hey could you guys not post calls from people who say theyre pre transition? its really really nasty and implies that trans people werent always trans and thats just Yikes
I’m going to start this off by saying that both mods are trans, and I, at least, have not and probably will not transition. I understand the concern of erasing trans characters, but trans people are just as valid pre-transition/non-transition (as in they have no plans to transition) as those who transition. I don’t know where you got the implication that just because someone doesn’t remember transitioning in their canon, it means they are implying the character is not trans. I suppose it depends on the context.
Not only that, but not all of us trans folks adhere to the “born this way” narrative. While it is a completely valid and true statement, plenty of us just do not subscribe to it, because people are valid whether they’ve made a choice or not.
Lastly, we cannot tell somebody who they were in canon. If someone’s personal timeline diverges with source canon than we have no right to tell them otherwise or dismiss them because of it. That implies that their memories are “false” or that they are “faking”, which is not an attitude we tolerate here.
So we will have to deny your request. If you are uncomfortable with it, by all means, feel free to unfollow! We won’t be offended.
