Let's Talk About YandereDev, This Blog, And What The Future Holds.

Hello everyone, Mod Midori here! So… things have certainly been happening for a while now. Many things. Many big, scary things. If you’re reading this, you probably know what’s happening in the world.

You also probably know the creator of Yandere Simulator, Alex, better known as YandereDev, has come under a lot of criticism in recent times.

If you’ve somehow missed it, the game has always had some controversy attached to it. Specifically, the use of the trope of a yandere in it of itself is seen as inherently problematic by some, while for others, it’s how it’s implemented into Ayano’s character and the story. The game also always had minor criticism for prioritizing Easter Eggs over core gameplay, and specifically, Osana’s development. In the past, I was mostly able to look past the game to see archetypal characters that I could craft into something more, hence why I started this blog. I love trying to create a more nuanced character from the base of characters, shown through a few carefully curated images and a fancy quote. It’s fun, and I love to do it.

However… well… I cannot brush off Alex’s behavior anymore, and there is some behavior that has come to light that is, quite frankly, disgusting. And I feel terrible that I did not see it sooner. I waited to make a statement because I wanted to make sure my words were clear. I followed someone that I thought was a bit of a weeb but otherwise a decent man, but now I can no longer comfortably support him.

I, Mod Midori, do not condone the actions of Alex, and will no longer be creating aesthetics for this game, or using this blog, as doing so, in some small way, would be seen as condoning his actions.

What will happen to this blog? Well, I am still proud of the work that I’ve done, so I will keep this blog up as an archive... on my end at least. Supana and Osana still have access to this blog. I will not restrict access to this blog for them, and I will not delete it. If they would like to continue this blog, that is their decision. This is just my (Mod Midori’s) decision. I will no longer be creating aesthetics, and I will be leaving this blog up as just a snapshot.
