Hello! I'm interested in the theme of the zine, however I'm a bit sceptical regarding how it will be carried out since I have experience with zines both as a mod and a contributor.
could I request a list of the zine experience from the mods?
additionally I want to ask: what will happen to the artists that won't be assigned a writer?
Usually there are much more artist applicants than writer applicants so will the artists that can't get a writer be rejected?
How will the ships be assigned to the applicants and what happens if someone wants to draw/write for a pair that no one else wants to do ?
If someone isn't able to get one of the ships of their preferences, will there be ways to make sure the person doens't get a ship they don't like? (from experience, most people tend to choose the same things since most people love the main ships)
Also what are the word limits for the writers since writing pages usually take up a lot of pages in a zine which is why most zines don't have more than 15 writers at most
Sorry for the many questions! I still wish bests of luck to the team!
This is a longer one, so I’ll take this one by one
We will not be giving out specifications or an entire list on the specific work every specific member of our team has worked on, but rest assured that there are people who have previous collaborative zine experience, also both as the main creators and as contributors.
We are working with a one artist paired with one writer system; So always a pair of two people. If there is someone that is left due to unexpected reasons of one of their pair not being able to contribute anymore, we will call on predetermined backups, or one of their mods can jump in.
This one ties in with the previous point. You do not need to sign up with a writer (or for that matter, an artist) already at the start. We will be going through people’s pitches and assigning them to one another, anyways.
This is also because we have additional roles such as spot artists and beta readers. So to reiterate: you do not need a partner to sign up with at the start already.
We have limited the amount of ships that you can choose from, so that there should not be too many rarepairs involved.
Of course we’re not going to force people to work on a ship they don’t want! We will try our best to go with one of the contributor’s top three ships which they want to work on, and if we cannot do that we will always ask first whether a new ship they might be assigned is okay for them.
Full writing pieces are limited to 1000 words (due to constrictions of not making the zine too long. We’ve determined this will end up as around 2 to 4 pages with our current page size)
I think that’s all your answers :]
