They were my favorite blooms of the day.
