if this blog is still active at all irt the anon whos losing their headmates, one of my headmates came from serious anxiety and depression, and when i didnt need him anymore he actually went away for a good two years before returning about a year ago when i became severely suicidal - if they work as a coping mechanism, they may leave once you dont need them and return if you do again, so try not to worry? idk

Hello! Sorry, this blog is still active; but the mods (or at least myself and two other systems, not sure about everyone) are back in school right now and haven't had a lot of time to mod. 

I'll be looking to give main mod-ship of the blog up soon.

I made my Headmates specifically to help me, the core, run better. They've helped me through the worst of depression and anxiety, but I think now that I'm more calm, I am starting to see them fade a bit... I'm not sure how to bring them back if there's no 'work' for them. I'm scared I'm going to lose them, and I really do love them...

Oh no, I'm so sorry!! Try to hang on as best you can. Engage them in activities as much as you can, talk to them, have them talk to other people.

Any of the other mods have advice?

How does it feel to be in a median system? I really think I'm a median system but I feel like I'm faking it for attention and that I'm just overexaggerating what's going on in my head...

Well, it feels different for everyone!

The best analogy I can come up with is this:

If you write or roleplay, do you know how your muses can feel like real people talking to you? Imagine that, but the muses are less characters in the back of your mind and are instead real, individual people.

But it's really hard to say!

No, but more like they aren't truly headmates yet... almost more like holograms that have programming, whereas the 'vibrant' ones are actually their own people.

That's also a totally valid set up for a system! It's entirely possible that the holograms will become more vibrant--or they might not. And that's still fine! There's hundreds of different ways that systems work, and they're all valid.

I just came across the concept of systems recently, not really sure if I'm part of one or not? i have multiple elements to my personality and i've always had them, since before I knew they were A Thing that other people had going on... can you just explain what exactly being a system is? are systems multiple people or are they just different parts of the same person that have become separated? I think that's what might have happened to me at some point but I have no idea what i'm doing. thanks

actually, here's something you might find interesting:

a headmate system means having multiple people in your head.

however, a median system means that you're essentially one person but you're divided into facets.

so headmate sytems: abigail, benny, and claire are all completely separate people living in one head

median systems: diane and elizabeth are two facets of freddy
