Installed a mod in BG3 that has INSANE potential for angst. So much it inspired me to make a novelization of the first time I used the ability it gives.
It's a Durge specific mod that gives you the class ability "succumb to the urge" in combat. It has some buffs like adding 1~4 necrotic damage to every kill you do during that confrontation.
However, you have a chance to go mad every turn, and attack anything and everything in the vicinity, including your allies. The character gets completely out of your control until they pass a roll to resist the madness, but as long as they have the "succumb to the urge" effect, they can go mad at any of their turns.
Now, the first time I used it was against the goblin camp, when I already killed the leaders and was trying to exit, having to face the full group outside because I honestly forgot to poison the wine.
It was all going well until Damien, my custom Durge, went mad as I killed the last goblin. I fully expected the combat to just end and the effect to pass, but it didn't. Damien was the next turn and he just attacked Karlach out of the blue. I scrambled through her's, Shadowheart's and Astarion's actions, before noticing there was no action or item that could "cure" Damien, and all I could do was wait for him to manage passing the roll to resist it. I didn't want to waste resources because I had to down him to snap him out of it. Luckily Astarion had a few scroll of hold person, but considering I'm romancing him, it felt kinda sad. Imagine you're just fighting goblins with your situationship and suddenly he starts to attack you and the rest of your group, even though everything else is dead already, and it gets so dire you have to paralyze him until he calms down
