battery & caramel’s ties to sora, and how it destroys their relationships even further.
words: battery, caramel, letter block, locker
summary: battery likely has more connections with sora than one would think.
cw: n/a
it is no surprise to any reader that battery’s entire identity is shrouded in mystery throughout most of the episodes we have so far.
these episodes include:
ep. 27 - immunosuppression (very brief cameo in various windows)
ep. 26 - my tell-tale heart
ep. 20 - keep
ep. 19 - fragile wings
ep. 5 - yearn
all of these episodes include incredibly brief mentions of him and his identity, which i believe is for a very important reason. where this theory begins is in episode 20, keep.
in the start of the episode we see yarn, battery, and cable all in their house while yarn watches TV, battery looks suspiciously afraid, almost anxious at the topic on the TV. although we do not get to see much of what the TV reporters are saying, they appear to be talking about a government coronation. what this is a coronation for isn’t exactly known.
but it is possible that it is related to battery’s connections to them in some way, which is why he appears to be so anxious. in the same episode battery leaves for “work” and seemingly disappears from their lives without another word.
we see a black text with dialogue, which seems to be a conversation between yarn and letter block, what this conversation means is vague but it is possible that yarn was given the same offer by letter block and was turned down so she (letter block) gave it to battery instead.
this same reason is also possibly why we see battery briefly lurking in ep. 27, watching and possibly giving letter block hints on the locations of people who are excommunicated from sora who they are trying to "get rid of" (kill), this part is possibly a stretch due to the fact that battery likely has zero reason to want to outright murder any one of his previous lovers or family, but it is possible that his devotion like many of the other cult members deludes him into making these decisions for “the greater good”
yarn has previous ties to sora, working as a engineer, so likely if they worked around the same time she also knows his ties to them. yarn loves cable and likely would avoid telling them the truth as tensions between them are incredibly high, with cable deeply caring for battery as their partner, and both of them still thinking about him through dreams. cable likely believes that battery is dead, why else wouldn't he have bothered to contact them? so yarn knowing that battery is alive and not choosing to contact them whatsoever would likely cause cable to not trust yarn as much as they do. for the record, it is most likely that battery first dated cable, before leaving to work for sora, deciding to date and have a child with locker, and then leaving again due to horizon.
at the end of ep 19. we see caramel saying, “if only you knew who [battery] truly was”, referring to the fact that likely locker, or anyone outside of sora knew his ties to them. caramel has ties to sora as a scientist and a hunter, as seen in love kills so of course she would be aware of other workers but most likely she would have to stay silent (figuratively) about it as locker would also discover her ties to sora, these ties would likely tear their family apart.
locker as we know is incredibly against sora, being a lawyer to protect people against them. finding out both his sister and lover being connected to his number one enemy would tear him apart and likely cause the family to fall apart in a big arguement.
caramel working for sora is also a big issue, as even the sight of holly and strawberry in ep. 11 fills her with dread, she knows what will happen locker finds out what her real job is, the second yarn or caramel slip-up and accidentally reveal something about battery’s current state or job will likely cause an extreme domino effect that will reveal the truth behind the mystery of battery.
