My kit bash / scratchbuilt Babylon 4.
1984 Dune Spice Scout
This was my very quick scratchbuild of one of the barely seen vehicles in the 1984 film Dune. A small ribbed plastic tree ornament, some scrap plastic shapes, and a plastic clothing hanger trimmed to length.
Digging through my past model builds, the USS Swinetrek was a quick and dirty scratchbuild. I did this one back in 2001, and it survived until a kitty did a " bookcase + gravity + just a little shove " experiment in 2015.
Homebrew earrings
In the mid 90's, my wife found some inexpensive silver earrings which she loved; back in 2017 the left earring got lost, and I decided ‘hey, I’m a modeler! I can fix this problem!’
I could copy the remaining one with epoxy putty to create a form (a buck, in model-speak), and vacc-form a sheet of some polycarbonate over the buck, and then, invert it and make the missing one. Then apply BareMetal Foil over that, mount some earring posts, and give it to her on Christmas morning. Worked pretty darn good; she was delighted!
