And we’re back!  Sorry for the delay everyone, I want to thank you for your patience as I ran out and did errands this morning.  We got through about 20 something asks, so I say that’s a pretty successful inbox cleaning all things considered!

Ask box is now open again, and we will continue to work on asks in our inbox as new ones arrive so don’t worry!

I think that it was on wednesday I sent a two part ask in about going through phases of worry, and whether or not I should go and talk to someone. This no longer needs to be answered because I think I got the situation figured out! Thank you so much for running a blog like this though! It's comforting to know that there's supportive blogs like this!

Once a month inbox closing

Hey guys,

A while back a few of the mods and I agreed that during the first week of each month we’d temporarily close the ask box in an attempt to make it more manageable.  Now a lot of you may be unfamiliar with this process, so I’m not gonna jump it on you starting tomorrow, but the first full week of July, okay?

That means JULY 3 THROUGH JULY 9.

I’ve been trying to get in a better habit of tagging posts that I’ve made with links using well, #links.  Please use this as a quirk shortcut for various resources.

Heck I ought to make a resource page one of these days.

Anyways, life’s been busy, I may actually be getting a job like wicked soonish (!!!!!) and I’ll see if I can’t answer a couple asks by the end of the day.

So sorry for another non-problem ask, you probably get enough of those, but since this relates to the blog and not actually any of the mods in general I thought I should ask it here. Would you ever accept voice-acted answers? Say, someone wanted to voice an answer from here and send it through submissions, would you accept it? Excuse my asking, but I'd like to know.

We would love to hear voice-acted answers!  We’d absolutely accept it, I’m not sure if tumblr’s system allows sending specific audio but you could easily submit a link to us.

If you posted the audio to tumblr, you could always @ us, that should work.

If, by chance, a person decided to do something similar to this on a website that isn't tumblr, how would you suggest going about it? (I apologize if this is something you wouldn't answer, I would just like to know.)

Well, a lot of that depends on the website you’re looking at!  I am generally versatile in tumblr and Facebook, but a lot of what you’re asking depends on what the website is and what it can do.  Forgive me if I get a bit technical or pushy, I’m going into my graphic design mind so business is at the forefront more than anything.

How are you going to receive asks/messages, and is there an option to be anonymous?  What sort of site design are you looking for?  Will you be following a theme for answering asks (we respond as homestuck characters, will you be doing something similar or just being yourself)?  What will your navigation be like?  Will more than one person be available to take on messages, or is it solely you?  What will your navigation be like?  What questions are you willing to answer, and what questions aren’t you willing to answer?

I understand that’s a lot of questions, and you certainly don’t have to answer them all right now.  But there certainly is a lot of work that goes into at least making a website and receiving/posting messages.  I am in no way discouraging this, I’m actually super happy to hear that something like this has your interest at the very least!!  I’m definitely encouraging it and rooting for you, if you believe you can.

One of the most important things you can consider when starting a website like this is to consider yourself: are you in a position to help, without bias?  We’ve had to answer some asks in the past where the sender was technically in the wrong.  Or things stepped into deeper territory than we should have answered, like this one.  There may be questions that someone sends in that you might not be entirely comfortable answering.  Are you in a place right now to be able to deal with those sorts of questions, and if they do strike a nerve, can you push through or call for extra help?

I'm sorry, but did you get a submission from someone who called themselves M? If it hadn't already said so, it's become fairly urgent. Also, if you need more information, I believe it was about someone's sister who didn't care about the fact that what they were saying was making M uncomfortable.

We got it, there’s another ask asking me to get to it before tomorrow so I need to make sure I get that one done first, but I’ll try to get yours done by tonight, okay? If you need to talk to someone before anyone get can to it, try one of these sites, okay?
