I had posted this on twitter, but yknow... gonna put it here. This came after the sudden wave of enthusiasm for SeaWorld’s twitter activity.

for me, it's not JUST about the animals with SW either. It's the blatant nationalism, it's aligning themselves with ppl like Kavanaugh- it's human rights violations, it's dumping their employees like hot potatoes during a worldwide pandemic. Does that deserve redemption?

It's skirting safety protocols with an open park during the pandemic. It's propaganda through quirky social media to distract away from the nastiness that happens. & yeah, other places do it too. You also see me gunning at D/isney just the same.

You can still find appropriation & racist microaggressions in the park today. Not a single PNW Native running a station dedicated to my clan for 7 Seas Festival, but they are quick to throw up totem poles & formline art while raking in money for "authentic" experiences

& still playing coy for the plight of the SRKWs when SW wants to pretend like they're champions for the orca. Why can't you say something like "breach the dams"? Why are you playing political games & pretending like you aren't directly responsible for the decimated SRKWs too?

If a company has truly changed, they can be transparent & apologetic in their attempts to "change." What SW does now is just trying to sweep tragedy under the rug. "We're good people now! Look at our rainbow masks!"

I just caught up to some of the discourse from this blog & im gonna be perfectly honest with you:

1. Speaking as a rape survivor, stop throwing the word “rape” around to describe animal husbandry.

2. Stop equating slavery to zoos & aquariums. Our black brothers & sisters have spoken out repeatedly against the use of it, & yet white ARAs continue to be willfully racist

These are not words to throw around for shock value. Stop slurping on PETA’s leather boots & educate yourselves. Also maybe take a look around at your circle of individuals you keep close. You probably (definitely) need some diversity & sensitivity
