Volkswagen is preparing to unveil an extensive mid-life upgrade of its five-door, seven-seater, the Sharan, at the next Geneva Motor Show. Currently in its second generation, VW has sold 800,000 examples of vehicles, 200,000 of the current generation.This latest update includes a variety of new driver assistance systems and comfort-oriented functions. VW will also introduce two new limited editions, the Sharan and Sharan Ocean Beach, which complement the Trendline, Comfortline and Highline trim levels. These special editions will be available in two new paint colors and will feature updated equipment for both exterior and interior.

The Volkswagen Sharan is a 7 seater MPV produced by German automaker Volkswagen and designed to compete with the Renault Espace, the Citroen C8 and the Peugeot 807. The Sharan is currently in its second generation and is built on the ground of AutoEuropa in Palmela, Portugal. It shares the same platform with the SEAT Alhambra and the first generation was also related to the Ford Galaxy.

First introduced in 1995, the Sharan has been particularly successful in Europe and Asia. In China, for example, the Sharan is mainly used for business transportation, while in Germany, used mainly by families. The Sharan has also been successful in the UK, Austria, Japan and France.

The Sharan has received an exterior renovation lower in this latest update, with revised rear LED lights. Wheel selection has expanded and now includes “Jakarta” alloy rollers 16 inches. The two new special editions, the ocean and the beach, will debut two new paint colors, “Hudson Bay Blue Metallic” in the Ocean “Crimson Red Metallic” on the beach. Finally, silver roof rails complete the list of outdoor options.
