projection maybe but as a borderline i can see mark having bpd... cz hear me out what if hes so obsessed with wood due to it being the only thing he knows for a fact about himself. he doesnt know the nitty-gritty, so anything that should be obvious about his identity becomes all he is.
plus, it makes sense for wallter to be his former fp (favorite person). with so much dialogue dedicated to wallter and the divorce, its clear hes still obsessing over it, especially with how little anyone else acknowledges it. its (usually) not brought up if mark doesnt do so himself, which makes it seem it happened ages ago from whenever the regretevator considers "now".
mark misses wallter so much he hates him, which is a common pattern for borderlines and their former fps. hes still idealizing wallter too, with the comments of "if it werent fer this stuff" when offered gray stuff and the "i just really miss him" with scag
btw if you have no idea what makes an fp a bpd thing, borderlines really do obsess, especially when its severe/untreated. your whole day revolves around your favorite person. theyre "perfect", everything you want to be, everything you want in life. you mirror them constantly, only really talk to them, and any request for distance feels like a personal offense (which i believe was a factor in the divorce). even long after theyre not your fp anymore, you still feel "all or nothing" about them, usually hate for them leaving you when they meant so much to you, since fear of abandonment is a huge bpd symptom and feels like the worst offense to make against a borderline
plus bpd forms as a survival mechanism and lingers even when you dont need it anymore. cult life was hard for mark, so it makes sense for him to have formed bpd imo
Yes.. More BPD Mark!!
