Talking Stats
Grad student working on a sea otter project is in here working on the stats for mercury found in otter tissue samples. One of the things they’re having to try and remember is that you don’t fit the data to the model, you fit the model to the data. My method for remembering? The data already is what it is. It’s the model we adjust. We aren’t going to go force-feed otters mercury to make them match the model, after all.... right? At least, I hope not.
