If a fae uses sign language, does it hurt their hands if they lie? And what about written text?

Trying to lie while using a sign language or while writing will usually lead to the usual symptoms of nausea, headaches, distortion of vision and/or vertigo in most cases.

Note that this doesn't extend to writing things such as fiction, since the purpose of the writing is to entertain, not to deceive.

so, there are different types of magic associated with the spring/summer and autumn/winter courts, but i was wondering what kinds of magic would be associated with each court. for example: fire-based magic. fire season lasts from may-november, so i sort of associate it with both summer and autumn. do the broader categories of magic like elemental magic have overlap with both courts? or does it depend on the magics present in that specific area of court territory? i.e. nobody's gonna do water or ice magic in a desert

In the Courts you can do all types of magic, but some magics are weaker in certain Courts and specialties in others.

Types of Magic:

Some of the different abilities that are commonly seen throughout the Courts. Corporeal magic is the most common amongst fae, Mystic magic is uncommon, and Cardinal magic is quite rare.

Corporeal: Fire, Earth, Water, Wind, Ice, Plant, Poison/Acid, Lightning, Cloud/Fog, Explosions, Crystal, Blood

Mystic: Healing, Enchanting, Curses, Illusions, Shapeshifting, Alchemy, Psychic/Mental, Summoning/Banishment

Cardinal: Celestial, Spacial, Time, Chaos, Gravity, Shadow, Light

Common:

More likely to be seen and/or strengthened.

Summer: Celestial, Spacial, Light, Fire, Explosions, Lightning, Water, Plant, Healing, Blood, Enchanting

Autumn: Chaos, Gravity, Fire, Earth, Wind, Cloud/Fog, Blood, Poison/Acid, Curses, Summoning/Banishment

Winter: Celestial, Time, Shadow, Ice, Earth, Water, Cloud/Fog, Lightning, Crystal, Psychic/Mental, Alchemy

Spring: Chaos, Gravity, Wind, Water, Plant, Crystal, Poison/Acid, Explosions, Illusions, Shapeshifting

We've been messing around in tiny glade recently, so I thought I'd try and design the main "castle" for the Summer Court. A lot of the structures in the Summer and Spring Courts are inspired by the art nouveau style.

have Tosciran’s escapades ever caused any uh. particularly notable consequences? be it conflict between the Courts or problems from outside the Seasonal Courts - @clxckwork-sun-n-moon

Yes, he has done things that have consequences on the realms, but whether or not they have been good consequences or bad consequences is up to personal interpretation.

There is a small region in Spring where stones float in the air due to Ink stealing the gravity from them. He claims that he bargained with the rocks for their gravity, but it's difficult to confirm the veracity of that statement. The fae of that region don't mind, and in fact many think it's an interesting feature! Some fae have built their homes on and in the larger stones, and it's a popular tourist destination.

Early on in the peace talks between Nightmare and Dream, Ink forgot that the peace talks weren't over yet and assumed the war was over and everything was fine since Nightmare was around again. So he "borrowed" something important from Nightmare. This caused quite a bit of conflict, and people were worried the peace talks would break down and the war would start up again. It got cleared up quickly and Ink was admonished, but things were stressful for a while.

There hasn't been any conflict with anyone outside the Courts in recent history, but that could always change ( · ❛ ֊ ❛)

heyyyy idk if I remember correctly, but I’ve been going through some posts again, and I found one were you mentioned nightmare has a dragon?? (I think it was somewhere with his character sheet or smth, it was about how he doesn’t fly due to his damaged original wings) is there a design for him/her yet? And if yes, could we see pls? :3

Does ink still need his vials in this au or does he actually have a soul so he wouldn't need them

Ink is still without a soul, so he does still require his vials! The origin of the liquid inside the vials is unknown to everyone but them however. They just kinda seem to refill whenever no-one is looking...

I was visiting some old posts and you mentioned going from Spring Court to Winter Court isnt good for mortals. Is there any big reason behind that (like an accident?) or is it just because the weather change can be too much for someone?

it's a magical reason! it has to do with the Courts being related to the seasons; Spring comes after Winter, so to travel from Spring back into Winter is considered travelling backwards by the realm and it doesn't like it. all sorts of things can go wrong if you travel through the Courts in the wrong order, and only well-travelled/knowledgeable fae can do so safely.

there isn't one specific incident to point to as the cause of it, it's just how things are; it's one of the weird 'rules' that dictate the realm.

in the interest of keeping things otherworldly/unexplainable/incomprehensible, we won't give a concrete answer for what exactly will happen. we will say that there are many different things that can happen; some benign, some confounding, and some dangerous. just know that travelling that way is like "going back in time" in a realm that isn't dictated by our familiar laws of reality. there's no telling what will happen but it's not worth gambling with it.

(for the sake of some examples, though; you could end up in a completely different area of the court with no explanation how you travelled that far or right back where you started; you could end up in the past; you could end up in the future, the journey having taken significantly longer than it should've; you could find that you've aged or even de-aged; you could end your journey finding that you no longer speak the same language as those around you; losing time from your life; shortening the amount of time you can safely stay in the realm by an unknown amount etc)

Is it possible to have non bug like fae like maybe they have animal parts instead maybe feathered wings or maybe fox ears or other things?

Of course! There are lots of fae that aren't bug-like at all. Once we redo Cross's reference he'll also have non-bug features.
