-there was an SA PSA episode starring flyte. The episode basically showed how SA can cause PTSD and affect its victims.

-in said episode it was revealed that flyte used to have a "friend". This friend has always been very...touchy with him. One night, during a sleepover, she confessed to have a crush on him, however flyte didnt like her that. Despite that, she still tried to kiss him, but he shoved her away and went to sleep. But in the middle of the night, he felt someone touching him. When he woke uo, he found his "friend" touching his sides and private parts while on top of him. When he tried to fight back, she pushed him onto the ground and blocked his wings so he couldnt get away.

"Come on flyte, his will make you popular! Youll ne the first boy in our class to have his first time..."

The episode then showed flytes shadow on the wall and him trying to fight back but not being able to, whole his friend forced herself on him.

-the episode was basically a flashback caused by a trigger, and when flyte snapped back to reality he found his sister asking if he was ok. They hugged :3

-the episode ends with another flashback, this time of flyte when he went back home. He had kiss marks all over him and his clothes were a bit torn.

"Mom...*sniffle*, I dont want to go to [REDACTED] house anymore..."

while i'm not the biggest shellyvision shipper i AM a big vee mischaracterization hater (and also a big yuri enthusiast) and i feel like people only get the idea that shellyvision would be toxic because most people see vee as a mean bitch and i'm over here like BOOO NO SHE WOULD NOT BE A MEAN BITCH LOUD INCORRECT BUZZER SHE'S JUST STRAIGHTFORWARD AND BLUNT IN HER DIALOGUE DON'T DUMB HER DOWN TO A MEANIE WHO DOESN'T CARE ABOUT ANYONE the most extreme way i can see shelly and vee's dialogue is vee unintentionally being inconsiderate about shelly i don't think the tv flat out hates the ammonite

honestly this is part of an ongoing "debate" about if the fandom's treatment/portrayal of vee is rampant misogyny (it is) but sighhh that's a discussion for another day. god forbid a woman doesn't show the "standard" "niceness" that most other toons do

ok so i got a thing

so. shelly is a fan-favourite in the fandom! yay! cool!

shelly is ignored in canon, though. some people have pointed out that shelly's lore has a few holes though.

iirc though, shelly was capitalising on the most popular topic in the late 90s-early 2000s, dinosaurs.

now hear me out on this.

shelly was meant to be an autistic character with a hyperfixation on dinosaurs, and so, she knows a lot about dinosaurs.

trouble is, arthur and delilah didnt know how else to characterize her. so they just went with kind and hoped that'd suffice.

but, the kids wanted more. more interesting characters. so they gravitated more towards vee, sprout, astro, because they all had more to their character. vee was knowledgable, blunt, but meant well. sprout was kind, overprotective, but could be pushy at times. astro was quiet, mysterious, but tried his best. pebble, well, he was a dog. dogs are always fan favourites.

so, shelly faded into the background, became the kind dinosaur lover. people forgot her name. and then the other toons began forgetting her, glisten calling her shelby, and she didnt correct him because she was happy to get recognized at all. she became quieter, but kept quietly trying to cheer people on as best as she could, encouraging them.
